I can't seem to find a single christian who follows the sabbath and I am not understanding why?

Jesus was Jew, he lived as a Jew, prayed as one in the Jewish synagogues, observed all Jewish holy days and traditions and he had said "obey my laws" which was referring to the 10 commandments. So guys, what possible reason does any christian have not to observe the sabbath please?
Hello Mike.

Once again, where do folk get the idea that Jesus was talking about the ten commandments?

Matthew 5:17
Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.

This verse does not say, to abolish the ten commandments, the verse says, ' to abolish the law or the prophets.'

Jesus is talking about the law and much more!

There's a difference between being hungry & walking through a field and plucking a few grains to eat, versus walking into a field with a basket and sickle to work and labor and harvest a crop.

That's like picking an apple off the tree on Sabbath, vs being out there with baskets and harvesting apples all day. Plucking a few grains or whatever it was that they plucked, is different from working and harvesting the field.
Hello Dkh.

Can we pick up a few sticks for a small fire on the Sabbath?

It is not as though we will be picking up sticks all day?

Not buying or selling, no, ... But gleaning grain and preparing it for consumption, I would suppose ...
It says they plucked some grain and rubbed it between their fingers and ate it - the scripture doesn't say that they took it home, made bread and ate it.

Plucking a few grains, or picking a fruit off a tree on the Sabbath, when you have a genuine need for food and nourishment, and there is no food available, is not breaking the Sabbath.

If you are going out to harvest with a sickle and basket on the Sabbath, especially in someone else's grain field, then that is breaking the Sabbath.

You aren't supposed to even harvest from your neighbor's grain field, but it's okay to pluck with your hands. The disciples, as far as we know, were in someone else's grainfield. We can safely assume that they would have been following the Torah to NOT be harvesting grains from their neighbor's grain field.

Deuteronomy 23:24-25
When you enter your neighbor’s vineyard, you may eat your fill of grapes, but you must not carry any away in a basket.
And when you enter your neighbor’s field of grain, you may pluck the heads of grain with your hand, but you must not harvest it with a sickle.

Please note guys that I am not here to condemn any christian. Yes, the above which you wrote is what I am trying to get a handle on, I am currently doing some reading on this get back to you, thanks.
Here is the reason I believe it has been removed from the new covenant. Christ is our rest and I believe that by faith we enter into that rest. It is said of the Jews that they did not enter His rest because of unbelief, Heb 3:18-19 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. And here is what Paul wrote about to the Colossians concerning keeping of the sabbaths and such, Colossians 2:11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. 18 Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God.20 Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations— 21 “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” 22 which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men? 23 These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.

I also will add this 14th chapter of Romans which says it really good and more specially, sorry for the length, Rom 14 Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things. 2 For one believes he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables. 3 Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God has received him. 4 Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.5 One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks. 7 For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. 10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written:“As I live, says the Lord,Every knee shall bow to Me,And every tongue shall confess to God.”12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. 13 Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.

And who was the Ten Commandments, which are part of the Mosaic Covenant, made with? Best I can tell, it was Israel as a national covenant. Even those who were foreigners living in Israel were not required to observe all the commandments except those dealing with how others are treated.

And being grafted into the root, as gentiles are regarding being in Messiah, does not mean that they are part of that national covenant. They have been grafted into the Abrahamic Covenant based on the faith of Abraham, which preceded the Mosaic Covenant. And even Shabbat... it is a memorial to the creation and a day of rest meant to be observed in the home. If one wanted to get down right technical, if one were to drive to a service on Shabbat, that would be in violation of the Law! One is not to kindle a fire on Shabbat. A internal combustion engine is igniting multiple fires. So if any one wants to be a stickler about Shabbat observance and attendance at service on Shabbat, they had better live within walking distance of the congregation meeting place. And even then, walking distance on Shabbat had its limits in the Law. It was in cubits, but essentially it is no more than 1000 yards. So if anyone violates these items, they are in violation of Shabbat. Neither of these falls within the prescription that preservation of life supersedes the commandments.

So while many who promote Shabbat observance want to pile on others for not doing so, they are violating the Shabbat in their own way. In trying to dig a pit for someone else, they inadvertently fall into the same pit they dug and have the same smorgasbord mentality as those they berate. "I'll have a little of this, but don't give me none of that". "Whatever makes me feel more righteous than my neighbor".

This is what I am finding relating to your answer found here:
Are the 10 Commandments Upheld in the New Testament?

