People who know my story realize I am a graduate of fundamentalist Bob Jones University.

It's pretty much of a stretch therefore that I not only ended up as a Catholic priest, but I was ordained and now serve here in Greenville, South Carolina on the doorstep of BJU.

Sometimes people ask if there is any animosity between us. There isn't any on my part, but I can certainly understand their point of view if some people from that world regard me as a traitor, a heretic and seriously deluded person. I get it.

Interesting article. I'm not sure that I've heard an explanation of what the Immaculate Conception means.
That's quite a leap from Bob Jones to the Catholic priesthood. He was probably well prepared for seminary having gone there though. You woudn't think, but I've heard that they are quite rigorous academically.

He made a stop at the Episcopal Church as a priest there before becoming Catholic as well.

In some ways, Bob Jones would be closer theologically to Catholicism than the Episcopal Church, at least the mainline church. Fundamentalists wouldn't believe in the Immaculate Conception, but would believe in the Virgin Birth and bodily resurrection of Christ. And would also be pro-life, opposed to gay marriage, and to universalism.
