The Lost Coin~
What is the value of an object lost? It's when that which is left is not to be content without it. That which is lost must be searched out to recover the full amount. The woman looks for the coin within her own house, carefully searching, just like the illuminating light of the Holy Spirit searches our heart if we but allow it. Recovering that part of our new nature which is lost but needs to be returned. That's the second application of this parable but it's one that is a life process.
We are the coin lost, the prodical son and the lost sheep. That's the first application of the value that God places on us. Feeling worthless in our own eyes is just a reflection of what we have made of ourselves and not of what God has created us to be or what He can make of us. That's invaluable!!!!
The application of the Holy Spirit to open the eyes and unblock the ears of the common sense things that Jesus taught that revealed the spiritual in everday events that would otherwise evade us. These things need searching out.
Daniel 5:14
"Now I have heard about you that a spirit of the gods is in you, and that illumination, insight and extraordinary wisdom have been found in you.
John 14:26
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
John 1:9
There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.
Hebrews 6:4
For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit,
Ephesians 1:18
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
John 16:13-16
"But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. "He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. "All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.
1 Corinthians 4:5
Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men's hearts; and then each man's praise will come to him from God.
