I was raised Baptist, go to a Baptist church, yet rather than apply labels, or argue that Baptists existed since Christ, and other practically unfruitful endeavors, I follow the premise set for by the Word of God in Acts of the Apostles 11:26. The disciples were first called Christians at Antioch. In that same Spirit, I am not a Baptist, Calvinist, Lutheran, Catholic, Presbyterian, Pentacostal, Charismatic, Orthodox, or Unorthodox, or any other denomination. I am simply a Christian who wants to be obedient as possible to the Lord our God. Labels, divisions, denominations have no place in the unity of the Spirit. For it is the Spirit that should conform us, not the world. As such the labels outside of the ones in the Bible are of man and of the world.I don't think it's as simple as all that. I don't believe there is one "perfect" denomination. That's why I would reject the claims of the Mormon Church and Jehovah's Witnesses who do claim to be the one true Church and accuse all others of being in a state of apostacy. (aside from doctrines that clearly contradict the Bible)
On the other hand, Christians do all hold the same core beliefs: One Triune God, the Bible as the inspired word of God, Jesus' death and resurrection etc. Where denominations differ is on side issues like baptism, spiritual gifts, how a Church should be organised etc.
So I would suggest that the easiest thing to do is try a few Churches, see if the teaching is good, the people are friendly etc. I wouldn't get too hung up on denominational labels!
