When it's usually Americans that use this excuse for a less informed voting public. It fits. I mean I could use the same tired logic about my country at the end of the day and say, we're not a democracy either, we have a Queen. But that's not the case. Laws are decided, governments are decided by the people. Just like the US.

The tax proposal I read today had plenty of tax cuts for the rich.

It would cut the top individual income tax rate from 39.6 percent to 35 percent and slash the corporate rate from 35 percent to 20 percent. The plan would also create a new, 25 percent rate for so-called pass-through businesses that are currently taxed at the individual rate.

He's a blue-collared dog Democrat to begin with. I'm sure he's tired of trying to work with a GOP that can't figure out which way is up, and is working with the Democrats because it is more natural for him.
For a democrat he appeal very much to part of the traditional Republican base. The KKK for example. They love Trump very much.

While closing tax loopholes would offset some of the lost revenue from lowering rates, the proposed tax plan could still balloon the federal deficit. Republican lawmakers reportedly plan to craft a budget that assumes up to $1.5 trillion in additional red ink over a decade. (Republicans Outline Biggest Tax Code Overhaul In A Generation. NPR)
Yet another bait and switch, unfunded tax cut from the GOP, that will balloon the deficit and offer minimal economic growth in return.

All moot -- GOP wealthcare will die in Congress just like GOP healthcare did.

Am I the only one who finds the incompetence of Trump and this Congress, the best thing about them, mildly disturbing? I was sweating bullets they would repeal Obamacare, pass a tax cut for the rich and then dismantle Dodd-Frank. Little does the American public know Dodd-Frank is the only reason banks and Wall Street investors are capitalized, spurring growth and creating jobs.

The best thing Trump can do right now is go on another vacation, get a few rounds of golf in, and play on his twitter account. I like your optimism TLK but they are definitely following the pattern they did with healthcare. I remain cautiously optimistic that they'll blow this historic opportunity to explode the deficit. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

No, "Republicans" have been doing this to themselves for a few years now, even prior to Trump. In fact the most decisive the party has been in the last 9 years or so was when they held up congress and basically slowed down Obama's agenda. And that speaks to pettiness and ineffectual policy and platform then anything else. Truer conservatives have been mariginalized or forced to take on a "hard-line" agenda when running for President (McCain,Romney) then they might have been comfortable with in reality.

These days the Republicans are finding out that their hard-line agenda is killing their party's effectiveness and might as well kill the party as well.

But we have seen this, Reagan guts social spending and implements a capitol gains tax cut. George W. Bush pushes through a big tax rebate when we had a surplus, then goes to war in Iraq, the lockbox comes off of Social Security and it's deficit spending on an epic scale. I have no problem with tax reform or even tax cuts, just think you should find a way to pay for it.

More like Donald is tired of barking orders at a GOP who hasn't conceded that his way is up, and thinks the Democrats will fall over themselves to win his favor.

Well, clearly I agree, but then I'm a democratic socialist. Republican policy since at least after FDR's terms as President is a rejection of the New Deal, and their attempt to "correct" it.

Which includes raiding the treasury, especially Social Security. Had we left that lock box on it when the budget was balanced there would have been plenty of money to extend benefits to Healthcare. Instead they spend it on everything under the sun including a costly war in Iraq. Starting in about 2001 they completely deregulated derivatives which, more then anything, led to the collapse of the Great Recession. So you get a Democrat in the White House and Obama works tirelessly to bring us back from the brink and Trump is riding in the wake of those reforms, hijacking as much credit as he can manage.

Included would be the repeal of estate tax which simply mean perpetuities. The only question is whether or not they can get it done.

Nope. This is one of the reasons I'm opposed to impeachment proceedings. I'd rather keep the inept Trump administration than to have a replacement that may actually get failed GOP policy into law.
