SUMMARY

1 John 2:6
He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
Truth. Jesus lived obedient to ABBA YHWH.
Jesus taught all the disciples all that ABBA YHWH directed Him to do, everything ABBA YHWH directed Jesus to do, He did.
Jesus taught all the disciples to do all that ABBA YHWH directed them to do.

The very first requirement I remember Jesus telling the disciples so they could be and continue to be His disciples all their lives and for eternity:

Come , follow Me, .... give up everything, this is required if you want to follow Me and be My disciple..... trust your heavenly Father for all of your needs, always.
Rely on ABBA YHWH as HE is FAITHFUL and knows all that you need.
Don't fret nor worry about anything - ABBA YHWH knows and provides all generously .
I (Jesus) AM the GOOD SHEPHERD, tending the sheep. You are My sheep if you follow Me - My sheep know My voice and are not the ones following someone else.
My sheep know My voice and will not follow a stranger.

Thus with many other words, Jesus nurtured and disciplined and trained and provided for His disciples, for His sheep.

The Sign from God ~ Emmanuel

The ultimate fulfillment of that prophesy was the incarnation, born of the virgin Mary, a son of duel nature, God and man, Emmanuel: God with us for the salvation of mankind. He's the Shoot of Jehovah and the fruit of the earth.

Isaiah 4:2
In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.

God with us

Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Matthew 28:20
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

As Immanuel He is inclusive of all of the Godhead

First as our savior

Luke 2:11
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

then our Redeemer

John 1:29
The next day John saw Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world.

our Life-giver

1 Corinthians 15:45
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

and then the indwelling Spirit

John 14:16-20
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but ye know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you.
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Yet a little while, and the world sees me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
Romans 8:9-11
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwell in you.

Emmanuel is the sum total of the Godhead's work in human relations.

The initial return to God, when we first believed and are made members of Christ, is a rebirth into a new family. Jesus, at His resurrection and ascention, was the concrete return of mankind to God. For us the resurrected life is lived in the promise form of faith, hope and love. Sin is still present and seen in the failing of our total commitment to our covenant agreement with Him.

With Jesus in His place of mediator in concrete human destiny and us in the Promise all that's needed to complete the covenant between us is taking our shortcomings to Him in prayer and having Him wipe them clean for us.

Unfortunately prayerlessness is still the least-felt sin. Not asking forgiveness for sins committed is silently giving the conscience license to reoffend. The Holy Spirit's presence is in the forgiveness of sins. The Holy Spirit within helps us to forgive one another and ourselves. Forgiving ground is holy ground.

Children of God
1Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. 2Beloved, we are now children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when Christ appears, we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is. 3And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.…

Another of my favorite old studies on the reliability of the bible ...

Faith in the reliability of the bible is comparable to someone who has a calculator who's components are said to be infallible yet they have no understanding as to why and then compared to a Master Mathematician.
There is a simple faith contained in the bible of faith in Jesus' finished work, in His death and in His resurrection. Knowing that gives you a confidence that is unshakable and places you at His throne of grace to supply all your needs. Your salvation is based on that. It's really all that's needed to have a fulfilling relationship with Christ when minus all the trimmings of religion.

Compare that to the calculations of a master mathematician with understanding of mathematical problems to decipher the universe. Every question is worked out using different means (math/study) so that everything balances out, nothing is left out of the equation.

If somehow faith in God's book as His inspired word has been shaken then the onus is on that person to prove for themselves what has caused unbelief to creep in. We know Christ helps with us in our unbelief.

So if you no longer have simple faith then the onus is on you, the person who was called in the first place and was given faith to believe. Somehow the Spirit has been quenched.

When verifying counterfeit money it is best to study the authentic to recognize the false. The same is true of verifying the Word. Search the scriptures to see if what is being taught is right. We're all responsible/ accountable and we will all have to give an account.

The New Testament verifies the Old Testament while bringing the shadow to the spiritual in most cases if not all. The Israelites had to learn the basics of what God's law represented, learning in the physical what the spiritual application meant to God Himself. Learning what the shadow represents in both the old and new testaments has great advantage. It teaches what God will hold us accountable for. I'm not talking about studying Levitical law. I mean we need to find cross-references as to what the new testament is actually referring to so as to have correct and reliable interpretation. A reference point from A to B. Jesus showed the connection of Himself from the OT to the NT presenting a balance that's sadly lacking in most teachings today.

Continuing with the theme from the previous post led to this old study
Matthew 13:52
Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which brings forth out of his treasure things new and old.

