Lord have mercy.

Have you tried reading suitable Psalms as prayer? The Psalms are a prayerbook, and express pretty much anything we might want to pray. Maybe the action of focusing on reading will help focus your mind on the words, and at the same time maybe reading Scriprure will help. Praying the Psalms does both at the same time.

Also praying Lily. Music can be a blessing, music is what I turned to after I came to Jesus from my past life. Creating music in my case and also a different depth or genre of music than I had been accustomed to with the old me.

God Bless You Lily.

Keep your Armour of God on. - Ephesians 6:10-18

And:

Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

When evil thoughts are placed in my head by the enemy.

I start singing (in my head) the following on repeat:

Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost but now I'm found was blind but now I see.

Also I put on an Audio Bible and lay down and listen to the Word of God when I feel much anxiety

:)

i have kindle fire had it fora year now both me and my husband use it my husband uses it mostly for games and for using when he is waiting for me or waiting at an appointment like the drs
i find that its useful for books without pictures books with the pictures are to small to read them even if i try to get it bigger its still too small as i found out after buying a picture bible witch was a lot of money
if you want to get anything like comics etc just buy them and get it sent to you rather than using the kindle

oops this has turned to a review of the kindle oops sorry there are other good book readers out there too

There should be plenty of audio Bible options free online if that's what you want. YouTube, available by audio podcast, embedded in websites. I'm not sure what you would prefer, but search fir that and you can have it for free immediately.

If you can't find it, let us know what kind of format you want to play and what book(s) you're looking for and I'm sure we can help you find a link.

Lily,

Have you been diagnosed with OCD by a professional (psychologist, psychiatrist?)

Regarding intrusive thoughts, just let that thoughts be there, as awful as they are. Everyone has weird or even scary thoughts but are able to let them go. Those with OCD aren’t able to. We have a disturbing thought then think that it may say something about us when it doesn’t.

Praying for them to go away, or memorizing verses to say whenever the thought comes up, fuels the false belief that the thought is a threat.

And OCD is not of the devil. The thoughts you are experiencing are the result of a misfiring brain.

I have OCD and have had blasphemous thoughts. They’re awful and scary and letting them be there is easier said than done. Getting therapy and doing Exposure Response Prevention was the thing that made a big difference for me.

Not that you shouldn’t pray. But instead of trying to pray the thoughts away, maybe pray that God helps you let the thought just be there.

Getting professional help from a therapist who knows about and has treated people with OCD is the best course of action. Look up Exposure Response Prevention therapy; it helps with OCD.

As a worship team participant, overtly Christian music doesn't really work for me much. I enjoy playing it, but I usually find the words pretty vapid. However, I really enjoy a lot of "subtlely" Christian songs and they are VERY powerful.

These two may be just what you need. They each make their own very strong point that might help:

those songs are so beautiful very strong very powerful just want i need to hear thank you so much for posting them
You will notice that I'm into songs, sermons and messages that hit us where we live. God is so much bigger than the "church religious" experience. I see him in the DNA of the grasshoppers and grass as I mow the lawn. I see him in the forces that hold the atoms together that make our world real. He is literally EVERYWHERE, ALL THE TIME. And he is always listening and waiting.

I never said you shouldn't pray. Just that you shouldn't pray that God take the intrusive thoughts away should they come up because that would be considered a compulsion. I often pray when my OCD gets bad, but not that God take the thoughts away. Just something like, "Lord, my OCD is bad right now. Please be with me."

Hi Lily, how terrible you are experiencing this. Unfortunately I know very well what you're going through.
The thing I've learned to be working best is to let the thoughts be. The more you fight them the more they will force themselves to you! This is very important. It's hard to do but just practice. Just think and be aware of them like 'Hey there's another thought....' and try to do nothing. Thoughts will come and go even when you do nothing. It was a big part of my therapy and it helped me most. When you practice this you'll find out that in the beginning you think it will never work but when you keep practising the thoughts will leave you a lone sooner and sooner. You can do it. God's with you and will help you. I'm sure of it. So start practising now and don't give up! I agree with celtictoots reply. Take care you, you're not alone!

It sounds like your experiencing what MANY people experience which is a mild form of OCD Scrupulosity.
You have thoughts that are exalting themselves against the knowledge of Christ which GOD told us to cast down. ( 2 Corinthians 10:5 )
The only way we can do that is speaking against them in the name of JESUS.
With MUCH PRAYER, FASTING, and getting HANDS LAID ON YOU BY HOLY SPIRIT FILLED PEOPLE they do go away. ( Mark 16:17-18 )

some people tell you to pray that you can deal with them but you can also PRAY enough that they NEVER come into the mind or very few.

I will be praying for you as well!
