Maybe now that the gambit worked and Roy Moore lost his election, Franken will decide that there is no further need for him to resign. That could damage the next phase of the party's plan--impeaching the President on moral grounds now that the Russia thing has failed--but Franken could decide that he's done enough. He clearly doesn't think that what he did warrants the death penalty.

Looks like the governor of Minnesota check-mated Franken by appointing a woman to replace him.

Not seeing any real way out for Franken now.

It has been unravelling steadily for the past several months. Now even the Dems know that nothing much can come of the Trump-Russia collusion idea they couldn't stop talking about earlier in the year. The 'proof of the pudding' is that the party has switched to the woman issue as their hope of getting the last presidential election overturned.

All he has to do is stay in office.

The question is whether he thinks that the good of the party is more important than his own career. If he doesn't care about the party, then he simply stays in office and waits for this to blow over.

Yup, Trump's position that no one in his campaign, his transition or his WH had ANY meetings with the Russians has been upheld.

How many folks have been documented to having met with Russians?
How many are under indictment. How many more when all of Flynn's information is fully utilized? How many lied to Congress, to the FBI, to Mueller? And why?

If all you are referring to is Donald Trump being convicted of collusion with the Russians, that was never possible. There is no such crime. Whether Trump's actions are impeachable is up to the 2019 Congress.
The president will not be indicted with regard to any crime. I suppose that is all he really cares about. He can pardon his family if they are indicted and convicted.

And Trump will not be indicted for obstruction. Many have testified that the proceedings against Flynn and others all proceeded normally. Conspiring to obstruct may be an impeachable offense. Obviously, Trump had every right to fire Cuomy. Firing the Special Counsel, on the other hand, would likely get him impeached, even by Republicans.

IN THE MEANTIME
There is a lot, lot more to the scope of Mueller's investigations than whether the president is guilty of collusion.

AS AN ASIDE
Mueller's investigations COULD be expended to include the case of Clinton's emails. Essentially, that is up to the Republicans.
