Do ghosts exist or are they a hoax

They are a hoax, in that the dead do not remain or return as spirits.
As the bible says, 'What ever is righ, noble, good etc etc etc think on these things.'
So don't watch thse shows.

in this verse Jesus is acknowledging the existance of ghosts.

I was actually once able to expose a "haunting".

When people ask you to prove God exists, refer them to the Ghost Hunters TV shows
and explain that full time experts don't seem to be able to cross the great divide.

Saul used the witch of Endor to speak to Samuel from the dead.

It is possible to speak to spirits.

If you are a Christian, then ghost MUST exists. If you are not, then it MUST NOT exist.
For your convenience, you may take ghost as a synonym of angel. There are A LOT of angels flying around everywhere in this world.

Since "Ghost Hunters" never catch a ghost how can you call them experts?

A lot of so-called supernatural experiences can be attributed to more mundane explanations, particularly various sleep-related phenomena.

I've actually seen "ghosts", but I know for a fact they weren't. Sleep phenomena are fun.

Ghosts are real. They are angels.

The one exception is the Holy Ghost, who is God.

but the people who believe in ghost would argue with you that our brain is better able to see such things in certain states of consciousness. so your metaphysical assumptions about reality and what you know about reality will lead you in the direction of what conclusions you come to.

funny enough scientist have not been able to find some things that they believe in either but they depend on their theories and mathematics. as for ghost, well I don't know if you can know if ghost are real via math. it seems our best bet would be to keep trying to figure out consciousness even if atheist will tend to come to their philosophical conclusions about reality in the evidences that they find. perhaps eventually enough evidence will come to change their world view.

could be some of the stuff that mainstream science talks about

Myths, misperceptions, hoaxes, hallucinations, nightmares, and stories for visitors & tourists. Many of the mechanisms for the misperceptions have already been elucidated, for example, Why Some People See Ghosts.

I have personally seen something that I suppose most people would call a ghost ut I don't for one moment think it was the disembodied "spirit" or whatever of a dead person come back to haunt us. What the explanation is - I dunno.
