Only an idiot would concede an election before a recount.

I agree, so long as he has to use his own money, which seems to be the case.

Watching Rachel Maddow. Earlier, the AL SoS had said he could pay for a recount, but that is not the case. Only people running for State offices have that option, and this is a race for a Federal seat.

So the fat lady has sung, exited the stage, and locked up the theater.

It's nice that we found one without sin.
Most guys I would think are not in this boat.

Are you saying that when you were in your 30s you were pursuing girls in their teens?

What boat is it that you're in, Bob?

Probably not although in the Bible days and also today in some countries it seems to happen.

My wife is a lot younger than me but, I must admit I did not meet her when she was 10 years old.

My family is all what (except I'm 25% native american) and we all voted for Doug Jones. We are all conservatives and have voted Republican for years and we are't the only ones in the highly educated group in Alabama. In fact, our other US Senator didn't vote for Moore either and said so publicly several days before the election so don't act like it was just one demographic because that is not the truth.

I talked with Christians in Alabama just the other day and they told me that, "Moore seemed to have major issues but, they could not support someone who supports abortion and gay marriage. "

At least they agree that child molestation is a "major issue."

I guess Moore would have to forcibly rape a teen for it to be upgraded to a "problem."

Someone could offer to pay the cost of a recount for him, I suppose... he could start a gofundme page.

I'd chip in a few bucks to see him loose again.

I know a lot of Dems will chip in (anonymously of course) to see him win.

Senator Moore (R-AL), would guarantee the Senate in 2018 for the Dems... and most likely the House as well.

Can you imagine 10 months of every single Republican in Washington dodging questions beginning with "What's your opinion on Senator Moore's claim that (insert asinine Moore-ism of the day here)?"

Sounds awesome for the GOP, 10 months of being able to do everything without scrutiny because the MSM and democrats fall over backwards over Moore's latest scandal. Would even take some heat off of Trump.

True, but at the end of those 10 months, a Republican wouldn't be elected dogcatcher in DC...

Not that the GOP can think (or would choose to) that far ahead, but still...

Sorry you feel that way on this God-blessed early morning.

Just sent my beautiful younger wife off to work a while ago. What a sweet little thing she is for the getting older Mountainman!

No one can pay for it. For Federal seats, if an automatic recount isn't triggered, they won't do it. It's State law. Only races for State offices have that option.

Then there's nothing for it but to listen to Moore and his disciples whine and complain...

Source? They were saying on the radio that in Alabama, if there's no automatic recount triggered, a candidate can have one done at his expense. This is the first I heard they won't allow one if an automatic recount isn't triggered.

My understanding is that Alabama will destroy the ballots if there's no recount imminent, and it seems like the courts have said that right now there's no reason to preserve the ballots - so unless Moore gets the recount ball rolling now, he's borked.

Roy Moore turns refusal to concede into religious crusade: ‘Immorality sweeps over the land’

“We have stopped prayer in our schools,” Moore said in his statement. “We have killed over 60 million of our unborn children. We have redefined marriage and destroyed the basis of family, which is the building block of our country. Our borders are not secure. Our economy is faltering under an enormous national debt. We have a huge drug problem. We have even begun to recognize the right of a man to claim to be a woman, and vice versa. We have allowed Judges and justices to rule over our Constitution, and we have become slaves to their tyranny. Immorality sweeps over our land.”

None of that has anything to do with how many votes were cast.

But, hey, if he wants to stay in the news and whip up angry people into a frenzy, that's cool too I guess.

He phrases it like men being recognised as women is the worst of the bunch.
