• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hello, I have been struggling with my ocd thoughts again and I just have a question. Am I still saved, the reason I ask is because I spend time fighting my thoughts when I should be resting and trusting that Jesus is the one who saves me. My name is Zack and I have accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior, I just feel like I'm not resting in what He did on the cross to save me. I also struggle in my prayer life. God bless you and Jesus is Lord. Please keep me in your prayers.

What are your thoughts saying that seem to tell you that you may not be saved anymore?
Meanwhile, praying for you that you find peace in what Christ has done for you.

They are really hard for me to talk about but the main reason I doubt in my salvation is because I feel like I'm not fully resting in Jesus to save me. My past posts will let you know what types of bad thoughts I struggle with. Thank you for praying. God bless you and Jesus is Lord.

We all struggle in some way.

Resting in Jesus means that we know He will save us despite our struggles ...

Hello.
I used to struggle with some ocd, I still do actually. But I beat it enough to not let it control my life. I will pray for you.

We all struggle and we all think that God has forgotten us when we sinned against him because we feel like we are dirty cuz of that sin. Use bar of soap seen in 1 John 1:9

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Thank you so much :) God bless you as well :) hugs.
I am really worried about my salvation because I keep getting terrible thoughts and I can't even get through a prayer because of my ocd and it feels like I don't have a relationship with God because of my inability to pray and I feel like by fighting my thoughts, I am not resting in Jesus to save me. Sorry to put that on you, I am just really concerned. God bless you and Jesus is Lord.

Zack, I am praying for you. I understand what you are going through. It is amazing to me how many people with OCD experience the same type of thing. Many, will disagree but I tend to think there is a spiritual warfare component to this.

Whatever the issue, God's grace is sufficient. We have to keep trusting and pressing towards our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I am praying for you, and I know you can get through this. If you are dealing with intrusive thoughts, the less you think on them the more they will go away.

God bless you!

And all the father gives me will come to me, whoever comes to me I will never cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day."

You know you have OCD...don't forget that doubting your salvation is an obsession as well. :) In fact I have recently heard other people express the exact same fears as you - they must not be saved because they're not "resting in God enough." Are you using ERP therapy to deal with your obsessions? That basically means ignoring the anxious thoughts, and refusing to do compulsions. Otherwise the cycle will just continue...

Thank you for replying and I am not using erp but I have in the past. I have been taking medication and it has helped a lot. The ERP was helpful I think but it has been a while since I have used it. God bless you and Jesus is Lord.
