In 2 Chronicles 35:20-27, it speaks of King Josiah's death. It is interesting to me because if you read the story of King Josiah, he became king at 8 years old. And at 16, he began searching for God to bless him and Judah. He did everything for God and led the people greatly. However, during the latter portion of his life, God made a promise to him that he would take him away from Judah when he sends other nations (AKA Egypt) to come and wreak havoc on the land.

This happened in the most interesting way. Josiah met Egypt for battle and Egypt warned him that God had sent them to wipe them out. They knew that Josiah was promised to not witness the punishment that God was setting on the people, so they warned him to back away. However, he pressed on by disguising himself as someone else, so they shot him with arrows and he died. What is the most interesting about this man is that he had such faith in God and cared about his people so much, that he was not willing to back off as his nation was about to be crushed. I assumed he had done a lot of thinking between the foretelling of his death and his actual death to where he wasn't going to allow anyone to hurt his nation for God.

The reason I write about this small story is because there is hardly anyone today that is willing to carry that big of a burden. Even though it technically wouldn't have been bad for him to back off as the other king had warned him to do so, and maybe it wasn't completely right for him to stay, he put so much faith in his prophets and God that he didn't trust his enemies. That is faith. Even though it led to his death, and even though his train of thought was wrong, he was brave for God, and he thought he was doing it for God. But God allowed for him to be taken away at the best opportune moment because he had done everything for God in his life. We must understand that God's promises will come true. Whether it is something good or something bad that is done before your death, God's promises will be fulfilled.
