BUT with that said, I use the Holy Spirit and the authority Jesus gave to us through His Blood to keep me safe, to remove evil spirit from an area or around me. "Rebuke the devil and he will flee from you." The ONE thing I have found that the devil and his minions CAN NOT stick around to hear is claiming the power of the Blood of Jesus Christ.... out loud, with that authority.

Living the best life before God that I can, and trusting in Him so I stay in His will as much as possible for me, that is safety.

I am speaking about the physical life, to the soul (mind, will, emotions) and for the spiritual that is sealed by the Spirit from whence I accepted Christ's atonement for me.

I think it's important to consider that everything the devil has, new age or whatever, he perverted from God's creation.... whether that is misuse of the good things or twisting words.
We are in agreement as to the last part (quoted).

Again, considering that the OP seems not to be a Christian, I consider this advice dangerous.
What are you talking about? did you even read OP's post? He says that when he burns sage, sprinkles holy water, and PRAYS IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, he feels better for a week. What about that sounds non-Christian to you?

And who are you to tell me that? The OP could be doing much worse things than burning sage, lol. They even said they've rid themselves on all inappropriate contentography, which is an admirable goal. Maybe you should put down the gavel and open your mind to traditions from around the world. If burning the sage to them is a thing of good intentions, who are you to tell them not to do it? There is no difference in burning sage and having a catholic rosary or crucifix SMH.
Edit: your reply is also very arrogant and rude, you have a very holier-than-thou approach, which is disgraceful.
I will never, ever, ever, open my mind to traditions. Jesus is my Savior, the Holy Spirit is my source.

In this thread, the OP says that he is "not affiliated with a religion." In his other thread (which I quoted earlier) he says that he's never read the Bible and never been to Church.

For a non-Christian, using the name of Jesus Christ has no benefit.

That doesn't mean other people won't, or haven't. And they probably won't give up their traditions as easily as you simply expect them to. That doesn't mean they're wrong for keeping those traditions, especially if they're moving FORWARD to the lord, like the OP seems to be. It's no different that telling people a crucifix is bad.

While sage isn't inherently evil, lol, I think it's just better to leave anything connected with other spiritual practices out of the question if you're interested in becoming a christian.

Relying on anything other than God for spiritual protection is wrong.

Given that the OP has never read the Bible and never been to church, it is disappointing that so few people on this thread are encouraging the OP to become a Christian.

The thing is ... the OP has identified themselves as Non Denom Christian, so we need to respect the house rules.

Hi there, I didn't know where to post this, but this seems like the right spot. ^-^

As someone who is not affiliated with a religion when it comes to spiritual protection I have used various methods that are related to new age / paganism. I would sage my house. I would use protection crystals. I would say various prayers. I would even make my own Holy Water. As I understand it; this could be considered witchcraft and is seen as a sin. We are supposed to rely on God for protection and call upon him in Jesus’ name. Not a plant or crystals. Any time I would bless my house I would do so in the name of Jesus Christ. I would normally cleanse my home especially my bedroom every Sunday. It was basically my version of church.

Is there something wrong with this practice?

In an effort to please God and show that I am repenting and turning away from sin I removed all things of temptation, which includes things like inappropriate contentography. I am making real changes in my life for no one else other than God. In an effort to 'make things right' I recently removed all of my protection crystals and stopped burning sage. The problem is the spirit or negative entity in this house goes on the attack when I do nothing. The longer I go without burning sage and clearing the energy the worse the negative activity becomes. I don't want to do anything that can be seen as sin in the eyes of the Lord, but I don't want to make myself vulnerable to attack from negative spirits. Whatever this thing is in my house it makes me physically sick. It stands at the foot of my bed. It shakes my bed. It messes around in both of my closets. It has been making me feel like I have something wrong with my heart the past few weeks. In fact, that's what the original owner of this house died from; heart problems / stroke. Everyone in this house is sick (rapid heart rates and high blood pressure). Every animal on this property both indoors and outdoors gets sick and dies. This has been going on for about 17 years now. These are exactly the kinds of things negative spirits are capable of causing.

All I know is that when I burn sage, use protection crystals, sprinkle Holy Water and say prayers in the name of Jesus Christ the air gets lighter and everything eases off for about a week.

Any advice or resources?
Holy water and even blessed salt are available at most Catholic churches. My church has a holy water dispenser close to the side door, and it's free. And a priest or deacon could come and bless your house too. What is far far far more effective is for you to go to confession. The evil one absolutely hates that, way more than blessed salt or holy water. You are vulnerable if you are not a regular practitioner of your faith. Saying a few prayers doesn't really cover that in any significant way. A deliberate act of faith, an act of love of God, and an act of hope in God would be the beginning. Then just steamroller on.