Let's focus on what you asked here, and Scripture, and leave out church teaching? OK?

Christ consistently upheld the 10 Commandments as given in the Old Testament. In His Sermon on the Mount, He very pointedly stated: “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill” (Matthew 5:17).

Truth. However, there are aspects to understand what this truth means.
1) The Old Covenant Law of Moses, which contains the 10 commandments, was all they had. That's it.

2) To be perfect and fulfill the Messianic prophecies as the Spotless Lamb, Yeshua walked perfectly according to the Law of Moses as only HE could. To show that He was G-d's Messiah to the Jews.

3) He did not come to destroy what G-d had planned to show us what sin is, how heinous sin is, that only something or someone dying and shedding blood could atone for sin, that Yeshua was the ONLY perfect human to be the Messiah. All of Scripture cannot be destroyed, yet, not all of it applies currently.

4) Yeshua included the Prophets" in his wording, which proves this is not about the 10 commandments , only the Law of Moses, but more and He was not destroying anything, He completed them by fulfilling the Law of Moses requirements AND the Messianic prophecies.

5) To fulfill means to complete. Fill up. Finish.
Greek word pleroo
Definition
  1. to make full, to fill up, i.e. to fill to the full
    1. to cause to abound, to furnish or supply liberally
      1. I abound, I am liberally supplied
  2. to render full, i.e. to complete
    1. to fill to the top: so that nothing shall be wanting to full measure, fill to the brim
    2. to consummate: a number
      1. to make complete in every particular, to render perfect
      2. to carry through to the end, to accomplish, carry out, (some undertaking)
    3. to carry into effect, bring to realisation, realise
      1. of matters of duty: to perform, execute
      2. of sayings, promises, prophecies, to bring to pass, ratify, accomplish
      3. to fulfil, i.e. to cause God's will (as made known in the law) to be obeyed as it should be, and God's promises (given through the prophets) to receive fulfilment

6) Fulfill does NOT mean abolish is means to destroy. Please see my point #3 above as to why Yeshua did NOT come to destroy the Law and the Prophets, but He did complete them by fulfilling them all.

kataluó: to destroy, overthrow
Original Word: καταλύω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: kataluó
Phonetic Spelling: (kat-al-oo'-o)
Short Definition: I break up, overthrow, unharness, find a lodging
Definition: (lit: I loosen thoroughly), (a) trans: I break up, overthrow, destroy, both lit. and met., (b) I unyoke, unharness a carriage horse or pack animal; hence: I put up, lodge, find a lodging.
NAS Exhaustive Concordance
Word Origin
from kata and luó
Definition
to destroy, overthrow
NASB Translation
abolish (2), destroy (5), destroyed (1), find lodging (1), guest (1), overthrow (1), overthrown (1), tear down (1), torn down (4).

Although some mistakenly think that “fulfill” in this passage means to complete and therefore abolish, what Jesus said afterwards shows this could not be the case. Continuing, Jesus said: “For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven” (verses 18-19).

Please see my previous post for what fulfill and abolish mean.

Yeshua made this statement AFTER giving the Sermon on the Mount which contain HIS NEW commands. He was telling us that He was going to FULFILL the Old Covenant Law and replace those commands with His NEW Covenant ones. He said in His own words that He had come to "fulfill" the Old Covenant Law. And he said here "till all is fulfilled". He was speaking of His death and resurrection and the ushering in of the New Covenant.

The 10 Commandments given by God in the Old Testament continue to be God’s expectations of Christians today.

Not true. Born again Believers (children of G-d) adhere to Yeshua's NEW Covenant, not the Old Covenant Law of Moses that was replaced by Yeshua. 9 of those commandments were in the New Covenant, only the 4th (Sabbath) was not. And so it is not a requirement any longer, but the other 9 are.

10 VERY Important Questions, Plus 1

1. Should we worship other gods?
2. Should we make idols?
3. Should we take the Lord’s name in vain?
4. Should we dishonor our parents?
5. Should we kill?
6. Should we commit adultery?
7. Should we steal?
8. Should we bear false witness?
9. Should we covet?

I know your answer!

10. So then, should we remember and keep Sabbath?…

Do we keep it as the Lord Himself has written or how the churches would like to rewrite it or how we want and on the day we choose?!

“For whosoever shall keep the whole Law, and yet offend on one point, he is guilty of all” ~ James (James 2:10)

“Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.” ~ Jesus (Matthew 5:19)

Big problems with your answers to your own questions :)

Of course we obey the 9. Why? Because it is in the Old Covenant Law of Moses?
NO! Because Yeshua's NEW Covenant instructs us to.

