I saw this picture that on a Facebook feed minutes ago. I was talking to my mother about this picture. I guess there will be many people who I'm sure would have many different reactions or interpretations of the photo. Personally, I find the pic heartbreaking. How could anyone think it is okay to have a toddler dress up as a Klan member? That is just horrible. Those are only my opinions. What is your interpretation of this pic and what should be done about the people who would dress up a toddler in an outfit like that? People like the Klan and the Neo Nazis are evil and just plain sickening. What should be done? It is poignant in a way, but I still find it horrid. Could someone else other than a parent do this to a child? Would you consider this almost to the point of abusive or am I so wrong? I don't know, this is not the first time I saw a pic of a baby wearing a Klan outfit.

Here is the pic I am referring to

America is full of wickedness... this nation was founded upon wickedness, and built upon the backs of slaves.

America is showing the fruit of what it has sewn over the past few hundred years. If we take a look at our wicked, bloody, RACIST and hateful history, we will see that America is only reaping what it has sewn.

Parents are given wide latitude in how they raise their children. People are free to hold racist beliefs or wacky religious beliefs, and they are free to raise their children that way. I don't like it, but the alternative seems to lead to criminalizing thought crimes.

Wasn't that because the children are sometimes used as human bombs, etc?

Some are chosen for suicide missions, but all are trained to be fighters. A big part of that training is indoctrinating the very young to see anyone not of their religion, or anyone with an opposing ideology, as a mortal enemy. Which, in principle, is no different from white supremacists (or bigots of any race or religion) training their children to see people of different races, religions, or ethnicities as malignant interlopers. You don't think that's a perverse thing to do to a child?

I do not agree with any racism, sexism, etc..
The KKK was wrong for treating the African Americans with hate and discrimination.
It came to light this year when I read my father's autobiography. The KKK played a big part in my grandmother's life.
She and my grandfather worked for a citrus plant in FlorIda. My grandmother was the victim of an alcoholic wife -beating husband. One day, after many days of being beaten, she went to work. She was covered in marks and hurt pretty bad. That evening about two in the morning, my father recalled, the family awoke to a large group of KKK members in the front yard. They dragged my grandfather out into the yard and beat him down with a severe warning of never witnessing a mark on my grandmother again.
Before the sun rose that next morning my grandfather was gone and never seen again.
This threw me for a loop. I didn't realize that the KKK wasn't some back woods anonymous group, it was the town's people that they lived with and saw in everyday life.
To me, it was hard to come to terms with how they could stand up for human rights in that particular situation, but in most every other historical recollection, they did the exact opposite to the African Americans.
This made me realize the times better.
White Amerca was so seperate in their idea of race superiority. I could understand better how other races viewed them.
They expected their own race to live accordingly while they ignored the inhumanity of their actions towards other races.
It was an example of how horrible the African Americans were treated for many generations, hundreds and hundreds of years..

When I see that first photo I see hope. This little child, despite its parent’s best efforts, knows no hatred. I’ll bet if that officer picked up the child he/she would probably smile and laugh.

Hatred is taught, not inherited.

If you identify as a Christian, I want you to know that calling people you don't like evil and sickening is a sin. Repent!
There's quite a few I'm very comfortable calling evil... They include rapists and pedophiles. Having said that the worst of us have some good in us and vice versa.

I disagree.

Surely there is a difference between holding a "controversial" opinion on the one hand, and indoctrinating others (be it children or anyone else) into a worldview of hate through hate speech?

I'll certainly grant you that as we zoom in on specifics, there are "blurry" lines there though.

Everyone sins but I don't think it's appropriate to call people evil because of it.

Are jihadists "evil"? Or would you call them such?
How about Adolf Hitler himself? Or Stalin?

Would you call these folks just "sinners" no better or worse then any other random humans...
Or would you rather call them evil monsters?

I'ld certainly call them evil monsters. And I have no issues at all with using the same label for white supremacists, racists, facists, KKK folks etc.

Probably. Nevertheless, hate speech is legal. If you can wave a sign that says 'God Hates X' you can teach the same to your kids. Probably if things got very extreme, parents could be stopped from conspiring with their children to commit crimes. But the teaching/indoctrination is not something I think we can criminalize.

Parents often dress they children up in white outfits....at Halloween they call them
ghosts....in church the white outfits are either christening or wedding gowns.

Here's a grown up version of what

an adult KKK member will do when he is
in need of protection.
