Hi all. My mum (55 years old) (non christian) has metastatic breast cancer in her bone. it is in her spine, pelvis and shoulder.

God has been gracious towards me during these emotionally tough times by giving me a great support network. But my dad who is also a christian, is miserable and struggling to cope with the reality of losing his wife and best friend. and also my mum isnt a christian. before her diagnosis she was reluctant to discuss faith saying it wasnt for her. now she does listen but still seems quite unreceptive to truth.

so not only do I face losing my mum, I also face having to live with the horror of knowing my loving and kind mum will spend eternity in hell.

what on earth can I do?

1st. No one spends eternity in Hell. We are punished and then destroyed in the Lake of Fire. Eternal Hell is a Catholic tradition, a misunderstanding of God's Word, because they don't have the Holy Spirit to teach them the true interpretation; which is, there is no escape from the Lake of Fire. They do not burn for a while and then get to go to heaven, but are utterly destroyed. Making the punishment everlasting.
Matthew 10:28

2. Many Christians are also going to Hell, because they have believed and taught a False Gospel. - Galatians 1:6-9

3. The easiest, most effective and God given way to help someone receive the Holy Spirit & the Gift of Faith, is to share the Gospel of God's Love and pray with them. - 1 Corinthians 1:17-29

4. It can help to ask them if there are any beliefs they have that are obstacles to their faith in Messiah and answer their questions; followed by sharing the Gospel Message and praying with them again.

The Gospel Message:

The Sad Reality

Yahuwah God created Adam innocent
but Adam chose to know Sin,
which corrupted his heart,
giving him a criminal nature.

So God gave us His law
promising that He who keeps it
will be Loved as a Son
but we who break it
will be punished with Final Death.

But I came from Adam.
I inherited his corrupt heart
and criminal nature.
I’m not able to keep Yahuwah’s law;
even though I want to.

So His law convicts my Heart:
I am a Criminal,
deserving Punishment,
in need of Yahuwah’s Love
& Forgiveness.

The Awesome Truth

God is far greater than a just Judge.
He doesn’t want to Punish me,
He wants to Forgive me.
God Loves Me.

So Yahuwah God Almighty
became Human,
born of a Virgin,
in Bethlehem, Y’sarel,
taking the name
Yahushua:
Yahuwah’s Salvation.

He kept the Law on my behalf,
then took on Himself all my Crimes,
suffered my punishment for me
and raised Himself to life again
to prove Himself to me.
That He is God
HalleluYah!

Love Truth

Have broken Yahuwah’s laws?
Do you deserve the punishment?
Do you want His Forgiveness?
Do you believe He loves you?
Do you want to live life God’s way?
Do you want to be Healed?

All He’s asking you to do is:
Confess the Truth to God.

Let’s Pray

Holy Yahuwah….God Almighty
I have broken Your Laws
Please forgive me by Yahushua Suffering my Punishment for Me.
Please give me your Holy Spirit?
I want to live life Your way.
I need You to Heal me.
Please Adopt Me?
Thank You
God

In the name of Messiah Yahushua
I Pray :)

I hope this helps.

Hieronymus,

[It says the spouse of a believer is sanctified.
Why do you not believe that?]

see post 44

[Can you explain it, because i don want to give false hope.]
Sanctified does not always mean or equal...salvation
lev27;

And if he that sanctified the field will in any wise redeem it, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be assured to him.

num7;
And it came to pass on the day that Moses had fully set up the tabernacle, and had anointed it,
and sanctified it, and all the instruments thereof, both the altar and all the vessels thereof, and had anointed them, and sanctified them;
We're obviously talking about PEOPLE being sanctified under the New Covenant.
Okay, Paul says he is speaking and not God, but i think Paul had the right to speak this.
But that's debatable of course. (everything is debatable i guess..)
Your point is probably that the sanctification of the unbelieving spouse only lasts for the time in the flesh they are married to a believer.
You would have a point there, that could be the case.
[Not believing is impossible in heaven, obviously.]

