Were you here for the "scandal " about Obama not wearing a flag pin?

Just a tiny bit of consistency would be nice.
Not nitpicking over dumb crap would be nice for ya'll, but that doesn't seem like it will happen.

It is one of the most basic tactics for insecurity and dishonesty: deflection.

If you can supplement it with "subtle" insults, and reinforce the idea that popular opinion agrees with you, deflection can be a powerful tool of psychological exploitation.

I especially like how those who deflect assume the person cannot recognize/understand what is being done. This is a delusion grown from the dishonesty, insecurity and faith in their deflection.

Typically, maieutics on well them so that they expose themselves. Sometimes, they beat you too it without realizing it.
Or maybe just pointing out your own hypocrisy when it comes to these matters. What's good for the goose isn't good for the gander apparently.

No doubt at all in my end. You guys can call Trump a hypocrite when it's you guys being the hypocrite and the liar.
Actually, no. We're not. We're not showing obvious double standards just days after arguing about the importance of respecting our national symbols.

But it is entertaining watching you guys scramble to cover for Trump's shortcomings. Over. And. Over. Again.

When did Obama ever raise such a stink over flag etiquette?
Which is the exact point. If Obama was telling people they were all unpatriotic for not putting their hands on their heart, then the criticism is valid. 45 is running around talking about revering the flag and then he goes to a military base and completely ignores something people must stop for and salute the flag. And then he goes around making jokes during the procession. I wouldn't care had he not spent his time whining about black people trying to make the country better. Yes, I did refer to black people because the president has a problem anytime people of color or women speak up.

THIS WASN'T THE NATIONAL ANTHEM! THIS WAS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SONG WITH COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STANDARDS. Again, what don't you get about that? You're trying to compare different things, but apply the same standards JUST to be mean and difficult. And that's why you're being dishonest.

The logic astounds me.

"Obama was evil and terrible for disrespecting the flag!"
*Trump blatantly disrespects the flag*
"But what about that time Obama disrespected the flag? That makes it OK for Trump to do, while remaining evil and terrible for Obama to do!"

Kneeling during the national anthem does nothing to make the country better.

I have nothing more to add to this conversation. You guys are trying to throw onto him rules made ONLY for enrolled and uniformed service members, of which Trump is not. This doesn't apply to him, where if it was the national anthem, then you might have a story. But this is just another blatant attempt to attack the president over something petty. If you disagree, then fine, but stop with the intellectual dishonesty. You guys look too desperate.

It's ok, I know.

I don't usually do this, but your are being transparent using so much deflection. If you wouldn't show how emotionally invested you are in this man, then people wouldn't seem so hostile toward him. He is a human; the only humans you are supposed to be so invested in is Christ, and then your parents, and then you.

There are people here who actually care about people in general - and genuinely recognize some upsetting issues with Trump. That doesn't mean they hate him; you should be so lucky. Some people - despite how their peers treat them - want desperately for others to come out of the ignorance and stand up!

STAND UP! WAKE UP!

Stop defending a man who would destroy everyone if it meant he made more money - who confuses the stock market with the debt. Stop believing that everyone who has something "bad" to say about Trump hates him. It is absolutely insulting to that person's intelligence, and it needs to stop.

If you choose to stay ignorant, that is your choice. However, you will have no leg to stand on if your country burns to the ground because your president upset the world. You can't say, "But, no one told me he was THIS bad..." You wont have any excuse.

What is going on right now is a foreshadowing of how even Christians will pool after the Beast. The beast system already enslaves most all of us, and Trump comes out of that same system - yet somehow he is different in a benign way? Are you sure you are using this training time correctly - to damn the very people that may actually be looking out for you and the people you love? You can't tell someone they are under a spell if they don't believe in magic.

Trump sits, talks through song lowering the flag at military base amid NFL anthem controversy

..... Military site Task and Purpose was the first to notice Trump sitting during the song. According to Task and Purpose, uniformed service members are required to stop what they're doing and salute the flag as its lowered during the song while civilians are required to place their hand over their heart.