Why do we not need to observe the Sabbath (but may if we choose)?
Because Yeshua's NEW Covenant did not instruct us to.

You see, born again Believers (children of G-d) are no longer required to adhere to the Old Covenant Law of Moses. According to Scripture, that was only awaiting for Yeshua to come, fulfill it and give us His NEW Covenant, which He did (Jeremiah 31:31-34, Luke 22:20). So, now IF we are truly His children, we obey HIS New Covenant, not the old.

Indeed, you are not wrong for worshiping on Sunday. No one can ever be wrong when worshiping The Lord and gathering together for fellowship in the name of YahuShua (Jesus). To worship The Lord any and all days is righteousness, but the seventh day is the day God has commanded us to remember and keep holy. So then on Saturday, do no work, but rest in The Lord, and pray and be merry. Then, when Sunday comes, worship and fellowship, if you so choose, for this is also pleasing to the Lord.
I hear some of you saying, ‘Yes, but we are no longer under the Law.’ You are partially right. We are under grace, freed from the Law’s punishment by YahuShua (Jesus)’ death and resurrection. Has the Law also passed away? As the apostle, Paul, says, ‘God forbid.’ Rather, only the laws found in ordinances were nailed to the cross of Messiah, as Paul has taught us.
The Law of the Ten Commandments is now established in us and fulfilled by YahuShua (Jesus), who is the only One who has never transgressed, who also said, “It is easier for Heaven and earth to pass away than one letter of the Law to fail” (Matthew 5:18); and again, saying,“Whoever breaks one of these least commandments, and shall teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom; but whoever teaches others to keep them, shall be called great in the Kingdom” (Matthew 5:19)… He, also being the same One who taught us the Law anew, and how to obey it. Why teach us of that which has passed away? So then, if YahuShua (Jesus) remembered the Sabbath and the apostles remembered the Sabbath, how is it then we have forgotten it?!
The church who changed the Sabbath was wrong, but the churches who worship on Sunday are not wrong. For even the apostles wrote that they did gather together on the first day of the week, which was the day after the day they rested and kept holy. (They were Jewish Followers of The Way. They honored and kept the Law and the Holy Days, but with a much greater understanding in the knowledge that Jesus is the fulfillment of all things and their one and only best example.) Rather, we, as individuals in Messiah, should keep the Sabbath as it is written. In obedience to God, in Messiah, is our love made perfect.

It Is Important To Keep The Weekly Sabbath Exactly As It Was Written

God set the example by He Himself resting on the seventh day of creation, whereby we should also rest on the seventh day, the day the Creator blessed. God gave us the Sabbath as a gift of rest for us to spend with Him, a sign between us and Him, refreshing our spirit, faith and body. Although it is to be accepted as a gift for all those who take joy in God’s Sabbaths, it is not optional, it is to be obeyed, a commandment of the Most High. Just as we are not to worship any other gods, nor make any graven image, nor misuse Gods name, nor dishonor our parents, nor kill, nor commit adultery, nor steal, nor bear false witness, nor covet, neither should we forget the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy. Nor should we keep it on any other day; the seventh day of each week we shall keep it without question! We must ask ourselves if God made it so important as to make it one of the Ten Commandments, why then do we rationalize it as not being as important as the other nine? Are not all Gods commands to be obeyed exactly as He has written them, or are we and the churches so arrogant that we have any say in the Commandments of God, that we might change them to suit ourselves?
Commemorating any other day would say that we do not honor His act of creation because we are changing the day of rest. God did not rest on the first day, then proceed to do His work for the following six, but He worked for six, and rested on the seventh. To not honor the seventh day acknowledges that we do not truly appreciate His gift of creation, nor do we accept His gift of the Sabbath, a day that we are supposed to share with Him, by honoring Him, speaking of Him, and worshipping Him.
If our minds are consumed by housework, yard work, our careers, shopping, sports activities, etc., then we have not given that day to Him, but only to ourselves. The fourth commandment states specifically how to honor the Sabbath…no work for anyone in your household, including servants and animals and no buying or selling. God states to ..keep it holy.. meaning no sinful behavior, always keeping Him first and foremost in our minds and hearts; also, to speak of Him constantly and to fill our houses with prayer and worship.
To not honor the Sabbath, the seventh day, is to not honor God. Breaking the fourth commandment is as serious offense as is breaking any of the other commandments.
In the United States, the seventh day on any calendar is Saturday. There is no room for disagreement. Either your calendar says Saturday is the seventh day, or it doesn..t. Sunday has not become the seventh day, nor has Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. In other areas of the world, they should also observe the Sabbath on the seventh day of each week.