Stewards of the Mystery are those who edify the saints for the purpose of binding them together in love. The method used is that of bringing forth knowledge of Christ and the church in due season. To be stewards of the mystery would mean those in possession of what the mystery means.
Colossians 2:2
That their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love and unto all the riches of the full assurance of understanding, unto the full knowledge of the mystery of God, Christ,

Emotions of love for God as the mystery is revealed, wisdom that is one with the mind of Christ, eventually will result in coming to the full knowledge of Christ. Hence mind, body and spirit are at work in those who are in partnership with the Holy Spirit. Timothy was a steward of the mysteries revealed by Paul and he was instructed to pass those mysteries on to trustworthy people who in turn passed them on to those equipted for the meat of the word, having outgrown the milk that was elementary for babes in Christ.
Ephesians 3:4
By which, in reading it, you can perceive my understanding in the mystery of Christ,
Colossians 4:3
Praying at the same time for us also, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ

We are the embassadors that the angels in heaven and upon the earth look upon to reveal that which is from Christ about the church. They are the great cloud of witnesses that Elisha saw and that we can also feel surrounding us as we witness for Christ.
Ephesians 3:9-12
..to shed light for all about the administration of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things. This is so God’s multi-faceted wisdom may now be made known through the church to the rulers and authorities in the heavens. This is according to His eternal purpose accomplished in the Messiah, Jesus our Lord. In Him we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him.

That which is unsearchable means that it's untracable, previously not made known. These are not doctrines. They are announcements of His riches for us, the church; Christ as light, truth, life, holiness, righteousness. Things He has for us, the accounts of what He has attained for us.

Paul deemed himself to be the least to receive the grace to be an embassador of the mystery. Paul's gift was unique but the grace to achieve maturity is for all.
Ephesians 2:4-8
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us, made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! Together with Christ Jesus He also raised us up and seated us in the heavens, so that in the coming ages He might display the immeasurable riches of His grace through His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—

Propitiation toward reconciliation was not possible before the cross.
Leviticus 23:6-8, Leviticus 23:14, 1 Corinthians 15:20-23
There could be no edification from the firstfruits until they had been waved before the Lord and accepted by Him. Once accepted the nation could be sustained for another year. Jesus, as the reality of the firstfruits, came to fulfill this everlasting ordinance by providing a means thru which all sinners could be forgiven, in repenting to receive the gift of everlasting life. What this means is that for the OT believers is that the means had not yet been opened to them because God had not yet accepted the offering that was foretold in the ritual. The offering had not yet been accepted. John 20:17, John 6:35, John 6:48,
John 5:39-40
“You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that testify on my behalf. Yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

The Lamb offering
Leviticus 23:12
On the day you wave the sheaf, you must sacrifice as a burnt offering to the Lord a lamb a year old without defect,,
Exodus 12:3-5
Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household. If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats.

The significance of the waving of a sheaf offering of the first-fruits is its newness as the very first of the first-fruits of the harvest.
Leviticus 23:14
You shall eat no bread or parched grain or fresh ears until that very day, until you have brought the offering of your God: it is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your settlements.
1 Corinthians 15:20-23
But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have died. For since death came through a human being, the resurrection of the dead has also come through a human being; for as all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ.

Accepting Christ as our Passover, we should also accept him as the first-fruit offering. This leads up to “The Feast of First-Fruits” otherwise known as “Pentecost”.
John 20:1
Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb.
John 20:11-17
But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb; and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to him in Hebrew, “Rabbouni!” (which means Teacher). Jesus said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
Here we see that the Messiah had not yet risen to the Father. He had not yet become the first-fruit of all mankind.
The symbolism of the wave offering is the ascension of Jesus Christ to our Father as first of the first-fruits.

The timing of the ascension to the Father of Jesus Christ, and the sacrifice of the unblemished first-fruits lamb occurred at the same time. Just as the timing of the Messiah giving his life for mankind occurred at the same time as the unblemished Passover lamb was sacrificed.

The single male lamb without blemish is a commanded sacrifice on only two set apart feast dates. One being the Passover lamb and the other being, the Wave Offering lamb.
1 Peter 1:18-21
You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish. He was destined before the foundation of the world, but was revealed at the end of the ages for your sake. Through him you have come to trust in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are set on God.

Hannah

The great significance of her contribution to the bible should be recognized by all theology teachers and any who communicate the bible to others.

-Hannah coined the term "anointed" in her prayer.
-She's the opening figure of the books of Samuel that contain the central thought of fulfilling God's plan thru human co-operation.
-In those books 1&2 Samuel we can see how we can and should enjoy Christ as our portion.
-That being right with God is a condition of that relationship.
-It also shows the negative side of non co-operation with God in the history outlined in the lives of Eli and Saul.
-In giving Hannah a son to fulfill her desire of her heart she exemplified what praying in accordance to the will of Gods was about. God was also fulfilling His desire to replace the Aaronic priesthood with a Nazarite priesthood.

