Trump starts Birther movement. And Trump defends Nazis and KKK. Trump try to undo everything Obama does. Is said Trump is obsessed with Obama.

European diplomats: Trump is a 'laughing stock', 'obsessed with Obama'

Has become very obvious Trump attacked Obama because he was black. If anyone ever doubted.
Obama rubbed the voters the wrong way when he failed his promise to debate the HC bill on c-span. Democrats dropped the ball on HC, they should have included the GOP in debating the bill, and did it in the open instead of behind closed doors.

Well make up your mind! Is it literal or a figure of speech? It cant be both.

Does it give you jollies to be obtuse about this? The thread title came from a quote in the article. It was a figure of speech about a literal action of wasteful spending.

I understand your point and it's a perfectly valid one. However, Trump isn't any different from Obama etc in this respect, and, more importantly, this is not what we care about in politicians.

Politicians come and go, and they always break their campaign promises and never live up to our expectations. Politics is farce and theater, and to take it otherwise is naivette.

The only question is, did they do their job well or not? And this question is best asked after their term is done. But Trump doesn't have a chance in a million years.

If politics is a farce, why would we expect ANYBODY to do their job well?

Another thing......You say Donald Trump would have gotten a lot done if it wasn't the most obstructionist government in history? Do you just repeat what Donald Trump says or do you critically think about what you see happening in Washington in terms of what bills have been brought to the floor to be voted on and who authored the bills before you repeat a statement like that? Because from my understanding Donald J Trump has not authored one single piece of paper during his Presidency including his speeches, let alone has he authored any bill that has ever been brought to the floor or one of his famous Executive Orders that violate Civil Laws everywhere. It would seem the only law that he has supported that the Republicans who are in control could comeup with is an anti-law dismantling a healthcare system, leaving millions without healthcare. They couldn't even get all the Republicans to support it because it was so bad. Did they pass any tax cuts? Did he do his magical trade renegotiation with China that is going to make us rich and them poor? Has he gotten any funding approved for the wall? Has he jailed everybody who has investigated him? Has he denied access to press outlets that have written unflattering however true stories about him?

Can you explain how you can make a statement like that in light of all that information?

The best world leaders ever were those who were never elected. Elections tend to bring out the scum of the earth, but who have money and good acting skills.

True, Trump or Obamar or whoever are never going to do their job well. It's impossible for many reasons. All I was saying, how to judge politicians correctly.

It's not only the government working against Trump. Everybody at all levels is working against him. It's not about him. He's not capable in any case, and your description of his pathetic failure is a proof. No. It's about his ideas of striving for America. The people who possess the real power, want nothing of that.

Trump is going to become a sacrifice of unprecedented magnitude in US history. By that, America will be reshaped for good. Her strong and free spirit will be broken, never to return.

Obama isn't black, meaning, African American. He's half-African and half-Jewish, to be correct.

Trump criticized Obama for many things, like weak trade deals, ObamaCare or wars in the ME and Afghanistan. He never ever talked about his racial background. Trump is pro-America more than anything.

What color is his skin? Now, I know Trump is considered to be white even though he's orange, but you know very well what I mean here. What color skin does Obama have?

Now I know "Trump criticized Trump" is just a typo, but it's a funny one on account of how Trump criticizes everybody else but has a massive meltdown when he's criticized. He spent years on the racist birther crap with Obama.

Trump is pro-Trump, more than anything else. That's what he's proven over and over again. He's not pro-America.

All people except for a very few rare examples, are pro-themselves first. We're all big egoists...

Trump' s political ideas are to fight for the interests of the USA first and foremost.

Whether he's really doing it or even capable is a different story.

No, the military is filled with folks who are pro-America and are willing to sacrifice themselves for their country. Trump never served, and I doubt any of his children ever will either.

Trump's political ideas are to fight for what keeps his fan base happy.

What color is his skin?

Well, identity isn't such a simple question.
The other day I was watching a documentary about a French man living the life of a Native American in France.

As for Obama, there isn't much "black" in him, except for his "skin colour". (Some Africans might argue against that). His education, upbringing, political stance - nothing African American aboit it whatsoever. I was simply setting the record straight. This has nothing to do with the main idea of the post I was responding to or of the OP

Over-simplification.

I understand that Trump is a very unlikable person for you, but his political views are beside this point.

Maybe if he wasn't such a douchebag clown, people like you would take him more seriousely. But in that case, I don't think he would have been elected.

All politicians are like that. Nothing new here. It's like saying the sun is bright.

Much more importantly, is he doing anything positive for his country? About Trump, my opinion he's not.

Hi FOJ,

That just isn't a true statement, but each one does believe what they have convinced themselves is the truth. However, again you miss the point. While many politicians say things as they stump on the campaign trail, no one in recent history has been as adept and seemingly careless about it, than Donald Trump. But again, we each believe what we have convinced ourselves is the truth. Sadly, many of those who support President Trump have even bought into the lie that our news media is just wholly untrustworthy. That is, of course, unless a particular news source agrees with their version of reality.

God bless you,
In Christ, ted

He's the POTUS but you think his political view are besides the point? Yes, as a Christian conservative, Trump is a very unlikeable person to me, but I'd be totally willing to tolerate that if he was a good leader for the country. He isn't. He's got very high disapproval ratings in the US, and world leaders see him as a liability.

I think many folks would take him more seriously if he wasn't a "dbag clown" as you've correctly called him, but then some of his fans like him for that because it entertains them.

Misusing of "literally" is one of the most annoying habits some people have.

Then you might need to get over it since the Oxford Dictionary agrees that "misusing of literally" is quite legitimate in informal speech.

From the Oxford:
1In a literal manner or sense; exactly.
‘the driver took it literally when asked to go straight over the roundabout’

verbatim, word for word, line for line, letter for letter, to the letter
  1. 1.1informal Used for emphasis while not being literally true.
‘I was literally blown away by the response I got’
Words change their meaning (and spelling) over time and if a word is 'misused' often enough it will probably take on its 'misused' meaning. Another example is 'unique'. Dictionaries define meaning according to common usage not some special prescriptive rule book.

To really see what can happen over time look up 'man', 'woman', 'girl', 'boy' in your favourite etymological dictionary.

You may be surprised.

Trump is no saint, Obama, Bush, Clinton etc. aren't too much better, alas. Such is life. If you think Trump is somehow a worse kind, I think you are mistaken. No better no worse. Same substance.

I'm not a Trump supporter. I'm not even American.

My poor wording. Of course political views is #1 thing. I was saying, do not confuse personality issues and political views.

Trump is pro-America AND a very unlikable and incompetent guy. It's a tragedy for the USA. But the biggest thing is, there is a force billions times more powerful in America than Trump today in action that is not pro-USA.

There are politicians in the US who are pro-USA and are much more decent candidates for the highest post, but... they don't stand a chance to win even in primaries.

There are plenty of opportunities to critique wasteful spending...I don't know that this is one that should receive all that much time & focus.

$7100 is a drop in the bucket compared to other expenditures...

As other have noted, all presidents have indulged in the perks that come with the position.
