We all say it doesn't matter, but this is the truth. The first guy to come in the sky, showing signs and wonders, who look like any of these pictures, will have most of Christianity falling down to worship him.

Mat 24:40
Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

This is a repeat of passover. The one left is the wheat not the tare. Taken means taking the soul.

Forgive me...

Is. 53: 1. Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,

and like a root out of dry ground.

He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,

nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

Jesus was very approachable.

all this says is that he might have been ugly.

does it matter?

After Jesus was raised it is written....

13That same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. 14They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15And as they talked and deliberated, Jesus Himself came up and walked along with them. 16But their eyes were kept from recognizing Him.

17He asked them, “What are you discussing so intently as you walk along?”

They stood still, with sadness on their faces. 18One of them, named Cleopas, asked Him, “Are You the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in recent days?”

19“What things?” He asked.

“The events involving Jesus of Nazareth,” they answered. “This man was a prophet, powerful in speech and action before God and all the people. 20Our chief priests and rulers delivered Him up to the sentence of death, and they crucified Him. 21But we were hoping He was the One who would redeem Israel. And besides all this, it is the third day since these things took place.

22Furthermore, some of our women amazed us. They were at the tomb early this morning, 23but they did not find His body. They came and told us they had seen a vision of angels who said that Jesus was alive. 24Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had described. But Him they did not see.”

Jesus Opens the Scriptures

25Then Jesus said to them, “O foolish ones, how slow are your hearts to believe all that the prophets have spoken.
26
Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and then to enter His glory?” 27And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them what was written in all the Scriptures about Himself.

28As they approached the village where they were headed, He seemed to be going farther. 29But they pleaded with Him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.”

So He went in to stay with them. 30While He was reclining at the table with them, He took bread, spoke a blessing and broke it, and gave it to them. 31Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Jesus—and He disappeared from their sight.

32They asked one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us as He spoke with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” 33And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem.

There they found the eleven and those with them, gathered together 34and saying, “The Lord has indeed risen, and He has appeared to Simon!”

35Then the two told what had happened on the road, and how they had recognized Jesus in the breaking of the bread.

Jesus Appears to the Disciples
(John 20:19-23; 1 John 1:1-4)

36While they were describing these events, Jesus Himself stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” 37But they were startled and frightened, thinking they had seen a spirit.

38“Why are you troubled,” Jesus asked, “and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39Look at My hands and My feet. It is I Myself. Touch Me and see—for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” 40And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and feet.

In answering your question, I would never identify Jesus with a visual que, rather as the versus above clearly indicates, that his heart, that is his personality and his heart felt outward projection, is what would identify the real Jesus, from the one fabricated by the world and the coming of Lucifer. The heart of Jesus is what opens our eyes to recognise him for who he is. The evidence of identity is in the heart and not by a projected visual que.

Your inquisitive thread, is so important to investigate, with the reference to scripture, as to always ask the question that begs.......

Why were the disciples kept from recognising Jesus, until something had clicked in their hearts, before he was revealed visually. This in itself is a miracle that happened, where the heart of Jesus was being revealed to them bit by bit. How many times Jesus would remind them as follows.....

O foolish ones, how slow are your hearts to believe all that the prophets have spoken.

“Why are you troubled,” Jesus asked, “and why do doubts arise in your hearts.

They asked one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us as He spoke with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us.

How Jesus wants to reveal himself seems through heart ques and not visual ques. So we can know that the true Messiah, most certainly will not be recognised by the world, through visual ques, yet in vast contrast, the false Messiah to come will be recognised by the world on his visual que.

That is why your thread is so important for me to contribute in, to highlight scriptural facts to why all those visual ques you opened the thread with are not How we ought to recognise Jesus, if we are to overcome the great deception to come.

I will close it of with Jesus's beautiful words....

15“If you love me, keep my commands. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. (John 14:15-20)

When I see Jesus in my mind I know that we look like Him as he did when He inhabited the same earth we do. But I do not see Him as an icon of any kind. To worship Him is to worship the holiness of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit and in that manner I do not see a figure, but a flame burning to purge us of earthly desires. I see water to wash us cool and clean. The pureness of His blood that cleanses us of our sinful nature. I see the heavens open to permit us to sup with Him. My image of Jesus is that he stands in the robe of Holiness but His face is not visible due to the brilliance of His majesty. I do not see an icon. I see what I feel when He shows me what true Love is.

Historically, it does matter.

Do you know the source of the third one?

sinai.jpg

It's called the Pantokrator. (Almighty or All Powerful)

It dates to 525ad and is the figure painted by a nun on Mt. Siania.

It is the first figure of Christ as an adult.
It is a direct representation of what "she" (the nun) saw when looking at the shroud of Edessa.

(The emphasis of the left eye is due to restoration efforts.)

So what does that tell us? Well, this picture when overlaid with the image on the shroud of turin, matches exactly, even down to the flowers above the head left and right.

So the shroud is not from the 1400's as many have believed. It is the shroud of Edessa.

That takes it back to being an ancient artifact in the year 525ad.

We know the history of the the shroud of Edessa. That it was given to the King there by Joseph of Arimathea, and upon siege, the king hid it within the walls of the city over the gate, where it was found in 515ad.

Since that time, the icon of the Almighty has been used on the ceiling of Orthodox Christian Temples.

All Icons before 525ad, portrayed Christ as a Child, with his mother presenting HIM. St. Luke made several.

(The Christmas story; "Theotokos and Child", accompanied the book of Matthew when it was distributed.)

Forgive me...
Yep. That’s the ACTUAL appearance

Perhaps the Jesus we see should look like this:

Matthew 25:31-46

-CryptoLutheran

God forbid!

The Supremacy of the Son of God

15The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, (1 Colossians 11:5-19)

The glorified Christ, who sits on the right hand of THE Power and THE Majesty would be a far cry from that imagery.

When he was on earth and in the human flesh, his imagery would be as the suffering servant......

2He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or Majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
3He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. 4Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. 5But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:2-5)

The resurrected and glorified Christ's imagery, is described in Revelation of Jesus Christ. This would be in vast contrast to that when he was on earth and in the human flesh as the suffering servant.

I saw seven golden lampstands,13and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest.14The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. 15His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance. (Revelation 1:13-16)

The earthly christ/messiah, who comes posing as the suffering servant is the Prince of this world, the Devil aka Lucifer.

The resurrected and glorified Christ comes as the sword of God, bringing swift judgement upon the wicked and those who stand with the false messiah, who poses as the suffering servant.

This is very important to discern brothers and sisters.

The real Messiah will never pose as a suffering servant. He is the anointed Most High. He is our Crowned Monarch!

The many false christs who are here and have been throughout the last 2000 years have posed as suffering servants. This is how you shall know them.

Anyone who claims the office of Messiah, or places themselves in place of Messiah, and portrays themselves as a suffering servant, is an imposter, for he is Anti-Christos.

So you're saying that someone came later and added halo's to this icon?

VirginMary.jpg

Forgive me...

the most likely scenario is it's either a 4th century original attributed to Luke or a 4th century reproduction with added halos.

Mat 25:35-40
Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of thesemy brothers, you did it to me.’