God's name is called on in prayer. The Judaists prayed directly as you can see from Hannah's prayer for example or from Mary's direct prayer in the New Testament.

When you look at Hannah's prayer it was to Him who was majestic and almost beyond reach.
That same prayer was echoed somewhat in Jesus' mother's prayer.
Almost disbelief that the Great I Am would condescend to speak to so small a creature.
But the Lord brought forth His will thru both of them.

Now Jesus is the mediator, thru the Holy Spirit, to the Great Unknown.
He's there and knowable....now we can go boldly. He is the I Am.

It's the knowing that brings us to Him. Not the accent or pronouncement you use to say His name.
Knowing who He is Christian's have further understanding so a clearer path home to our mother the New Jerusalem.

Hannah’s Prayer
1 Samuel 2:1-10

Hannah's prayer expressed her understanding of scripture and the power she placed on God bringing about answered prayer. In giving Hannah a son to fulfill the desire of her heart she exemplified what praying in accordance to the will of God is about.
Numbers 6:2
The Nazarite Vow
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves unto the LORD:

She vowed to give the son of her desire to God for work in His temple and in doing so God's desire was fulfilled to produce a leadership that came from a consecration to Himself.
1 Samuel 3:20
And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was confirmed as a prophet of the LORD.

Her fulfilling of the vow was an accomplished thing in her mind and she immediately gave to God the offering of thanks for His fulfillment of His vow to her in answering prayer.

From Easton's Bible Dictionary.

Nazarite (Hebrew form Nazirite ),
the name of such Israelites as took on them the vow prescribed in Numbers 6:2-21.

The word denotes generally one who is separated from others and consecrated to God. Although there is no mention of any Nazarite before Samson, yet it is evident that they existed before the time of Moses.

The vow of a Nazarite involved these three things,
(1.) abstinence from wine and strong drink,
(2.) refraining from cutting the hair off the head during the whole period of the continuance of the vow, and
(3.) the avoidance of contact with the dead.

When the period of the continuance of the vow came to an end, the Nazarite had to present himself at the door of the sanctuary with
(1.) a he lamb of the first year for a burnt-offering,
(2.) a ewe lamb of the first year for a sin-offering, and
(3.) a ram for a peace-offering.

After these sacrifices were offered by the priest, the Nazarite cut off his hair at the door and threw it into the fire under the peace-offering.

For some reason, probably in the midst of his work at Corinth, Paul took on himself the Nazarite vow. This could only be terminated by his going up to Jerusalem to offer up the hair which till then was to be left uncut.

But it seems to have been allowable for persons at a distance to cut the hair, which was to be brought up to Jerusalem, where the ceremony was completed. This Paul did at Cenchrea just before setting out on his voyage into Syria
(Acts 18:18).

On another occasion (Acts 21:23), at the feast of Pentecost, Paul took on himself again the Nazarite vow.
"The ceremonies involved took a longer time than Paul had at his disposal, but the law permitted a man to share the vow if he could find companions who had gone through the prescribed ceremonies, and who permitted him to join their company.
This permission was commonly granted if the new comer paid all the fees required from the whole company (fee to the Levite for cutting the hair and fees for sacrifices), and finished the vow along with the others.

Four Jewish Christians were performing the vow, and would admit Paul to their company, provided he paid their expenses. Paul consented, paid the charges, and when the last seven days of the vow began he went with them to live in the temple, giving the usual notice to the priests that he had joined in regular fashion, was a sharer with the four men, and that his vow would end with theirs.

Nazarites retired to the temple during the last period of seven days, because they could be secure there against any accidental defilement" (Lindsay's Acts). As to the duration of a Nazarite's vow, every one was left at liberty to fix his own time.

There is mention made in Scripture of only three who were Nazarites for life, Samson, Samuel, and John the Baptist (Judges 13:4, Judges 13:5; 1 Samuel 1:11; Luke 1:15).

In its ordinary form, however, the Nazarite's vow lasted only thirty, and at most one hundred, days.

This institution was a symbol of a life devoted to God and separated from all sin, living a holy life.

Hannah's prayer is prophetic also. The prophecies of Hannah really look deeply into the kingdom of Christ, as the kingdom of grace. And here is the first time also is name MESSIAH, or his Anointed is introduced.

Her vow brought forth the fulfillment of the new priesthood thru Samuel. God will never be w/o a representative of that vow in His court because although often they are neither priests nor levites, nor appear to have had any post in the temple service, yet in a constant course of regular devotion, they stand before God, to minister to him. Here's another example from the book of Jeremiah. Jeremiah 35:14-19

Hannah set an exemplary model of co-operation with God thru a prayer life that issued from the abundance of her heart. Her prayer asking of God was done in silence but her victory song/prayer is recorded for us.
It portrays the wave offering designated to the Nazarite vow of consecration. (this was offered up as a victory of finished business with the Lord) see previous post.