Trump not only does not stand or place his hand over his heart, but instead talks through the song and assumes it's being played to honor him or Hannity.

People watching the rally can be seen standing for the song in the background of Trump's interview but Trump seems to not know what the song means.

"Are they playing that for you or for me?" Trump joked to Hannity.

"They're playing that in honor of his ratings. He's beating everybody."

Trump sits, talks through song lowering the flag at military base amid NFL anthem controversy
****************************************************************
QUESTION: Would VP Pence have been justified leaving the flag-lowering ceremony on the base had he witnessed the Commander-in-Chief not exercising proper respect?

Although this President received 5 deferrals to avoid military service during the Vietnam War, he did attend New York Military School which one would assume conducted the flag-lowering ceremony on a daily basis!

Your logic is incorrect here.

  1. Former Representative Tim Murphy, Republican of Pennsylvania, was an outspoken critic of a woman's right to choose, probably citing something about the "sanctity of life."
  2. Tim Murphy get his girlfriend pregnant and then suggests she get an abortion
  3. The people that make articles with titles like "Tim Murphy does not respect the sanctity of life" are pointing out Tim Murphy's hypocrisy. They are still pro-choice, they people are not "the hypocrite(s) and the liar(s)." That title still belongs to Murphy.

In this case, we have the president railing about respect for the flag and how people should stand during certain ceremonies... and then he doesn't stand. In face he did what all narcissists do and made it about himself, "Are they playing this for me?" Yeah it's a joke, but at no point did he move to stand respectfully and place his hand over his heart (other nonuniformed people did so).

Because you've noticed you can't keep defending someone who will just walk all over your efforts in a day or two with another offensive tweet or some other silly hypocritical gaffe you'll find yourself trying to defend?

I'd get tired of that too.

You keep saying someone who says these things about Trump is hateful of him - which is incredibly insulting.

Where is my hypocrisy or hate? Don't pool me with everyone else who you find antagonizing. I meant exactly what I said. That means if I did not say anything hypocritical, don't assume my position and point. Ask me just like I am asking you where my hypocrisy and hate is.

Then, we can discuss what is good for the respective fowl, and what is just foul.

When did Obama ever raise such a stink over flag etiquette?

Besides... Is Obama really the standard you want to have for patriotic displays?

I thought he was un-American to you guys. I thought y'all wanted a real American who respects the flag and isn't ashamed... Not some commie socialist Muslim Kenyan atheist globalist who hates America and our troops!
What are you talking about? He did neglect to put his hand over his heart years ago. I was never taught to put my hand over my heart during the National Anthem, and I can easily believe he didn't know either. Anyway, name-calling does not give you extra credit.

Yes the standard being that civilians stand and respect the flag. Trump, who as you have said was educated in a military academy and should be aware of this instead chose instead to carry on with a media interview.

Kneeling during the national anthem does nothing to make the country better.
Have you ever gone to a friend's home and seen this poster?

41PMUzm9OCL._SX355_.jpg

Just because you do not believe kneeling or raising your fist does nothing, does not mean it does nothing, it actually does quite a lot. They used their platform to speak on a subject, which has helped elevate discussion of that topic. It also helps to embolden those who are oppressed to speak up.

Many people recognize that Colin Kaepernick was risking his career by kneeling, but many supported him because they believe that police brutality and racial inequality need to be addressed. Many of them feel it is important to stand up for what they believe. And despite 45 trying to "win the week" by distracting white people into believing this about the national anthem alone, people are going to move forward in addressing police violence. The current president is just a bump in the road on the way to reinstating consent decrees around the country.

I guess that's only a Trump thing.

obamaflag.jpg
The whole time I was growing up in the very patriot New England we put our hands over our hearts for the pledge but not the anthem. Obama was raised the same by his grandfather who was a military veteran.
