• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Obviously scrupulosity and religious OCD is a major subtype of this disorder with many people dealing with it each and every day. How many times have you heard people "laughing off" this type of OCD though and how sick of it are you? What can be done to put an end to the jokes surrounding OCD and the misconceptions that come along with it? This explains a bit more what I'm referring to, but if you OCD and this subtype specifically, then I'm sure you're already clearly aware of the problems. Why is OCD so misunderstood? – The nOCD Blog

Hi, I have scrupulosity and you are exactly right, it is misunderstood I believe and for us who struggle with it it is really hard. Being so misunderstood it can be hard to explain it to somebody, if you ever need to talk you can message me. God bless you and Jesus is Lord.

Yes, OCD is largely misunderstood by normies. I believe that is because they often confuse the disorder with type A personality or with OCP. They think that because they can only see the behaviors and not the thoughts that usually cause them. For instance, in hand washing they see the behaviors but what they don’t see is, “If my hands are not clean enough my mother is going to die.” Or in our case with Scrupulousity, “If I don’t give enough it means I don’t believe enough meaning I might not be saved.”

Exactly.. it is all about this being a hidden illness. When there are not outward rituals taking place, it's difficult for the average person to understand. Especially when it comes to scrupulosity and how most of this happens within your own mind. Definitely an interesting topic worth discussing more though, that's for sure.

Yeah it sucks few know about it. And some who do think you can be 'delivered' from it. I honestly question someone who says God delivered them from OCD or any mental illness. Mental illnesses are usually there for a life. However I do believe God can put things in our lives-doctors, therapists, medications-that help us manage these illnesses.

Ugh. I hate that. My OCD has always manifested itself as mental compulsions like searching online, reassurance seeking, arguing with thoughts, etc.

GOD is above every name and above OCD as well. So He definitely can cure it. ( Philippians 2:9 )

You're trying to make people deal with the voices instead of getting rid of the voices.

To get rid of them you must MASSIVELY PRAY, FAST, and get hands laid on you by Holy Spirit filled people. (Mark 16:17-18 , matthew 17:21)
Take communion after repenting.
Call prayer lines. (daystar & tbn are good ones)
Immerse yourself in the WORD. Sleep with christian/gospel music playing in the background to calm the mind.
They will go away.

OCD is NOT a lifetime sickness but can be if you don't fight it with the Word of GOD.

My scrupulosity is constant need to go into details in confession, and sometimes not knowing did i crossed the line with eating, or sleeping(lazines), but i dont care about people talking or making fun of it, its not something i am, its something i want to get rid of...