There's a huge difference between offering prayer for ourselves and intercession; the difference can be seen at the altar in the outer court and at the altar of golden incense in the Holy Place and it represents the difference of Christ's earthly work and His work as the only High Priest.

At the altar in the outer court our sins are dealt with.
These are washed away at the laver as we daily wash our hands and feet, our work and our walk, of the daily dust of being in the world.
Jesus says we are to do this for each other as well, when He gave the example of washing the disciples feet;
referring to the dust of each other's contact with the world.

However this isn't intercession to be given at the golden altar.
The golden altar is for giving to God's work, prayers that are associated with God's work, that are in alignment with what the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are doing to further the Kingdom.
This is the joining of prayer with the only High Priest, and the incense being presented in the heavenly tabernacle. The bride and the Spirit saying come to the only wise King thru these prayers.

Nazarites are the overcomers who work priestly work, not kingly work, and who replaced those who were using strange fire. Both kingly and priestly work are needed in His Kingdom that will be fully revealed at His coming.

Deeds are what Christ looks at. God looked at the actions of Hannah and honored her greatly. In the same way Christ spoke of the woman who anointed Him for His buriel. Two bookends to a story.

Contrasts between the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God
I , as a disciple of Jesus for decades, and other disciples and some men of God training disciples in line with God's Word for decades, teach from God's Word,
that the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of Yahweh (God) are the same , in Scripture.
As Jesus told His disciples one day (paraphrased) 'you are ALREADY in the Kingdom, now start living like it' .... because they had been doubting or acting/ living as if they were still 'of the world' waiting for Heaven.
Jesus pointed out to them His Kingdom had already come unannounced, unseen by the eyes (like the scribes and pharisees were looking for - something 'visible') ... and so graciously! They were already in the Kingdom ! (we also, in Christ)

Continueing with my last post from today on the Nazirite vow made by Hannah ...

Paul was a Jew and kept the vow, but he would not and did not impose it on the Gentiles.

Matthew 5
33 “Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’ 34 But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. 36 And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. 37 All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

1 Corinthians 11:6
For if a woman is not covered, let her hair also be cut off; but if it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut off or to be shaved, let her be covered.

Here imo, it shows that discontinuation of the church's consecration according to the Nazirite vow is shameful. . According to the principle of his teaching concerning God's New Testament economy, Paul should have given up all the Jewish practices, which belonged to the Old Testament dispensation. But it serves as an example of Paul's means of teaching that connects the old to the new. We need only say yes to Jesus to be covered by Him.

According to the principle of his teaching concerning God's New Testament economy
We (disciples I know) believe the head covering has been used ever since the Apostles and disciples and ekklesia in the first century, without stop, or recovered as people turned to serve God as disciples according to Scripture.
Apparently the head covering was in common use and expected in all the churches up through or until the 19th century (about 100 to 200 years ago).
It is wonderfully true and gracious that all that Yeshua taught the Apostles, all that Yahweh inspired through them to write a teach, is in total and complete harmony with TORAH which does not pass away even until the end of the world.

The disciples today , although fewer than in the past, where they wear the head coverings as directed in God's Word, have a clear and powerful testimony as disciples of Jesus both as an assembly and as individuals to all who meet them and even those who simply see them.

This seems to be very very awkward if not directly incorrect.

All that Yeshua taught the Apostles, all that Yahweh inspired through them to write a teach, is in total and complete harmony with TORAH.
Always was. Always will be.
Since I have you on ignor I will answer only this ... Paul taught grace not law. Now go irritate someone else.

Yes, the disciples testimony is the same as Yeshua.
Honoring Yahweh all the time, every day, all day and all night, with our whole lives. Grace establishes TORAH, not lawlessness, as Paul substantiates Torah, in line with all Jesus taught Him and how Jesus and all the disciples lived .

The blessings poured out from Yahweh upon all of us in grace
is all the more wondrous and joyous and freedom in Christ all of our lives
and a great testimony to serve Him and bring the word of reconciliation
to others that they might also rejoice in Salvation in Jesus!

A favorite old study, it was my first post when I joined CF.

The True Bride of Christ

The church came out from Jesus as Eve came out of Adam's side. Not created but built up. God is interested only in building His eternal dwelling. This is the governing vision and God's heart's desire is to dwell among us.

The bride is submissive to her Husband, goes to Him with all her questions, is as mute as a lamb having only the Word of God as her only weapon.

