Recently I've been seeing a lot of posts and threads on homosexuality, including a recent prank thread just a few moments ago. And it's got me thinking about posting my own thread, in which I give testimony about my past, and my sexual perversion, and how it effected my view on same-sex attraction. I'm motivated to do this because, I am now helping two women here, who struggle or have struggled with same-sex attraction. (You've probably met at least one of them)

However I need to consider this first before I do it, I would like all of you to pray that I consider this carefully, and do it as honestly and respectfully as I can and that it has a good outcome.

If I do do it, it won't be until after the feast of the Assumption, I want to enjoy that feast. (See here: A lighter note)

I haven't been here long enough to know how seriously they take the rule on that, I've just seen a few posts that they don't like that topic or something. But as far as I'm concerned I'd be very curious to hear that because I've definitely been persuaded God still has a plan for gay people and some conversion stories from the homosexual community are the most powerful I've even seen.

They do tolerate it to a degree.

Yes, conversion stories from the gay community can be quite powerful, in fact an ex-gay apologist played a huge role in my reversion.

Then go for it!
I am considering it, it's just that, I have some anger issues, and I don't want the thing to get to argumentative. Also I have limited time here, and will be going on a trip in a few days. However I do believe that this thread, if done right, can be very fruitful.

Definitely pray over it, I can see how this would make you very vulnerable if there are... certain opinions expressed. I for one will support and defend you though :)

I don't see why they make such harsh rules on homosexuality on these forums. This is a key thing that Christians discuss, and as it can be offensive the way that some talk about it, that's just like any other controversial topic on these threads. Now I will admit that I haven't read the rules very closely so I don't know if they have a good reason for it, but it just seems like it's because of how controversial and offensive it can get.

The only rule is that there is no promotion of homosexuality. If you don't like the rules then go to staff. We are in a Catholic forum and the Church has its teachings concerning the matter as well. I know the OP has no intention of promoting it so he should have no problems giving his testimony.

You can if you want.
Will say though, I hope it doesn't end up promoting conversion therapy.
Gay folk can live happy productive lives.

Gay folk can also make decisions about their own lives which sometimes includes therapy to deal with their sexuality.

Chaste Catholics and fellow Christians can also choose to follow Christ and pick up their crosses daily. This is leading a happy and productive life.

All I'm saying is Conversion Therapy has a long history of being fruitless endeavours for the people pressured(or outright forced) into trying such means. Widely recognised as causing much distress and harm to mental health.

Sure, promote means to reduce the want for romantic and sexual partners; but I just think it important useless and dangerous therapies to change peoples sexual orientation aren't being promoted here.

Actually, this touches on a very touchy and controversial subject, that I won't get into here, because it may upset a lot of people on CF.

All I'm going to say is this, the Courage Apostolate, is the only group that helps people with un-wanted same-sex attractions, that is approved by the Catholic Church, and there is a reason why, only the Courage Apostolate is approved by the Church.

Homosexual acts and volitional homosexual thoughts, are sinful, and most be discouraged. Turning homosexual desires into natural sexual desires on the other-hand, is not necessary, and should not forced on people.
