Yes Proverbs it's all about wisdom. How I undestand it, not our wisdom even but wisdom given from LORD. And not trusting our understanding but trusting in Him. I think it's in Proverbs 3. Beautiful and that has spoken to me also calmed me down a lot.
Yes it is wisdom from above and not of this world. There is the kind of wisdom anyone can get in this world but there is a higher source available for those who seek the Lord. I'm not quoting any verse but the impression from them within Proverbs in general.. Proverbs 3 is indeed awesome and a calming read , yes I agree !

i LOVE this verse. It is true:)

"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: " ~Proverbs 17:22a
Brinny that is something my mother would have said !! But then she was often saying something from scripture even though she converted to Catholicism ( brought up Methodist, never shook it I guess).

God bless your mom, Dave. Is that a past-tense reference?

Yes, verses 27 and 28 are both powerful but these words stood out to me yesterday as well.

i LOVE Proverbs. It wasn't until i was studying the book of Job however that i realized how profound the book of Proverbs is.

It really IS true, that if one (seeks God) delves into God's Word with one of these, so to speak, that God will uncover "treasures", just like it is written in Jeremiah 33:3

I found treasures in Proverbs 9 last night, read it many times before but last night the Spirit was speaking..

The night before was Hebrews 8, I read it as a continuation from Sunday service ! The pastor had asked us to read more of it on our own, his message being on Hebrews 8.

It's a living Word, the bible, it really is.

I have SUCH a difficult time memorizing Bible verses....yet, this one has stuck to my memory like glue...and i think it's because it was such an eye-opener. It was like a light bulb was turned on...i mean i had seen this verse and read it many times, but it was like i was seeing it for the first time, all "lit up", and it was like God was folding out the "reality" of this verse right before me.

It's this verse:

"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." ~Jeremiah 33:3

The "calling unto me" is the delving into His Word, to "seek" Him and thus "calling out" to Him. And He "showed" me this verse in a whole new light, so to speak. It was like He was saying that He would fold out right before my eyes, heart, and mind WHAT this verse means, and "show" me a great and mighty thing....and that is, as if He planted a "seed" in my heart, and He Himself watered it and it "took root".

He was making His promise "real", that whenever we "call out to Him, seeking Him in His Word", He WILL "answer". And in that "answering", show us things right there in the verse that we had not "noticed" or "realized" before.

Amen brinny ! I quoted one of mine yesterday, it was this:
Proverbs 4:7King James Version (KJV)
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

The other was this, a pastor did a whole sermon based off this, pulling substance from all over the bible but these words changed my walk and I thank him for them:Psalm 46:10 10Be still, and know that I am God:

Amen about Proverbs 4:7!

Psalm 46:10 has been an ANCHOR for me, along with its "twin", so to speak:

If we can not be still/silent and receptive, we can't hear God.

I agree. It was soooooooooooo difficult for me to be "still" before God (sometimes it still is...i had a bad case of what i call "hurry sickness" and God had to "still" me).

He is teaching me to be still and especially to be "silent".

We're busy, it's a busy society and busy life today. He needs us to slow down and to listen for His still small voice !!

So if we put proverbs 17:27, Jeremiah 33:3,Proverbs 4:7 and Psalms 46:10 all together, do we come up with a theme for today ? I think we do,maybe not exactly in that order.

Amen, yes! True, this is really the wisdom we need! To be quiet and choose words wisely. However when we talk about Jesus and the gospel, we should speak boldly, as Paul says in Ephesians 6:19 : "And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,"

Word of God is beautiful, really every time I open the Bible I get some message to my soul that I needed at that moment or in that time! It's incredible. I was reading Proverbs 10 today and it's amazing. Proverbs 10:14 : "Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction."

Me and my fiancee were watching our preacher on youtube this week, and he is speaking about the word of God, and how it was before the word was written! Intresting Bible study, really! You guys might listen, open the Bible and go and be amazed :)