The seed of the promise was to come thru Sarah (grace) and not Hagar (law) Galatians 4:21-31

The Bride is also representative of the follower of the Lord 1 Peter 3:5-6

We, as true overcomers, the bride, are the daughter's of Sarah: Galatians 4:28

Not just children of Grace (through Sarah) but of Faith (through Abraham) Galatians 3:29

Not the children of the law (Hagar) but children of grace (Sarah) both being children of Abraham Romans 4:13

Who is the Bride? Look to Galatians 3:28

Abraham looked for a city whose builder and maker was God. That was his faith and we are Abraham's (thru Sarah) children and therefore rightful heirs when we look to the builder of faith to overcome Hebrews 11:10

That is the true New Jerusalem, the Bride.
We are the NEW CREATION 2 Corinthians 5:17, 2 Corinthians 6: Galatians 6:15-18

I love the verses about Hagar and Sarah. Both had promises from God, but only one had the spiritual inheritance given to their offspring.

THE MOTHER AND GRACE ARE THE SAME THING
Galatians 4:21-31
The Jerusalem that is above is free, which is our mother, the metropolis of Christianity, or rather the state of liberty into which all true believers are brought.

Jerusalem which is above is the spiritual Jerusalem, the true church of God.

The word rendered "above" (anw) means, properly, up above, that which is above; heavenly, celestial,
Colossians 3:1-2
Rules for Holy Living
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
John 8:23
But he continued, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world

Here it means, the heavenly or celestial Jerusalem.

Revelation 21:2: "And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God, out of heaven."
Hebrews 12:22: "Ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem."

Here it is used to denote the church, as being of heavenly origin.

Is free. The spirit of the gospel is that of freedom.

It is freedom from sin, freedom from the bondage of rites and customs, and it promotes freedom for all in Christ.
Galatians 4:7
So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.

The House Being Built = New Jerusalem
1 Peter 2:5
you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Such a life shall constantly proclaim his praise--as the sun, the moon, the stars, the hills, the streams, the flowers do, showing what God does. The consistent life of a devoted Christian is a constant setting forth of the praise of God, showing to all that the God who has made them such is worthy to be loved.

Barnes' Notes on 1 Peter 2:9
That ye should show forth the praises of him - Margin, "virtues." The Greek word (a??et?` arete¯) means properly "good quality, excellence" of any kind. It means here the excellences of God - His goodness, His wondrous deeds, or those things which make it proper to praise Him. This shows one great object for which they were redeemed. It was that they might proclaim the glory of God, and keep up the remembrance of His wondrous deeds in the earth. ...
Who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light - Ephesians 4:1. Darkness is the emblem of ignorance, sin, and misery, and refers here to their condition before their conversion; light is the emblem of the opposite, and is a beautiful representation of the state of those who are brought to the knowledge of the gospel. Acts of the Apostles 26:18.

I'm leaving this here for my reference purposes. Matthew 5:37

Intent is acting in a particular manner for a specific reason using a certain means to reach an end. It's a mental attitude that an individual acts upon so therefore isn't directly provable but must be inferred from surrounding facts and circumstances. It's a state of mind with which the act is done or omitted. Differing from motive, which is what prompts a person to act or to fail to act.

An attitude that in Christian terms is referred to as circumcision of the heart. Outward acts of the old circumcision covenant has been replaced with the covenant of inner acts. The spirit of the law takes the law and applies it to the heart where Christ abides and in yielding (which is the state of mind) to the law in obedience it causes growth within. Something the old law could never do.

Romans 2:28-29
For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Living by faith and not by sight from the beginning is a mental assent, a yielding of self that takes place within. Faith comes from hearing but not all that hear believe. Only those who believe recieve. Without believing there is no eternal life, only condemnation. Galatians 3:2, Ephesians 1:13

Because we stand before Him rightly accepted thru Christ He becomes to us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption Philippians 3:9

The patterns are there. The only thing that remains permanant to this world is child bearing and the means to obtain it.
Hebrews 1 says that in this day all is made known thru His Son where previously it was made known thru the prophets and various other means.

In the maintainance of the truth to prevent decline, Paul said it's God's will that all His loved ones come to a full knowledge of truth. That the truth is to be maintained thru scripture 1 Timothy 2:15, that scripture is to be unfolded with precision 2 Timothy 2:15, and that those who deviate from that truth, the reality of what he taught presented in the scriptures, should return to it. 2 Timothy 2:25

Paul taught according to the spirit of the law and never the letter of the law.

Just cleaning up thoughts before going on Christmas holidays :sparkles::whiteflower::heartribbon:

Before receiving the Holy Spirit of Pentecost fire, after Jesus bodily ascended to heaven, the disciples were given the breath of new life. John 20:22 so before Pentecost they had received the breath of new life already which was for their living in Him. (for the purpose of sanctification)
In receiving the Holy Spirit in the breath of life they would, at that time, be prepared to receive the Understanding.
Understanding is for us the mirror that gets clearer and clearer as we spend time with Him.

