Hi Everyone,
Its time for me to be scheduling my first confession. The Rica team is going to split the group up into 2 groups to do their confessions. Im sooo nervous and somewhat scared but more nervous than anything! I am totally clueless as to how to confess we did watch a mocked confession session but im still kinda lost as to what to do and what not to do. And how many sins are you supposed to confess?
Any Good Advice??
Thanks
Rose

You COULD just say it's your first confession and let the priest help you through it. Most priests would very kindly lead you through it. There is something called an 'Act of Contrition' which you can search for and find one meaningful to you. You can print it out and bring it with you. Or you can write your own, something Biblical maybe like Psalm 51.

In fact you should tell the priest this is your first confession. But the priest will already know that if he is hearing confessions for the RCIA group. A first confession could be a long thing, depending. Some basics I got from my pastor just last night. Confess the various items and be sorry for them and have an intention to reform. Be brief, not long-winded. Write out a list if that helps. Go through an examination of conscience. Consider fasting while doing the examination of conscience and before the confession.

As to how many sins to confess? All of them you remember, while being brief. Don't worry about those you don't remember. But don't hold back on anything because it is too big. God has enough mercy for you.
