Dogs are something else. Dog lovers love dogs... but even among them, if you push enough, most of them will say "I love dogs in general but there was this ONE DOG I had and..." and off they go with their stories.

I want to believe it's possible that we might be reunited somehow. The dog I have now is my ONE DOG and while she probably has a lot of years left, the thought of her not being around sooner or later saddens me.

I think I saw a post on this a while back, or even commented on it but I can't recall now. Anyway, we had to put down our dog recently who's been with us many years. It was one of the most difficult things I've ever done. My wife and I were both by her side as they administered the medication and she went peacefully and it was a rather quick process.

We were both tore up for most of the night and the following day but as each day passes it becomes a little easier to cope with.

My wife asked me if we'd see her again and I wasn't sure how to respond. She mentioned a "Rainbow Bridge" apparently where pets cross but I've never heard of that.

Is there anything in scripture that talks about animals, or pets in Heaven? I certainly hope so! If not, why does God place animals in our life that we love, only to pass away, never to be seen again? That is what I struggle with.

I'm sorry for your loss. What are my thoughts about Dogs going to heaven?

Perhaps, you might love to hear my story and personal experience on the matter: Before my dog died, I felt her spirit come to me. Her spirit went to me and came to rest within me.

That was one week before she died. I didn't even know she was dying, didn't know she was sick. I was thousands of miles away in the Middle East.

A week later, I saw my dog in a dream (I still have no idea that she is dying nor sick), she's in a place that looked quite lovely. Gently rolling hills, it was green all around, few trees, no buildings as far as the eyes can see. It looks about the best place you can imagine for a dog or for many people for that matter.... Then there's one house in this wide open space. It looked exactly like our house in the city. I went to the house and saw my dog there waiting for me, she looked so happy to see me and ran to greet me and licked my face.

The next day, my parents called to tell me that my dog (Tootsie) have passed away the day before, same day I saw her in that dream...

I believe she's somewhere nice now. Keep believing the rights things and if you do, you might as well see each other again one day :)

God created all His creatures before sin entered the world. I suspect it's because He loves every single one of them. It says in the Bible that God sees even one sparrow that falls, and that we are to be kind to creatures and care for them.

The affinity for instance that dogs have for who they are devoted to, is special. I suspect that God created that affinity. When one makes a friend of a dog, the dog will die for the one they are devoted to. Their love is unconditional. That's not an accident.

Many times God uses His creatures to minister to us, just as Elijah was ministered to by a raven, and the unlikely "ministering" of a whale that swallowed Jonah, perhaps saving Jonah's life.

Just as God's creatures were here before the fall and even before man was created, they will surely be present just as they were before sin entered the world.

God LOVES His creatures. Somehow there's a touch of that same love and delight in us, when we love our creatures and/or see a kitten playing or a puppy.

They delight us and minister to us.

There's a reason for that.

Sorry, dogs and cats won't be in heaven. Only guinea pigs.

I'm kidding of course. Yes, I believe that our pets will be in heaven. I know of no scripture that supports that, but I believe it to be true.

My condolences on your loss. When my last guinea pig died a friend expressed sympathy and told me that pets were "like family." My reply was "no, pets are family."

Theres no place found for heaven and earth (rev21)because God does away with everything that was a part of the past sinful world except believers (who have a spritual body) who wont remember fido and your days spent back on earth.... Id love to have my dog but to remember her is to rememeber sinful earth and I dont see that or a God scrubed version of that happening.... the child will play by the adders hole and not be harmed..... all animals will be like pets but pets to everyone... just like your wife wont be anything but another child of God, to rememeber your wife would be to rememeber sinful earth again....

Isaiah 11

6The wolf will live with the lamb,

the leopard will lie down with the goat,

the calf and the lion and the yearlinga together;

and a little child will lead them.

7The cow will feed with the bear,

their young will lie down together,

and the lion will eat straw like the ox.

8The infant will play near the cobra’s den,

and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.

