A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.
She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.
She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family
and portions for her female servants.
She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.
She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.
In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.
When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

What is the biblical stance on this? I'm asking. I won't give me personal opinion because it doesn't matter what "I" think. What does God say about it?
If they want to eat, have clothes, and have a roof in today's society, the answer is YES. Lots of women in scripture worked.Define work.

Ever heard the expression 'Womens Work!' you know laundry, cleaning, food preparation, cooking, washing up, tiding the house/tent etc, bring up children, helping on the farm/in the buisness.

What ever gave you the idea that women did not work in the bible?

Do a search who was Lydia and what did she do?

Of course women and men should work, but are you really asking if women should work or are you asking if women should work for wages in some sort of employment where labor is traded for money? IMO there is not a biblical yes or no answer to that as there is no should there. They are not required by God to have such employment nor are the forbidden by him to do so. The same is true for men. We are all required to work but working for another or for a company or for a governmental institution by trading our labor for money does not have to be part of the requirement nor is it excluded from being a part of it .

I ask because when I read Genesis, these scriptures talk about man working the ground. My question in my mind is was it God's intent for women to labor or "toil" the ground?

Most of the time, when you see Adam or man....it is talking about Mankind......not a name of a man or a gender. In Christ there is neither male or female....we are all one......or should be, at least.

I don't think in the same way it was for the man. The woman was created to be a help for her husband. Her primary work was related to him, rather than the ground.

And her curse for sin was increased pain in bringing forth children (more women's work), not in what the ground would yield (man's work).

2 Thessalonians 3:10 indicates that people shouldn't eat if they don't work, and God created us so we need to eat. Therefore women should also work.

Galatians 3:28 and Colossians 3:11 don't make a distinction between male and female believers. Should Jews work? should Gentiles work? yes. all are one in Christ Jesus.

(edit) Suggested reading is also Proverbs 31.

(edit 2) Luke 10:42 indicates blatantly that Jesus would not tell Mary of Bethany to get back into the kitchen, but welcomed her as a disciple.