Try some Holy water. Has to have been blessed by a priest though.

The OP spoke of "spiritual protection". I would ask "protection from what?". In my humble opinion we need only to be protected from ourselves and that does not involve rituals or prayers.

I know that's true for me.

From a Christian perspective the use of talismans, amulets, or any of the sort is considered completely unacceptable. You will find Christians who make the sign of the cross, but the appropriate understanding of this isn't that the sign of the cross is some sort of talisman, it's an act of confessing our hope and trust in Jesus.

In what is perhaps the most famous Lutheran hymn (A Mighty Fortress is Our God) we sing this stanza:

"And though this world, with devils filled,
should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God has willed
his truth to triumph through us.
The prince of darkness grim,
we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure,
for lo! his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.
"

That last line is vitally important, "one little word shall fell him", the "little word" is Jesus Christ and His Gospel.

Because we confess that Christ having died for the sins of the world has, by His resurrection, overcome and defeated all worldly power--sin, death, hell, and the devil. Thus the devil is defeated, struck down, conquered.

The traditional Orthodox Icon of the Anastasis (Resurrection) depicts Christ in Hades, His feet standing upon the broken doors of Hades and crushed and bound beneath those doors are usually one or two figures, which represent death and the devil.

5955_3_0_0.JPG

The Christian has no need of charms, spells, talismans; not only because are these things inherently meaningless in and of themselves, but because the Christian confesses the victory of Jesus Christ over and against all principalities and powers.

The Christian looks to their baptism, for Lutherans the making of the sign of the cross is precisely that: a reminder of our baptism. Because we confess that in baptism we died with Christ and rose with Christ, were united with Christ, clothed with Christ. Christ is ours, and we are Christ's because of the grace of God, freely given us, which we receive in faith.

Making the sign of the cross doesn't mean anything in itself, after all we read in the Acts of the Apostles where several exorcists attempted to perform an exorcism citing "by the name of Jesus whom Paul preaches" to which the devil replied, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?". Because Jesus' name isn't a magical formula, and the cross isn't a talisman. What Paul had that the exorcists didn't have was faith in Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit alive in him through faith.

The devil is powerless against faith, by it he is crushed beneath our feet, and buried underneath the fallen doors of Hades which Christ has conquered.

The Holy Spirit protects Christians from being possessed by evil spirits..

The Holy Spirit never shares it's Temple with demons..

We are the Temples of the Holy Spirit..

If it is, that we are Christians..

I believe this is the best decision you have made to this point to accept Jesus as Lord and savior, to put your trust in God. There are many examples of Jesus and others rebuking demons and cleansing demons from people. There are also examples of disciples failing at rebuking demons so you are not alone if you are having trouble. Jesus himself chastised the disciples for not being able to rebuke a demon in Matthew 17:17. Please don't lose faith because as a (what would appear) new believer in Jesus you maybe having trouble dealing with a entity in your home. Just remember this is your home and you have the power of Jesus and can rebuke and drive out the spirit and tell it to never return. Although you HAVE the power of Jesus it would not be a bad idea to have believing friends whether from a church you start to got to or believing friends you have now to come over and pray and rebuke with you. Remember their are spirits that can be rebuked and some need prayer to get rid of. Mark 9:29 And He said to them, “This kind cannot come out by anything but prayer.” I believe that you are on the right track with dropping the crystals, sage and anything else you have been using to rid these spirits and looking toward the blood of Christ.

I also have had a life long struggle with inappropriate contentography that with Gods help has become non existent but for temptation at this time. Please keep up the good fight! 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

The problem is the spirit or negative entity in this house goes on the attack when I do nothing. The longer I go without burning sage and clearing the energy the worse the negative activity becomes.

I agree that the spirit could be using activity to keep you away from further growth. I have walked around my house rebuking demons in the name of Jesus not yelling but with a loud talking authoritative stern voice.

My advice is to find a church that believes in the trinity and as always when being taught always check in the bible to see if it is true to Gods word.

God Bless to all

You are right of course. But the first question is: is the OP a Christian?

I believe if you have read the whole post you would have noticed this in it. First step of the OP taken and accomplished.

I don't believe that going to church or reading the bible is a requirement for salvation. Confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that he was raised from the dead is. Romans 10:9 YES for growth at least reading the bible is necessary and going to church to be with people with like beliefs is of great value.