OTOH .....

The anointing on those for service comes later after understanding... (at Pentecost to be led by fire)
Luke 24:45-4
Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

Their minds were opened so understanding of the scriptures was given to them. But to be effective witnesses they needed to wait to be clothed with power from on high.

Being born again and being empowered to witness are different things. One is permenant and ongoing , the other is not.
As an example Peter was empowered when He witnessed about Christ being the Son of God to which Jesus gave the highest of praise but not so a few minutes later. Jesus rebuked him then for being of a different spirit. ( He went from being empowered from on high to his natural state that of learning from Jesus)

My believe is that believers cannot lose their salvation, but they can forfeit their salvation (i.e. they can willingly throw it away by rebelling against God).
But I think that's only possible by those who have "trampled underfoot the Son of God and have considered the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing and has insulted the Spirit of grace"
It's because in self-proclaimed pearls of wisdom they blaspheme the Holy Spirit. They trade gaining Christ to return to refuse. Philippians 3:8 in complete rejection of Christ they return to their own vomit. They throw away the only advocate they have and fall into the hands of the living God.

HOWEVER most Christians remain Christians (not having thrown away Christ but merely walked away into sin) and then the rewards are only at stake see post #43
Those are dealt with at the throne of grace where they are covered by the blood of the lamb for the purpose of cleansing the conscience. Hebrews 9:1-23, Hebrews 10:22

SO .......

The process of sanctification must include the assumption that the Spirit can be quenched. Repeatedly doing so results in a conscience that is seared 1 Timothy 4:2

The message of the gospel calls for radical transformation of life. We don't remain as we are then suddenly after death all is taken care of for us. Acceptance of God’s provision of righteousness in Christ demands the outworking of righteousness in our own lives and the putting away of sin. Romans 7 and much of scripture deals with that. Changing from glory to glory is the process by which we continually see more clearly.

The Holy Spirit within kindles a fire Matthew 3:11 of love to God and mankind; the ardor of which may be damped or quenched, by refusing it free air to play in. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-19 indicates prayer is for the feeding of the flame. The sense of warning and restraint that the Spirit gives is in a still small voice and if too caught up in worldly affairs to detect His voice, it will be quenched, and spiritual life will be impaired. 2 Timothy 2:4
Grieving the Holy Spirit is much the same thing.Ephesians 4:30 Hardening of the heart would be God's OT terms.

Song of Solomon 8:6-7
"Put me like a seal over your heart, Like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death, Jealousy is as severe as Sheol; Its flashes are flashes of fire, The very flame of the LORD. "Many waters cannot quench love, Nor will rivers overflow it; If a man were to give all the riches of his house for love, It would be utterly despised."

Edit To Add:
Luke 24:49
And behold, I send forth the promise of My Father upon you; but as for you, stay in the city until you put on power from on high.

That was the promise from Joel 2:28-29 that the Father promised fulfilled at Pentecost and different from receiving the breath of new life from Jesus to receive the Holy Spirit.

John 20:22
And when He had said this, He breathed into them and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.

"... I would rather speak five words with my mind in order to instruct others, than ten thousand words in a tongue." so although Paul encourages the gifts he addresses abuse especially with tongues and encourages balance. He is careful not to disqualify these acts which presents a paradoxical focus of "as the Spirit wills" with the over zealous Corinthians' will. Paul's not afraid to call people out and be blunt so it's unclear why he seems more softer in his approach here. All of this develops a case of balance between the will of the Spirit and the will of the individual.

Sorry it wasn't post 43 that rewards are. I thought I had posted it. I don't have time to look for it so I'll re-post it.

Most Christians these days have an unclear view of the reward system. Many use the doctrine of pergatory to explain away what is easily rightly divided in the Word in recognition of the difference between the millenium and eternity. Like the prophets of old who couldn't see the church age in the valley when viewing eternity, so too with these 2 trains of thoughts, they cannot see the valley of the millenium when viewing eternity. The prophets of old had an excuse.
1 Peter 1:12
It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in regard to the things that have now been announced to you through those who brought you good news by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things into which angels long to look!

AND this is definately Not confined to any specific denominations even tho they don't term it as pergatory.

Neither of these schools of thought recognize the reward of the kingdom; even moreso, they do not see the suffering of the loss of the kingdom reward. Both consider all the negative points in verses refering to the rewards as referring to perdition.

Otoh school A , believing in eternal salvation regards all the negative points of reward scripture as applying to the perdition of false believers; while school B, believing that a saved person will perish if he falls, regards these points as applying to the perdition of believers who have fallen.

