• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi, it has been a while since I have posted here and I hope it's in the right place. I keep struggling with my ocd thoughts and it feels like I'm not resting in Jesus to save me. I keep fighting my thoughts and I know I need to just trust Jesus Christ but it's hard for me to rest in Him when I am fighting the thoughts and it shouldn't be hard to rest in Jesus but for me it is. I also struggle making it through a prayer because of my ocd thoughts. For what type of thoughts I'm having you can look at my old posts if you want and those are it. I just want to be saved and know that I'm close to God and Jesus. Sorry for the long post, I'm just so wanting to make sure that I'm saved. Thank you everybody for reading and may God bless you all. Jesus is Lord. Please keep me in your prayers

Hey there! You have definitely come to the right place. And my first two posts on CF have been much longer than this so don't worry! I have not read your older posts regarding your intrusive thoughts, but I want to encourage you by telling you that you'll be prayed for and you are not alone. I don't have OCD but I definitely have struggled with similar symptoms/thoughts throughout the last year, especially because I went through a lot of transitions after graduating college, and I was in vain searching for help in a toxic church community, and from people who just didn't seem to care. I did not stop loving Jesus, but I did grow cold for awhile to anything involving him, church, prayer, you name it. On top of this I received false teaching; for awhile I just believed that Jesus forgot about me because I just sinned too much. I still struggle with crippling anxiety remnant from my recent struggles, but after seeking out my best friend and a Christian counselor, who pointed me back to Him at the perfect time (when I got booted out of my summer job), God gave me freedom I now experience daily through some verses I hope can bring comfort to you now.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. ~ Romans 8:26

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? No - I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. ~ Romans 8:35-38 NLT

For it is by grace you have been saved, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

Our God is a loving father. Because of His love, demonstrated through the cross, He understands your worries even before you speak a word. Since you long to know the character of God and love Him, you were saved the minute you called His name, and there's no sin, misspoken prayer, or anxious thought that can change your secured status in His presence. His arms will always be around you. Love your username by the way, when it doubt, just type it into your log in! Welcome back to CF. God bless you! :)

I so understand your struggles!! You are not alone. I am praying for you! The key is faith and trust, not letting those unwanted thoughts rule us. That can be so tough with OCD, but we can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens us.

Just know that I am thinking of you and praying for you. We can overcome through Jesus. I am convinced that there is a purpose in all of this. I am convinced that God can use every experience and work it into something that will glorify Him if we remain in trust and faith. If we have put our faith and trust in Jesus we are God's children. You are a loved child of God.

Keep reaching, keep seeking, and try to let the thoughts rest. I listen to a lot of Joyce Meyers and you might find that helpful. She talks a lot on the mind, and the mind being a battlefield. She also speaks on how we can be confident in Christ if our faith is Him. We do not have to be perfect. We are sinners saved by grace through faith in our glorious Savior Jesus. If there is something we cannot change on our own, we can pray about it, trust God, and in His timing it will be done. He sees the big picture when we cannot. Even if our circumstances don't change for the next several years or more we can know, trust in, and rely on God. He will give us the grace to get through.

Hang in there my friend!! I love you with the love of the Lord. I still struggle, but I am trying to give you all the tools that I have been using on my journey through this. Please message me anytime.

I also believe there is power confessing scripture. We can read and study the Bible in areas of our weakness and speak them aloud and claim them for ourselves.

Genesis 15:6
And Abram believed the LORD, and the LORD counted him as righteous because of his faith.

1 John 3:20
for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.

Hi @God is good,

Remember, salvation is not earned, it is given as a free gift, up-front. Therefore we wage our war from, not to, a position of victory. If you dwell in that victory now, "ahead of time", you will have peace as you work to make the victory manifest. Rest is a weapon.