You did not comment on the Colossians text which speaks on the sabbath keeping, plus the fact that it is never mentioned in the NT that Christians are to keep the Sabbath. In fact, also remember that James and the leaders when sending the people and the letter to the Gentiles in Acts 15:22-29
Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas who was also named Barsabas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren.23 They wrote this letter by them:The apostles, the elders, and the brethren,To the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: Greetings. 24 Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, “You must be circumcised and keep the law —to whom we gave no such commandment— 25 it seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, 26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who will also report the same things by word of mouth. 28 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things: 29 that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas who was also named Barsabas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren.

If it seemed with the Holy Spirit and all the church leaders not to mention any other things that the Gentiles needed to add, it should be good enough for anyone who is concerned about the matters, whatever they may be concerning keeping any of the law. The passage in Colossians 2 was really clear also. But scripture does say whatever is not of faith is sin, so if it bothers anyone, they should do as their faith lead's them, but then obey the text in Colossians that it only applies to them and others that may feel the same way.

New Testament Evidence:
YahuShua (Jesus) The Messiah Honored the Sabbath

YahuShua (Jesus) The Messiah and His disciples kept the Sabbath as commanded in the 4th commandment. YahuShua (Jesus) not only kept all of the commandments, but told us they will be kept forever, and that not even one of these commandments will pass away. As a person choosing to follow YahuShua (Jesus). His ways become our ways. The examples He gave us throughout His ministry on earth should also be kept today, without question. The New Testament gives us numerous examples of YahuShua (Jesus) honoring the Sabbath day:

Matthew 12:10-12 ~ It is Good to do Good on the Sabbath
(10) And behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked Him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath days? That they might accuse Him. (11) And He said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the Sabbath day, will he not lay hold of it, and lift it out? (12) How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the Sabbath days.

Matthew 24:20-21 ~ The Sabbath Should Be Kept Even in the Last Days
(20) But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day. (21) For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. (In this verse, Jesus is referring to the last days.)

New Testament Evidence:
Jesus Christ Honored the Sabbath

Mark 2:23-28 ~ Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath; The Fulfillment of Personal Needs is Allowed on the Sabbath (eating, sleeping, etc.)
(23) And it came to pass, that He went through the corn fields on the Sabbath day; and His disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn. (24) And the Pharisees said unto Him, Behold, why do they on the Sabbath day that which is not lawful? (25) And He said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungered, he, and they that were with him? (26) How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him? (27) And He said unto them, The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. (28) Therefore the Son of Man is Lord also of the Sabbath.

Luke 4:16 ~ Jesus Taught On The Sabbath
And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And, as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

Mark 3:1-5 ~ Jesus Helped Others on the Sabbath
(1) And He entered again into the synagogue, and there was a man there which has a withered hand. (2) And they watched Him, whether He would heal Him on the Sabbath day, that they might accuse Him. (3) And He saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth. (4) And He saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath days, or to do evil? To save life, or to kill? But they held their peace. (5) And when He had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, He saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out. And his hand was restored whole as the other.

Luke 23:55-56 ~ Jesus.. Disciples Rested and Kept the Sabbath, Even During Jesus’ Death, As He Also Kept the Sabbath Even in Death
(55) And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how His body was laid. (56) And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment.

Acts 13:14 ~ Christ’s Apostles Kept the Sabbath
But when they departed form Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and sat down.

James 2:10-11 ~ In Breaking One of the Commandments, We Transgress the Whole Law
(10) For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. (11) For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the Law.
Luke 16:17 ~ The Law, the Ten Commandments, Will Never Pass Away
And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the Law to fail.
[Note: Jesus is saying it is easier for the skies (heaven) and earth to fade or be destroyed than even one point or word of the Law of God to be changed or destroyed. They are written as it were, in ..everlasting stone… The Ten Commandments stand forever; only the laws found in ordinances have passed away, having been nailed to the cross with Jesus. – Colossians 2:14]

New Testament Evidence:
Jesus Christ Honored the Sabbath, Even in Death

There are only eight references in the Bible to the first day of the week, none of them referring to the Sabbath (five of them refer to the day when the tomb was found empty). Jesus rose from the dead Saturday evening, having rested on the Sabbath, the last day of the week.