But the complete revelation of the Bible shows that these negative points refer to the suffering of the loss of the kingdom reward. God's salvation is eternal; once we obtain it, we will never lose it John 10:28-29. But we may suffer the loss of the kingdom reward, even though we still will be saved 1 Corinthians 3:8, 1 Corinthians 3:14-15.

Hebrews 6 refers to those who have fallen away yet have repented in baptism, tasted of the heavenly (note John the baptist had the ministry of baptism of repentance) (not to be repeated) Hebrews 10 refers to those who never believed but treated His sacrifice as a common thing and insulted the Holy Spirit.
Hebrews 12:28
Therefore receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us have grace, through which we may serve God well-pleasingly with piety and fear;

The Hebrew believers had received the kingdom, but they risked losing the reward in the manifestation of the kingdom if they shrank back from the grace of God, from God's new covenant way.

The kingdom in its reality, or the reality of the kingdom, is an exercise and a discipline to us Matthew 5:3, 10, 20; Matthew 7:21 in the church today whereas the kingdom in its manifestation will be a reward and an enjoyment to us Matthew 16:27; Matthew 25:21, 23 in the millennial kingdom in the coming age.

If we take the Spirit's exercise and God's discipline in the reality of the kingdom today, we will receive the Lord's reward and enter into the enjoyment of the coming Sabbath rest Hebrews 4:9 in the manifestation of the kingdom in the coming age; otherwise, we will miss the coming kingdom, we will not be rewarded with the manifestation of the kingdom at the Lord's coming back, we will have no right to enter into the glory of the kingdom to participate in Christ's reign in the millennial kingdom, and we will lose our birthright and therefore will be unable to inherit the earth in the coming age, to be the royal priests serving God and Christ in His manifested glory, and to be Christ's co-kings ruling all the nations with His divine authority Revelation 20:4, 6.

This is the basic concept on which all five warnings in Hebrews are given and with which they are all pervaded. All the negative points of these warnings are related to the suffering of the loss of the reward in the coming kingdom, whereas all the positive points are related to the reward and enjoyment of the kingdom. All seven epistles in Revelation 2 and Revelation 3 conclude with this same concept — the reward of the kingdom or the loss of it.

Here's a list of scripture pertaining to rewards:
Matthew 5:20; Matthew 7:21-23; Matthew 16:24-27; Matthew 19:23-30; Matthew 24:46-51; Matthew 25:11-13, 21, 23, Matthew 25:26-30; Luke 12:42-48; Luke 19:17, 19, Luke 19:22-27; Romans 14:10, 12; 1 Corinthians 3:8, 13-15; 1 Corinthians 4:5; 1 Corinthians 9:24-27; 2 Corinthians 5:10; 2 Timothy 4:7-8; Hebrews 2:3; Hebrews 4:1, 9, 11;Hebrews 6:4-8; Hebrews 10:26-31, 35-39; Hebrews 12:16-17, 28-29; and Revelation 2:7, 10-11, 17, 26-27; Revelation 3:4-5, 11-12, 20; Revelation 22:12.

The light of the world has come into the world as the 'Expression of God' bringing into view the true image of God, but natural mankind can not see it. Being blinded by the fall, in seeing they see not, hearing they hear not because the 'Consciousness of God' has not reached their eyes or ears. The Incarnation doesn't do that. It's the shadow of the reality for them.

So then, what provides the clear view of God for those who have a quickened intelligence to see the 'Divine self-Revelation' contained within The Incarnation?

Reconciliation.

When mankind, thru the mystery of the atonement, is reconciled, and with the miracle of regeneration, then in the 'Vision of God' granted in Christ, mankind will also be reconciled in intelligence, emotion and in will in the process of completion.

The Incarnation has made the provision for the reconciliation of the whole being for every human being in the entire world. But into this reconciliation mankind will only pass as they becomes reconciled to the life, death and resurrection of Christ Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:18-19, Colossians 1:19-22, Romans 5:10, Ephesians 1:7, Ephesians 2:16, 2 Corinthians 6:2

Being so reconciled, the full salvation proceeds thru the harmonizing facts of His being. (sanctification) Contained within reconciliation and sanctification is the revelation of all the possibilities that that Man Jesus is and has for us, under the constraint of the infinite 'Love of God' revealed also in Him. Romans 5:10

When John spoke of walking in the truth (Greek=reality) he meant in genuineness and sincerity and so denotes the divine reality becoming mankind's genuineness and sincerity. (the opposite of hypocrisy) God is the source of light, truth is the realization of the divine life in us. John 1:9 The human spirit controls the mind to keep it within the revealed Word of God and the mind controls the body. All as a result of the Holy Spirit's leading and as a result of our yeilding to the Holy Spirit the unknown mystery is being made known. John 16:13, Acts of the Apostles 17:24-31

