The laws of today are imposed with a "get out of jail free" card for most. Plea bargaining, good behavior, overcrowding or budget related release are such 'cards'. I'm sure there are others that mitigate or lessen sentences as well. In many high security prisons the inmates rule a violent social order. Drugs are brought in by crooked staffers. Gang activity within and without continues. Some justice system. What is needed is a short rope and a tall tree.

The police and military routinely "put people to death", and without the benefit of a trial. I'm sure the Las Vegas shooter would have been 'summarily executed' at the scene if he hadn't done it to himself. Many criminals meet the same "uncivilized" fate, and many others should.

What will happen is they will be charge them. They will get no treatment, no help in correcting their behavior. No extra education. And they will be a problem to society. Because it's cheaper to label them and throw them in Juvenile Hall.

I believe the attack was premeditated (it was just another iteration of "pick 'em out, knock 'em out), however the victims were chosen at random.

And yes, all of the 'benefits' would be applied if this occurred in OT times, and they would have been put to death, imo. The offense was tantamount to not only 'striking' one's parents but beating them. And there were plenty of witnesses.

But the victims were not their parents. The OC law about attacking parents is for when children attack their own parents, not just any other people that are parents.

For curious readers -- as Christians we are not under all the OC laws given specifically to Israel, but instead under the law as stated to us by Christ now, under the New Covenant. As Christ said, our law now is --
Love God with all of our hearts, minds, souls, and strength, and love our neighbors as ourselves
and the application of these here: "So in everything, do to others as you would have them do to you, for this sums up the law and the prophets".

We are under the now fulfilled and true spirit of the law, not Old Covenant details that applied before Christ came, except only when those fit perfectly to His statement of the law (above).

As Christians we are not authorized nor instructed to prosecute criminals, but instead that is a function of the secular state, and not ever of Christianity itself. That any have done so in the name of Christianity at times in history is only their individual errors and wrongs.

So, it's obvious this is a thread to speak about the criminal black menace out there because we need to focus on their skin color as that is the issue here. Their skin color makes them do these terrible things. I guess we should use the same line of thinking for people like Stephen Paddock. White people mowing down groups of people is a big problem, their skin color and culture are to blame.
