Americans should have the right to fire their president.

I am not suggesting otherwise, however presidency should be viewed as a job, and the people as their employers. If disapproval rate of the presidency reached say around 3/4 population, then I think it's reasonable ground for being fired wouldn't you say?

I don't think so. Given that the media is so biased and they influence public opinion, this whole scenario could be completely constructed. I'm quite sure if the media were predominantly right wing, the left would never make such a suggestion.

You can argue against democratic elections in general, with the rhetoric that you are currently using.

If he does something illegal or even incredibly unpopular, they can petition their representatives to impeach him.

Congress can impeachment for illegality, yes. But technically, not just for unpopularity. Section 4 of Article II:

The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

In the strict Constitutional sense, the President has to commit some kind of illegal act, or violate the law, in order to be removed from office. Bill Clinton's impeachment counts were perjury and obstruction of justice relating to his testimony under oath about his relationship with Monica Lewinski. In Andrew Johnson's case, Congress had passed a law preventing Cabinet members from being dismissed without Congressional approval. Which Pres. Johnson violated by firing Sec. of War Stanton. Congress wanted Johnson gone, and baited him by passing a law they knew he would violate. But the point is that some type of illegality--even a misdemeanor traffic violation-- is the only Constitutional basis for impeachment.

Everyone in D.C. is so corrupt and underhanded, I'm pretty sure the problem would be finding something that didn't implicate too many others if you wanted to impeach an individual.

Not when the polling isn't accurate. Even so, if we removed every president because their approval rating was low, literally every president would never serve a full term.

According to Gallup, Obama left office with the worst approval ratings of any modern president at 47.9%. Since a lot of people on the left consider Obama the second-coming of Christ, I guess this poll is the deciding factor, right? No other opinions matter?

And that is almost 10 points higher than President Trump is currently. Good Job Mr. Trump, you have beaten Obama!

The scoring system works like it does in golf, right? The less approval of the people, the better the president must be doing.

Every prez is going to have their moments of unpopularity. But the framers of the Constitution made that job (removing the prez from office) very onerous, which is why it has only been attempted twice in our history, (A. Johnson and W. Clinton) and both attempts were unsuccessful. There were 2 other times the process was started but failed. With J. Tyler, the impeachment vote did not pass, and the other became irrelevant due to the prez quitting before the vote.(R. Nixon).

Interestingly, the articles of impeachment against Nixon were actually written up by a Congressional aide named Hillary Rodham. (now Clinton)

Enough said.

Edit: when I mean by "fire their president" I mean forcibly resign from office instead of waiting until next election.

The public at large is too stupid to be trusted
with power like that. Half of this country would
be happy (for a short time) to trash the Constitution
and replace it with socialism or a dictatorship under
a popular leftist like Obama. By the time they learn
better, it would be too late. Congratulations to the
public school system for dumbing us down so far
in less than 100 years.

As much as i hate Trump, this would be a bad idea and horrible precedent to set.

The President can be thought of as a parent and the populace as their children. Sometimes, the parent has to do something that the kids hate for the good of everyone.... Sometimes the President will have to make a tough decision for the good of the nation that we spoiled brats can't appreciate because we have limited information and/or are too easily led astray by 30 second sound bytes and false commercials by PACs and/or influenced by Russia social media hacking...

Sorry, our electoral college elected him, thus he is president.