The Biblical Chronology of Jesus Christ’s Crucifixion and Resurrection

Tuesday: YahuShua (Jesus) The Messiah, ate an evening Passover meal with His disciples (at the beginning of Nisan 14*, biblical reckoning) and instituted the New Covenant symbols (Matthew 26:26-28). YahuShua (Jesus) was then betrayed by Judas, arrested and during the night brought before the high priest.

Wednesday: YahuShua (Jesus) was crucified and died around 3 p.m. (Matthew 27:46-50). This was the preparation day for the annual, not weekly, Sabbath, which began at sunset (Mark 15:42; Luke 23:54; John 19:31). YahuShua (Jesus) body was placed in the tomb just before sunset (Matthew 27:57-60).

Thursday: This was the high-day Sabbath, the first day of Unleavened Bread (John 19:31; Leviticus 23:4-7). It is described as the day after the ..Day of Preparation.. (Matthew 27:62).

Friday: The high-day Sabbath now past, the women bought and prepared spices for anointing Jesus.. body before resting on the weekly Sabbath day, which began at Friday sunset (Mark 16:1; Luke 23:56).

Saturday: The women rested on the weekly Sabbath, according to the Fourth Commandment (Luke 23:56; Exodus 20:8-11).YahuShua (Jesus) rose near sunset, exactly three days and three nights after burial, fulfilling the sign of Jonah and authenticating the sign He gave of His messiah-ship.

Sunday: The women brought the prepared spices early in the morning while it was still dark (Luke 24:1; John 20:1), finding that YahuShua (Jesus) had already risen (Matthew 28:1-6; Mark 16:2-6; Luke 24:2-3; John 20:1). He did not rise on Sunday morning, but near sunset the day before.

* Nisan is the first month of the civil year and the seventh month (eighth, in leap year) of the ecclesiastical year on the Hebrew calendar. **Also note that a Biblical day was from sunset to sunset.

Yes He did and He also came to the Jew as He told the woman who said to Him, yes but the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall to the floor. Thought the gospel is for all people, nevertheless, you failed to say anything about James and the other leaders and the Holy Spirit what they said in Acts. But as I said, what you do is your business and according to your faith. And you also did not mention Colossians again. So I assumed from that, that some passages are overlooked that would tell others why the Sabbath is not keep in most Christian circles today. All scripture is profitable for doctrine and instruction. As I say on these occasions, every tub sits on its own bottom. Amen!

Exactly!

Also here:

Jeremiah in verses 31:31-34 are G-d's words telling us what is to come when Yeshua ushers in HIS New Covenant, UNLIKE the Covenant made with Israel at Sinai (Mosaic).

This prophecy is fulfilled in Luke 22:20.

The writer of Hebrews refers to both of these; the prophecy in Jeremiah and the fulfillment by Yeshua in Luke and reaffirms that Yeshua's NEW covenant, is unlike the Old (Mosaic Law / Covenant).

Hebrews 10:8-10
8 When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), 9 then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second. 10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

To refute the idea that the NEW Covenant is actually the same as the Covenant made with Moses in the Old Covenant, the New Covenant clearly shows that the Old one, which contained the Law of Moses including the 4th commandment (Sabbath) and was required, has been replaced by Yeshua's NEW Covenant, which makes adhering to the Sabbath laws, not required, but a choice.

Acts
The law is an unbearable yoke. (Acts 15:10)

Romans
The law reveals sin but cannot fix it. (Romans 3:20)

If the law worked then faith would be irrelevant. (Romans 4:14)

The law brings wrath upon those who follow it. (Romans 4:15)

The purpose of the law was to increase sin. (Romans 5:20)

Born again Believers in Yeshua are not under the law. (Romans 6:14)

Born again Believers in Yeshua have been delivered from the law. (Romans 7:1-6)

The law is good, perfect and holy but cannot help you be good, perfect or holy. (Romans 7:7-12)

The law which promises life only brings death through sin. (Romans 7:10)

The law makes you sinful beyond measure. (Romans 7:13)

The law is weak. (Romans 8:2-3)

1 Corinthians
The strength of sin is the law (1 Corinthians 15:56)

2 Corinthians
The law is a ministry of death. (2 Corinthians 3:7)

The law is a ministry of condemnation. (2 Corinthians 3:9)

The law has no glory at all in comparison with the New Covenant. (2 Corinthians 3:10)