Let me clarify for you;
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Yes, John 3:16 is clear enough too.
But do you think a person who says "it's not for me" and / or who is not convinced, belongs in that list, or would this be people who turn away from the truth (as opposed to not embracing it and / or thinking it is not for them)?
I'm not sure.
But that's not the point.
1 Corinthians 7:14 apparently says a non believing spouse is sanctified in the believing spouse.
I think your interpretation (which may be correct, i don't know) is that this only lasts as long as the marriage, which ends when one of the two deceases.

I apologize for debating, but i believe the love within a family has weight in God's eyes.
I don't believe in a legalistic stoic God with a robotic judicial system.
So the prayers in faith for someone dear who does not believe, and the sanctification of the unbelieving spouse (as discussed) seem to be enough i.m.h.o. to move God's judgement towards Grace.
And let's not forget that nobody knows what can happen during a person's final breath.
It would seem natural (to me) to call for God when you leave this realm and enter the unknown realm, even when you're Richard Dawkins.
So i'm trying to give a little hope and faith in God's good intentions.
But i think i've made my point now.

Sorry Ben, i mean well, i'll pray for you and your family.

My mother died at age 56. The Lord decided to heal her spiritually, but not physically. He called me to love and take care of her and read her scripture three times a day. Make sure you start with Genesis and ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in the reading of other scriptures. Be sensitive to how long to read based on her interest and energy.

Ben, I'm sorry to hear about your mom having cancer but it's good you are
there with your parents for such a time as this.
You faced many different circumstances... struggling with depression,
numerous personal set backs; doing that 10 week business course,
then preparing for the year long christian retreat that you was to be at in September and having to cancel because you find out that your mom has cancer
and it's advanced... she's not saved, your dad struggling to cope, you got a brother who's has issues with drugs, etc....
Ben, considering all that, I believe that you all need to be connected with a
support group for those who have a loved one that has cancer and facing end of life...I highly encourage you to get connected to one, it'd be good if your church offered something like that but whatever support and or care group they have, I hope you all link up with them also.

As you can see by the replies in this forum, here's not a good place for you to
be at this time...I apologize to you for the comments that be insensitive.

Ben, I know you got friends who there for you now but it wasn't that long ago when you was on here talking about not having friends...if your friends aren't the stick with you type, it'd be good if you be connected with a support group and or see a grief counselor etc.
I've worked in health care (an Hospice too) and I've seen how things be for
families whose loved one has cancer, not too many of them have friends that
walk with them long term...that's where support groups/grief counseling come
in at.

As for what you can do...keep praying and being a godly witness and a godly son, you show her the agape of the Lord.
Ben, abide in the Lord no matter what.
Honestly, it's what all of us be trying to do for our own loved ones, friends, co-workers, neighbors and even our enemies.

Dear Ben Collyer. I am with you and your Mother in prayer, it is sad to lose someone we love. Let us first pray that you mother starts loving Jesus our Saviour. Jesus died that we might live. I know you pray for your Mother as well, and Jesus our Saviour, lives for us now. We pray for your Mother and for you as well, Ben. God is Love, and God wants loving sons and daughters. Jesus died for us, and let us live for God and for our neighbour. The Bible tells us: Give up all selfish and unloving thoughts and wishes, let us start loving and caring, Jesus our Saviour will lead us back to our Heavenly Father. In Matthew 22: 35-40: we are told: The first and great Commandment is Love God and love our neighbour. God will always be first, and all we know and all we meet, (our neighbour) should be treated as we would love to be treated. Loving is very, very important, Love God and love each other. Satan and his followers will run away from all Love and compassion. Let us start loving God and love each other, God will bless us greatly, and we will be doing GOD`S WILL. Let us live as God wants us to, praying for your Mother, and LOVING GOD and our neighbour. I say this with love, Ben. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.
