Things you believed as a child

What are some things that maybe another child, teen or adult told you when you were a child that you believed for a long time afterwards only to come to the sad realization (Or maybe happy, haha) that whatever it was was untrue? Please share.

Only silly things please, nothing related to not believing in God or something. This is only suppose to be a fun thread

It seems like for everyone there has been something that has been said when they were a child though that they believed for many years and it was false. lol

So go for it, share with us your stories. :satisfied:

I thought "kissing" made babies. I guess someone told me something of the sort.

I never fully believed it but I was told for a long time that storks picked up babies from the cabbage patch. I never fully believed it, but I honestly didn't want to find out the real reason lol

I believed stuffed animals were alive so you had to treat them nicely and take good care of them.

Santa, Easter bunny, tooth fairy, etc.

I believed if your elbows and toes were under the covers at night the bad guys couldnt get you.

haha I was the SAME way about my stuffed animals.

And that you had to play with all of them so one doesn't get jealous or mad.

I believed my parents are smartest ever and that most adults are so smart and they always do everything good .
Then i grow up :satisfied:

O yea , but when you have too many stuffed animals it was taking too long to make bed and put them back in order on bed . Because i was sleeping with all of them to not make them sad that they didn't make it to sleep with me in bed .

Sooo one of the things my Dad told me when I was a kid had to do with this place that was near a mall we would go to. It was a blinds shop where you buy...blinds. Lol But my Dad told me that is where people who are blind go to work.

I'm not even going to mention how very long I believed this. :sorry:

My friends and I thought that if you did the Indian Rain Dance it would actually make it rain lol. I think some of us even tried it in the school playground a few times. =P

Hmmm.. I guess the usual.. Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus.. Although I do remember when I was like 6 and waking up to my mother putting some money under my pillow I was like.. she's not real.. and thought it was a pretty sobering and rewarding experience. Like I was more aware of actual reality.. so it was a positive experience for me.

As for Santa not sure if I believed in him that much. Pretty sure a lot of that was phony.. lol.

I remember watching a science program about other worlds.. and I thought they were actually in location filming on other planets that had water and grass like the earth.. lol.

Even as a child I was a realist. I never believed in things like the Easter bunny, Santa Claus, or thinking babies come from storks or whatever. The closest I guess you could say I got to believing in the Tooth Fairy was having 'skepticism' about it. Only because I did wake up in the morning with money under my pillow and inevitably I became skeptical of the credibility of a tooth thief stealing away my tooth in the night. Lol. But it didn't last long. I remember I figured out pretty quickly that it was just my mom slipping money under my pillow after I would fall asleep. No disappointment, more like an "a-ha! I knew it" moment.

I don't know, it's weird I guess. I have a very deep and vivid imagination, so it's definitely strange to me that I didn't believe in the common phony things that kids typically believe in. I just wasn't gullible. I was a very rational, realistic thinking child (still am). Lol, look...I never even addressed my parents as 'mommy' and 'daddy'. Not once. Even that was too 'silly' to me.
