I recently came across Ian Clayton. He teaches to use the sword of the spirit to separate your spirit from your soul. He says he seperated his and freed his Spirit to surround his body. He says it's great and we should do it.
I think if God wanted it that way he would have made it that way.
When I have used separating soul and spirit it has only been in a delivence setting to remove the evil spirits from the wounded soul. NEVER did it cross my mind to break apart out own soul and spirit.
I'd love your thoughts. Thank you!

Sounds like false teaching to me. If one separates the soul and spirit they are dead.

Very interesting! I just watched a Bible study explaining how the Holy Spirit was with them. Then later how He was in them. Then the third step was among them. It was explained the difference in those three words. They explained you want Holy Spirit among you because that's when you are so filled it's pouring out and you are impacting other people.
I know my words here aren't relaying all that was in that teaching I saw very well.

This is just a quick couple of ideas about being lead primarily by our spirits.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." Pro 1:7
This fear of The Lord means we follow Yahweh and His Word to the point of rejecting what people think including ourselves sometimes.

Our behavior and emotions are determined by our thought life. So applying this Scripture: "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;" (II Cor 10:5). Is it possible to take every thought captive and compare it to Scripture? Yeah, or it wouldn't be listed for us to do but it's definitely a challenge. Certainly can't do this without The Holy Spirit's overwhelming help.

We build up our spirits in a number of ways including hearing His Word according to "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." John 6:63.

Also, love others as we do ourselves probably requires us to change the way we think. Generally, when there's a problem, we evaluate other folks' character compared to when we view ourselves, we consider the circumstances.

Thank you. Yes taking EVERY thought captive would be so much easier if we had been TRAINED to do so as children. Don't you agree? I didn't start until about a year ago and I'm 48. I tell everyone to do it now. When young people are in my life I feel they have a great advantage to make that a good habit and save themselves a lot of trouble.
I am finding a huge percentage of people having issues with self hate and condemnation. (We all know where that comes from!) I think treating others lovingly is easy for those that love themselves. What we do and how we act towards others says a lot on what's truly inside of us.

Yes, taking every thought captive would have much easier to learn as a teen. A lot of Scripture would have to be learned. Or at least some foundational ones?

Agree that loving others in Godly ways can be done after we learn to love ourselves appropriately. Also, know the more we're healed, we more we can minister effectively. Because if it's not taken care of (if it needs to be taken care of), it will rear its' head. (Gal 5:16-26 and I John 2:16). Though it's an ongoing process, if we allow it.

The more some criticize, even on these forums, the more you can see the areas that need to be healed. Sometimes there's no tolerance for another believer who has an opposing point of view. (May He help us all and He's faithful).

We definitely need to learn more about our spirits and Yahweh who is Spirit.

NEVER did it cross my mind to break apart out own soul and spirit.
There is only one thing (I call it soul) having various attributes such as: mind, emotions, will to live, will to act, reason.

There most certainly is!! It is a VERY COOL experience! Everyone in my discipleship training has been through it. Pastor Scott took me there and then connected me to that group because I wanted to know how to get others there. It's EASY. :)
I'm happy to teach anyone who is interested. :)

By faith I have tried to go into a heavenly courtroom on a couple of different occasions of great need. Both times I have had a very clear experience of connecting with God and feeling His peace and love and even hearing some words that specifically had to do with my situation, but I never really saw anything. I want to be active and involved in that realm for both myself and my family and friends and anyone who needs help defeating the enemy's agenda against them. You indicated you'd be happy to teach anyone who is interested. I'm interested. :)