9They will neither harm nor destroy

on all my holy mountain,

for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord

as the waters cover the sea.

Revelation 5:13
And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”

Isaiah 65:25
The wolf and the lamb shall graze together; the lion shall eat straw like the ox, and dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain,” says the Lord.

Luke 3:6
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’”

Revelation 22:15 Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.
This is talking about people
It appears there is both puppies and grown dogs mentioned in the NT.....

Strong's Concordance with Hebrew and Greek Lexicon

2952. kunarion koo-nar'-ee-on neuter of a presumed derivative of 2965; a puppy:--dog.
2965. kuon koo'-ohn a primary word; a dog ("hound") (literally or figuratively):--dog.

Matthew 15:27
And she said, 'Yes, sir, for even the little dogs do eat of the crumbs that are falling from their lords' table;'

Psalm 22:16
For dogs have surrounded me, assembly of ones doing evil have encompass me as a lion, hands of me and feet of me.

Philip 3:2
Beware of the dogs! beware of-the evil workers! beware of the circumcision! [Psalm 22:16/Isaiah 56:11/Revelation 22:15]

Well? My two malinois are waiting, so what's the popular conclusion of this most important matter. What should they know?

Here is Wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number... Revelation 13:18

There are 31,102 verses in the KJV

The 16,257th vs. Psalms 139:17 How precious also are Thy Thoughts unto me, O God! how Great is the Sum of them!

Verse number: 1+6+2+5+7 = 21

Chapter:Verse: 1+3+9+1+7 = 21

The Word 'Sum' occurs 21 times in 21 verses in the KJV

  • Genesis 1:1 in Hebrew = 2701

  • The factors of 2701 are 37*73

  • The Hebrew Word for Wisdom is
    00073H_Wisdom.gif
    "Chokmah" = 73 Standard value

  • And 37 ordinal ( the position of the letters in the alphabet)
37*73
  • Psalms 104:24 O YHWH, how manifold are Thy works! in Chokmah hast thou made them all: the earth is full of His Riches.

These are His Works, His Riches.....

(moved) I need help with Biblical scholars and theorists on this one...

The Christian does not look forward to an eternity in a place called "heaven", but in the new creation of the world to come, when God makes new the heavens and the earth and restores all things. The Scriptures do speak of animals when it speaks of the future world, the Prophet Isaiah speaks of the wolf and lamb laying together, and of the lion eating straw like an ox.

Whether or not the animals we knew and loved in this life will be restored is something not revealed to us by God. As someone who has a dog and loves my dog like they were my own flesh and blood family, the thought of one day losing her is a very sad thought, and I have nothing but compassion and empathy for those who have lost their own four-footed family members, and so I do, in fact, hope and pray that our pets will be alive again in the future world. But it would be wrong to speak definitively on something we cannot know--but to hope for this is certainly not wrong, and I believe there is enough given to us to hope--for He who is going to restore His creation which He loves very much reveals Himself as One who refuses to lose anything; that then nothing that is truly good and beautiful might be lost forever. That is my hope and prayer.

My brother, I know where you and your wife are. I had to put down my black lab about a year or so ago, and I balled like a child in front of the entire vets office. NOT an easy thing to go through.

About scripture reference, there is none. In fact, scripture itself begs the question (Ecclesiastes 3:21), making it apparent that the Lord does not answer the question directly in His word. But I have read in one heavenly vision of a little girl who went to Heaven being reunited with a little kitten that had died not long before she did.

I can give you the book title if you like. It's still on sale at Amazon. Very famous vision from the late 1800s.

Please! What is the name of the book?

Of all the animals the dog is singled out. No, that part of the scripture refers to a worthless or contemptible person.

Interesting, is it not, that the once-detested animal has now become one of the best-loved pets, although there are still plenty of cultures that perceive dogs as furry animals and not as furry little people.

People are ambivalent about dogs. Some of my best friends have been [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]es...!
