Peace to you.
The LORD took the man and put him in the garden to "dress"....that is, to WORK....and keep it. The garden was "planted"...or rather, (in Hebrew) fixed or established....eastward in Eden.
It is the law of God that was established from the very beginning eastward in "Eden" which means "delight, pleasure".
Genesis 2:7-8 KJV
(7) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
(8) And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
Again, to “dress” is to WORK it. We are to DO His commandments.
Genesis 2:15 KJV
(15) And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
"Eden" means "delight, pleasure". The man was to work and keep the law (the "garden") of the LORD. Happy is the man who delights (Eden) in the law of the LORD. The LORD also delights in those who do keep His commandments. He rejoices over them to do good.
Psalms 1:1-3 KJV
(1) Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
(2) But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
(3) And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
What is the whole duty of man that Adam was to keep? Fear God and KEEP His commandments.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 KJV
(13) Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Again, we DELIGHT (Eden= delight) greatly in His commandments.
Psalms 112:1 KJV
(1) Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
Psalms 119:47 KJV
(47) And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.
The man was put in the "garden" to work and KEEP it. We keep His commandments and delight in them.
Psalms 119:35 KJV
(35) Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight.
We KNOW Him if we keep His commandments. The "garden" is where we know God by the keeping of His commandments. We "walk" with God in the "garden" so to speak.
1 John 2:3-4 KJV
(3) And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
(4) He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
We have a commandment from the very beginning (in Genesis) that we love one another. We are to "walk" after His commandments. When we have love for one another, we show that we love God. We know Him in the "garden" where we work and keep His commandments.
2 John 1:4-6 KJV
(4) I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.
(5) And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
(6) And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
A "river" went out of Eden to water the garden.
Genesis 2:10 KJV
(10) And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
Through His Spirit (the "river") does God work within us to will and to do His good pleasure (Eden = delight, pleasure). He gives us the will to DO His commandments through the Spirit of God within.
Philippians 2:12-13 KJV
(12) Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
(13) For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD as the rivers of water which He turns according to His good will or pleasure (Eden).
Proverbs 21:1 KJV
(1) The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
When God sent forth man from the garden of Eden to till (work) the ground from where he was taken, He sent man to work the works of the flesh (the “ground”…that Adamah). To be carnally-minded is death.
Genesis 3:22-24 KJV
(22) And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
(23) Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
(24) So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
ALL men have been given over to disobedience in order for God to show us His mercy. To be spiritually-minded is life and peace but to be fleshly-minded is death. The fleshly-minded are serving the works of the flesh outside of the “garden of Eden”.
Romans 8:5-9 KJV
(5) For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
(6) For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
The fleshly-mind is NOT SUBJECT to the Law of God (the “garden”) and neither can it be for the man in the beginning was driven out of the garden in order to serve the fleshly mind (working the works of the flesh). The fleshly mind ONLY minds the things of the flesh and cannot enter into the “garden” …..being subject to the law of God….neither can it be for the fleshly mind does NOT delight in the keeping of His commandments. The fleshly mind does not delight in the Lord. The fleshly mind is hostility (enmity) against God.
(7) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
(8) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
(9) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Again, ALL men have been given over to disobedience in order for God to show us His mercy to us through the giving of His Spirit to us in Jesus Christ.
Romans 11:32-36 KJV
(32) For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
(33) O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
(34) For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
(35) Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
(36) For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
Even though He has given us of His Holy Spirit (the Spirit of God that dwells in us), if we continue to live after the flesh (serving the “ground”), we shall die. Our mortal flesh dies from off this earth just like the rest of the world that does not have the Spirit of God nor wants to keep His commandments.
Romans 8:9-14 KJV
(9) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
(10) And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
(11) But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
(12) Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
Again, even though we may have the Spirit of God, we shall die if we continue to live after the flesh. BUT if through the Spirit (that flashing sword that turns in every direction) do we “kill” off the deeds of the body, we shall live. We shall enter in to His rest if we rest from our own “works”.
(13) For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
(14) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
To enter in to the narrow path that leads to life (the tree of life), we MUST put to death the deeds of the body (the works of the flesh…envy, strife, hatred, wrath, covetousness, etc.). We must repent of our deeds and be “converted”…turn….and put to death the deeds of the fleshly mind with the flaming sword of the Spirit that turns every way.
MULTITUDES are going down the broad way to the destruction of their mortal flesh. They are given His Spirit but are not putting to death the deeds of the flesh as they are listening to false prophets.
Matthew 7:12-15 KJV
(12) Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
(13) Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
(14) Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
(15) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
MULTITUDES are still dying as NO FLESH is being saved in the churches of men where they are setting aside His commandment (to have love for one another) in order to keep the teachings and commandments of men. The denominations of men use them to judge others.
They are practicing THE lie…the same lie from the beginning. They see themselves as “gods” (JUDGES) supposedly in His name (authority) as they “kill” another with their false accusations and evil speaking…all based on their carnal commandments of men (ie. “neither shall you touch it”). They are continuously eating from the wrong “tree”…the tree of the knowledge of good and evil…as they act as judges and are not doing the Law of Christ (to have love for one another).
James 4:10-12 KJV
(10) Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
(11) Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
There is only ONE LAWGIVER (the woman in the garden added her own carnal commandment….neither shall you touch it…to God’s commandments). We must judge others with our own denomination’s teachings and commandments that are not saving the flesh of anyone who keeps them.
(12) There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
We MUST cease from our own works in order to enter into His rest.
Hebrews 4:9-13 KJV
(9) There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
(10) For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
(11) Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
We must DO His Word through the Spirit and not hearers only....and put to death the deeds of the body.
(12) For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
(13) Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
And a river went out of Eden…..as He gives us the will to DO His commandments with His Spirit.
Genesis 2:10-12 KJV
(10) And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
Rivers of living water shall flow out of our hearts….
(11) The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
(12) And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
