How can I have the mind of Christ?

Question: "How can I have the mind of Christ?"

Answer:
In 1 Corinthians 2:16, Paul quotes Isaiah 40:13 and then makes a statement concerning all believers: “We have the mind of Christ.” Having the mind of Christ means sharing the plan, purpose, and perspective of Christ, and it is something that all believers possess.

Having the mind of Christ means we understand God’s plan in the world—to bring glory to Himself, restore creation to its original splendor, and provide salvation for sinners. It means we identify with Christ’s purpose “to seek and to save what was lost” (Luke 19:10). It means we share Jesus’ perspective of humility and obedience (Philippians 2:5-8), compassion (Matthew 9:36), and prayerful dependence on God (Luke 5:16).

In the verses leading up to 1 Corinthians 2:16, we note some truths concerning the mind of Christ:

1) The mind of Christ stands in sharp contrast to the wisdom of man (verses 5-6).

2) The mind of Christ involves wisdom from God, once hidden but now revealed (verse 7).

3) The mind of Christ is given to believers through the Spirit of God (verses 10-12).

4) The mind of Christ cannot be understood by those without the Spirit (verse 14).

5) The mind of Christ gives believers discernment in spiritual matters (verse 15).

In order to have the mind of Christ, one must first have saving faith in Christ (John 1:12; 1 John 5:12). After salvation, the believer lives a life under God’s influence. The Holy Spirit indwells and enlightens the believer, infusing him with wisdom—the mind of Christ. The believer bears a responsibility to yield to the Spirit’s leading (Ephesians 4:30) and to allow the Spirit to transform and renew his mind (Romans 12:1-2).

A combination that has us speaking forth His word seems the logical answer ...

Proverbs 24:3-4
Through Wisdom is a house builded; and by Understanding it is established: [But] by Knowledge shall all the chambers be filled.

Transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2 by putting off our own stinking thinking in exchange for showing forth Christ's life instead.
2 Corinthians 2:14-16
But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads in every place the fragrance that comes from knowing him. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; to the one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?
Isaiah 11:1-2:
"And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots [this is Jesus, of course]: and the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, [that is] the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding, the Spirit of Counsel and Might, the Spirit of Knowledge and the Fear of the Lord."

Many think of the 7-fold spirit of God like a tree trunk and the eyes of God as the branches or like the Manorrah of the Holy Place Lamp. Rooted in and edified by His Word while prayerfully submitting to Understanding.

Matthew 4:4
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Jeremiah 15:16
Thy Words were found, and I did eat them.
Psalms 119:27
Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of Thy wondrous works.

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Joyce Meyer quotes this passage. Does she have the mind of Christ? Can I learn a great deal from her? She has been studying scripture since I was born and I look up to her but am told by a friend that she should be silent in church. Is this a huge misunderstanding from my friend? Should I continue buying her books?

The mind of Christ is not partial to any flesh.

Joyce Meyer has been a great inspiration and comfort to many people. I feel that she would be even more of a comfort to people if she shared her wealth a little (a lot!).

Yes, i.e., if we're led by the Holy Spirit. Sanctified saints are endowed with the Mind of Christ which supersedes and sanctifies natural intellect. In that case we're, as were the holy Prophets and Apostles, God's mouthpieces.

I personally like Joyce and had been watching her for over 25 years. Peace in Christ :)

In the Bible it mentions righteous judgment and then it mentions not to judge. How do we discern which is best? Is judging wrong unless it's righteous?

My take on that is that righteous judgment is that which is pronounced by the Lord (The Lord Jesus condemning the Pharisees, sin and so on). Natural judgment is what's pronounced by the carnal man who isn't perfected in holiness but uses his opinions as a yardstick. The spiritual man, led by the Holy Spirit, makes judgment about all things but isn't subject to judgment himself. But this was said by Paul who was totally sanctified and was led by the Mind of Christ.

Is our mind ours? His? Or a combo?

What does it mean to have the mind of God?

God has his own mind right? And we do not ultimately speak for him?

"Is our mind ours? His? Or a combo?

What does it mean to have the mind of God?"

You get the "mind of God" through the Spirit of God. But, no, that does not mean you literally get the full mind of God... it means you can search his mind for answers, and such.

You have your own mind...

God created the entire universe and earth... and has vast secrets. Further, God has done all of this with extraordinary security, blocking knowledge of very many things, with the very idea well understood from before the beginning that children would one day be able to search His mind.

Locks, doors. God can open whatever door - "door" - he wants, and 'none can shut it'. And 'close any door' He wants, and none can open it.

He has multitudes of vastly intelligent and powerful beings in touch with all these things, on the "spirit" realm. (Your thoughts are as spirits on the spirit realm in God's mind. )

(And speaking of, can you even believe what I just wrote? If you simply can not, that, right there, is a very good example of a lock. If you can, then, for whatever reason that door is open for you. But it can be just as easily shut. And opened. And shut. Or not.)

"God has his own mind right? And we do not ultimately speak for him?"

So, right, God has his own mind. Take a look at the heavens as human beings are starting to see it. Take a look at the world and her history, as best as you can, considering how inaccurate so much of history can be. Or seem to be. Who, for that matter, is the Leviathan? Who is the Behemoth? And so on.

As for speaking for God, it depends.

God can speak in such a way that people believe him. Or, not.

He can speak in such a manner so some believe him, while others do not. And so on, and so on.

Are you looking for some kind of power and authority in this way? If so, can you please be more explicit?

Just trying to understand how some people can judge righteously and on how the same people can condemn someone. Isnt God the one that can only condemn and ultimately judge

We are all connected to God. So, that is the important point. Does everyone believe now? I think there is significant evidence that is not the case.

Then, there are so many layers. Just like with the US DoJ, for instance, they are not just over the FBI, but also have many divisions. And there are all sorts of due process and rules and regulations at work.

While Heaven does ultimately rule and control all the nation's authorities, this is not yet perfect, as we can continue to observe.

Further, Heaven is far, far stranger then what we as yet have on earth, in these terms.

Even deeper and stranger, Heaven operates by both light and dark powers.

The later of which most would likely nod their head, but even on this, there is not this separation, but rather, it is as no light and no darkness at all. 'A day God knows with neither light nor dark'.

Far, far, far away... :) ... down here on planet earth, there is deep darkness and deep light, and many shades in-between.

But this is not the way God sees it.

So 'much of what seems right in "man's" eyes, is not right in God's eyes'.

And that definition does speak not simply of the Trinity alone, but also the many children of God. That is, those who were with their Father, before creation.