Jesus' last Word given in the bible is a revelation to the churches so we'll do well to examine what He has to say to us, His church Body:

1) When we are losing that first passion He reveals Himself as one who walks in the midst, judging. He's the unchanging One therefore our commitment to Him should not change either.
2) To those being persecuted He reveals Himself as one who had died and rose again, assuring us of His faithfulness in the case of martyrdom.
3) But for those full of hypocrisies He is a two-edged sword of judgement.
4) Where His position has been usurped there is only the darkness of satan covering over His truth.
5) Some churches are full of death and so to those in that condition the Lord reveals Himself as the bright shining star and the Spirit of life.
6) Those who have brotherly love are considered without blemish, so the Lord opens wide the door of anointing that they might have a great increase in precious life-giving.
7) To the worldly church the Lord reveals Himself as One kept outside the door.

-He knows all of our works whether they be good or evil (SO YOU BETTER WATCH OUT ;) Guess who's getting ready to come to town ) so we all must bear our own responsibility because, He says "I know your works".
Some have works but no love, some have both works and love, while some are completely worldly. The sins of one are not imputed to the others in His address. None of the churches are accountable to the others in His final words. All are judged according to their works. Works have nothing to do with salvation
Christ makes no mention of some of the works of the churches as if they had none. But He knows of their condition. Endurance can be one of the best of works. To each condition He states the affliction and His view regarding the works and environment. He's just in exposing our sins and He's kind in revealing our merits. Thru the many errors and evils He doesn't hide the good works. His praise always comes first before His reprimand, but woe to those who have no praise coming from the Lord!

-He gives praise for loyalty, tribulation, poverty, faithfulness, works, love, faith, diligence, patience, good works, purity, and endurance

-While His rebukes are for coldness, heresy, fornication, self-exaltation, worldliness, weakness, imperfection, being alive in name but dead in reality, being neither cold nor hot, wretchedness, misery, poverty of spirit, blindness, and nakednes. Some church examples are without any rebuke and some are without any praise.

So it may be good to see ourselves with His eyes, whether we like to or not, simply because we`re told to examine ourselves so that we will not to be judged. When we see praise know also that all our sins are laid bare before our Lord. No matter at what point the fall is, the Lord commands repentance. We should also ought not to consider our good deeds but rather those that are in need of repentance because the Lord`s purpose is to make us over-comers.

"But if not, I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place, unless you repent" Revelation 2:5

"Repent therefore; but if not, I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war with them with the sword of My mouth" Revelation 2:16

"If therefore you will not watch, I will come as a thief" Revelation 3:3

In repentance, help is available! His last speech to His Body of Believers are promises of special spiritual blessings to usward!

We can return to our first love!

We can receive a martyrs crown!

We can recover the pure truth!

We can remove idolotry from our midst!

We can renew our vigil for His return!

We can have the wide open door

and He can fill our lack!

The Lord has grace for all of us who are willing to receive it! And He promises great rewards to those who do become the over-comers Revelation 2:7,10,11,17,26-28 Revelation 3:5, 12,21

Reading about the confusion in the churches should make us all the more aware of the confusion in our own (church)life. We can`t afford to be complacent. Buy the eye salve and the fine linen! Revelation 3:18, Genesis 41:42

These promises are rewards from God. Don`t confuse this with salvation or perdition. Salvation is in believing the Lord`s work accomplished, over-coming is drawing upon the Lord`s grace daily to allow His cross and the Spirit to overcome sin, world, flesh and satan. The glory is in the city to come, so let's forego the pleasures and endure the scorn of this world, and let the attraction being in that yet to come! The Almighty Lord is calling to those who have ears to hear. We ought to listen to what the Spirit is saying to us, His church Body.

In Trust and Loyalty is belief in Jesus of Nazareth

Satan's lies are anything that turns a person's thoughts to a worldly perspective rather than focusing on what Jesus has accomplished for us at the cross and in His resurrection.
Being of a double mind so as to place as nothing that which cannot be seen and living in what is revealed to the mind as being true, thereby limiting His power in us and not living in faith (which is the hope of that unseen)
Satan would have us live as fed animals instead of children of the most high.

What the disciples had during the time of Jesus' earthly life, was the ability to live beyond the obvious.

The practice of believing satan's lies, thru philosophy and humanistic thinking, is responsible for the decline of Christianity as we now know it, having progressed into the age of Laodecia and being badly in need of salve for the eyes and clothing fit for our position in Christ.

The double minded person:
James 1:8
[For being as he is] a man of two minds (hesitating, dubious, irresolute), [he is] unstable and unreliable and uncertain about everything [he thinks, feels, decides].
James 4:8
come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].