The law is fading away. (2 Corinthians 3:11)

Born again Believers in Yeshua are dead to the law. (Galatians 2:19)

The law frustrates grace. (Galatians 2:21)

To go back to the law after embracing faith is “stupid”. (Galatians 3:1)

The law curses all who practice it and fail to do it perfectly. (Galatians 3:10)

The law has nothing to do with faith. (Galatians 3:11-12)

The law was a curse that Yeshua redeemed us from. (Galatians 3:13)

The law functioned in G-d’s purpose as a temporary covenant from Moses till John the Baptist announced Yeshua. (Galatians 3:16 & 19, also see… Matthew 11:12-13, Luke 16:16)

If the law worked G-d would have used it to save us. (Galatians 3:21)

The law was our prison. (Galatians 3:23)

The law makes you a slave like Hagar. (Galatians 4:24)

Ephesians
Yeshua has abolished the law which was a wall of hostility (Ephesians 2:15)

Philippians
Paul considered everything the law gained him as “skybalon” which is Greek for “poop”. (Philippians 3:4-8)

1 Timothy
The law is only good if used in the right context. (1 Timothy 1:8) (see next verse for the context)

It was made for the unrighteous but not for the righteous. (1 Timothy 1:9-10)

Hebrews
The law is weak, useless and makes nothing perfect. (Hebrews 7:18-19)

G-d has found fault with it and created a better covenant, enacted on better promises. (Hebrews 8:7-8)

This is not a verse telling me not to observe the Sabbath,
This is a verse about judging.
You have to look at other verses.

This is not a verse telling me not to observe the Sabbath,
This is a verse about judging.
You have to look at other verses.

It includes days, festivals and sabbaths. So, yes, that includes the Sabbath day, when examined in context, it applies.

So, no one is to judge a Believer in Yeshua regarding what day they go to church or any other observance to G-d.

No one said it is a verse to tell YOU not to observe the Sabbath on the 7th day. Goodness, we are not to judge anyone regarding days. You can observe the 7th day Sabbath, hoping that you are doing it unto G-d and not because you believe it is a Law). We have the FREEDOM in the New Covenant to observe the 7th day Sabbath as unto G-d and people have no right to criticize or judge. That goes the other way as well and Believers are not bound to adhere to the Laws of the 7th day Sabbath under the Old Covenant and no one is to judge or criticize.

The Jewish Observation of the Sabbath

The Jewish people have carefully kept the Saturday Sabbath for many millennia. Since the ancient Israelites defined sundown as the end of a day, the Sabbath runs from local sundown on Friday night until sundown on Saturday. With all of these references to the observance of the Saturday Sabbath found in the history of the Jewish people, the life of Christ, and the practices of disciples and other followers of Messiah, one would naturally assume that Christian churches would have continued with the Jewish Sabbath. So tightly linked is Saturday to the Sabbath that in over 100 languages (one source says 160) the name for Saturday is some variation of the word “Sabbath”.

The following is a partial list:
Afrikaans – Sabado
Arabic – Sabt
Armenian – Shabat
Catalan – Dissabte
Czech – Sobota
Esperanto – Sabato
German – Samstag, Sonnabend
Hebrew – Shabbat
Hungarian – Szombat
Italian – Sabato
Latin – Sabbata; Sabbatum
Polish – Sobota
Portugese – Sabado
Romanian – Simba tu
Swedish – Sabbat
Serbia – Subota
Slovak – Sobota
Spanish – Sabado
Yiddish – Schabes

The Calendar Has Remained Unchanged

The Jewish people have observed this date for many millennia without interruption. When the Julian calendar was replaced by the Gregorian calendar in 1582 CE, ten days were deleted in order to bring the calendar in synchronism with the seasons. But the sequence of the days remained the same. Thus, 1582-OCT-4 (a Thursday) was followed by 1582-OCT-15 (a Friday), and the Sabbath of 1582-OCT-16 happened exactly 7 days after the previous Sabbath of OCT-9.

I don't think anyone is denying that the Sabbath is Saturday, but no where in the NT does it ever say that part of the law is binding on Christians as I showed you in Acts and Colossians. The Acts text said the Holy Spirit was in agreement with the church leaders in addition to the fact that He inspired the writing of Acts. One has to read into the scripture in order to assume it is there, you yourself show the reason the Jews keep it before the church age and Jesus keep it in order to fulfill the law, He had to keep it or else He would have committed the sin of not obeying the law. Have a great day.
