of course the old covenant was valid till the new one was instituted at the cross.
Sure, but the Old Testament has a lot of things outside of the old covenant. God instituted marriage long before the old covenant existed. Marriage is independent of the old covenant and isn't affected by the old covenant not applying to us.

God defined sex as a marital act, so in a sense it is holy as marriage is holy. Just because people can abuse it doesn't change what it is supposed to be.

You're confusing the Old Testament and the old covenant. Also, that makes no sense, as shown by the example I gave with Jesus in the Gospel of Mark. Jesus was teaching about marriage and based it on God's institution of it in the Old Testament. If it was no longer valid, Jesus wouldn't be basing His teaching on it.

It is celibacy that is holy. Marriage is honorable for the weak who cannot take up the cross and follow Jesus.

Quoting redundant verses form the OT is like being in the shadow of spiritual realm
That might apply if we are trying to apply old covenant law to us today. But, as already pointed out, what I quoted is not from the old covenant. In the New Testament we read that the old covenant is done away with. Not once do we find a statement that the Old Testament is done away with.

It is not the letter of OT but the spirit of it

Where do we see anything about this supposed "spirit of the Old Testament" being done away with? And, again, don't confuse the Old Testament with the old covenant.

No, I am saying that the letter of the Law is surpassed by the spirit of the Law with the new covenant

We're not talking about "the Law". God's institution of marriage was given centuries before the Mosaic Law. Once again, it seems like you are unable to distinguish the old covenant from the Old Testament.

If the old covenant is valid, then there is no need for a new covenant. NT depicts marriage as a bond preferred for the weak.

Yeah, once again, you confuse the Old Testament and old covenant. Repeat this until it sinks in: "Old Testament" and "old covenant" are NOT interchangeable terms. Until you understand this simple, easy, basic fact, there's no point in continuing this discussion.

That doesn't alter my stand that marriage is not preferred for the spiritual strong persons who can take up the cross and follow Him according to the NT.

Holy in what sense of the term?
