How many remember this little novelty ditty?

McDonald's - Menu Song Lyrics | MetroLyrics

I remember when they gave these little records out at McDonald's. On the record, they would sing the full song once all the way through, then attempt to sing it again, not too successfully. The winning record was an exception to this, where they sang the entire song all the way through the second time around. The prize was $1,000,000! Somebody had to have won it. Unfortunately, that somebody was not me.

Still, it was a fun record to listen to. :)

Here's what a modern teenager today will say when they are in their 40's:

"I remember the good-old days!... the time when I had a smart-phone where I could text my girlfriend the entire day, even when we couldn't be together. Oh, and my PlayStation 4 was the coolest thing ever! Dude, my car was sweet back then too! I had this radio that would connect with that old Bluetooth technology. lol Remember that? We had one of those microwave type ovens back then where I'd cook these things called "Hot Pockets". Too funny. They all tasted the same no matter what flavor you bought. That was way before the self-heated meal packs of today. Talk about a waste of electricity! But I still love the 2017 music, which was a mixture of just about every genre you could think of. Now all we hear is that robotic, pulsating noise being injected in our ears. Sometimes I wish I could just turn it off but then again, the government would instantly zap me into their holding cells for examination. Boy, I miss the good old days.

I love the 80s too. This decade had the best music, t.v. shows and movies, IMHO. I can get really nostalgic when it comes to remembering and reminiscing about my childhood in the 80s.

We DVR old MTV 80's videos. Shhhh.....

When you watch those old music videos they are hilarious! None of them make any sense. They just threw a bunch of stuff together in a collaboration of confusing themes. Not ALL of them of course, but a large majority. I can't believe I sat there and watched that stuff. Oh wait....we still do. Doh! lol

When Strawberry Shortcake looked like this....

...as opposed to this:

Strawberry-Shortcake-180x300.jpg

(Not that there's anything really wrong with the latter.)

You know you still have a streak of an 8 year old in you when you squeal when seeing the ORGINAL STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE in a store!!! But I have no shame! My husband still goes after these silly comic stuff that a 12 year old boy would go after, so my behaviour is well justified! LOL! ^_^

I had an older brother who put up with me and played Lincoln Logs/Army Men with me. We both built a fort with the logs, then hid army men inside and on the outside in strategic spots. We took turns lobbing a small log piece at the army men and forts and the last man standing won. I think we did this every single day for a long time. Ahhh...the simple games we so much fun. Especially ones we just made up.

I absolutely understand what you're talking about. I mean, you just can't help it! Nostalgia has a way of coming up and striking us when we least expect it. And then, as you said, we are 8 again! :girl::balloon::circustent::icecreamcone::spaceinvader:

That's about the way it works.

Parent were awesome back then too.... Well, maybe not. lol

I use to play on the curb of our street, which sits on a curved hill where cars would be going up and down the street all the time. We would sit on the curb and let our Hotwheels roll down the gutter and "race" them. I remember cars brushing by us all the time and didn't think anything of it. Sometimes tires from vehicles would get so close to us I thought they were going to run over our Hotwheels! I look back at this now and think...."Uh mom, what were you thinking??" I'd never in a million years allow my kids to sit on the curb of a busy road and play. Yikes!

And driving around without wearing seatbelts. Sitting in the car while mom went grocery shopping and banking without the worry of cops being called on us! Seeing more and more reports of parents leaving children in cars while paying for gas. So what? It's not like the parent's gonna be gone for an eternity! We are honestly living in a world of paranoia!

As a child I use to play with Hotwheels on the back dash area of our big Ford Galaxy 500 my father had. I think I'd even lay up there and look at the clouds while they drove. Times have changed for sure.

Granted, this is for our safety but man, those were the days! IF we were all lucky enough to survive. When you look at other countries they still do these things.

Amsterdam has more cyclist than any other country and guess what? Nearly 100% of them DO NOT wear head gear and there are very few injuries as a result. Do a Google road walk through the city and just look at all the bikes and people. You see, this country is all about marketing and making the almighty dollar. Why are helmets so popular in the US? Marketing! One time I was riding my bike on a nature path and was probably the only one who wasn't wearing a helmet. I was given some pretty interesting looks too. I felt out of place to be honest but then again, I am not one to conform to society. lol

I loved the 80's, favorite cartoons were Super Friends, Transformers, GI. JOE, Incredible HULK, Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends, and HE-MAN. The Star Wars trilogy were my favorite movies. MTV came a little later in the 80's for me, but I watched and listened for hours and hours in the summers. I think overall my favorite cable channel was Superstation TBS out of Atlanta GA, and I watched wrestling during those days and always preferred the NWA over WWF. Oh man thinking about their intro/theme music, Rick Flair, Sting, Lex Luger and the Road Warriors, what a fun filled drama ride. ^_^ Used to own a tub filled with wrestling magazines. Puberty and High School had a way of changing all my interests though. It's pure nostalgia in my forties, even moreso raising a little boy has the effect of re-kindling the kid at heart.
