The Earth was created in the dateless past in the beginning (Gen. 1:1). Then the inhabitants and their leader Lucifer were judged and the earth was flooded (Gen. 1:2; Jer. 4:23-26; 2 Pet. 3:5-7). When God restored the earth back to a habitable state the earth was only one piece of land, not many pieces (continents and islands).

Genesis 1:9-10
9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

On day three of the restoration, God divided the flood waters that were leftover from Lucifer's Flood "unto ONE place." When the waters were separated into one place the land they were moved from appeared. Thus, the earth was originally restored to be one solid piece of land. This is further seen in the following Scriptures.

Genesis 10:25
25 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.

1 Chronicles 1:19
19 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg; because in his days the earth was divided: and his brother's name was Joktan.

God divided the earth into continents and islands in the days of Peleg. Eber's son's name "Peleg" means division. This dividing of the earth happened after God had taken the people of the earth and "scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth" (Gen. 11:8). This would explain how people had came to be on the various islands and continents that are thousands of miles from the middle east and Babel before the many great sea explorations many years after them. Such as the native American Indian.

This also shows that the Bible taught that the earth was one piece of land that became divided 4,000 years before scientists finally realized this. There is no way that Moses, the author of the book of Genesis, could have known that the earth was at one time one solid piece of land (Gen. 1:9-10) and that it was divided (Gen. 10:25) except that it was divinely revealed to him as we see in the Scriptures previously referenced.

A question to the Bible skeptic: How did Moses know that the earth was originally one piece of land and that it was later divided if what he recorded about God creating everything and later dividing the earth is not correct?

Think about it!

In the very beginning:

Pr.8:22 “The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works,

before his deeds of old;

23I was formed long ages ago,

at the very beginning, when the world came to be.

24When there were no watery depths, I was given birth,

when there were no springs overflowing with water;

25before the mountains were settled in place,

before the hills, I was given birth,

26before he made the world or its fields

or any of the dust of the earth.

27I was there when he set the heavens in place,

when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,

28when he established the clouds above

and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,

29when he gave the sea its boundary

so the waters would not overstep his command,

and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.

30Then I was constantlye at his side.

I was filled with delight day after day,

rejoicing always in his presence,

31rejoicing in his whole world

and delighting in mankind.

32“Now then, my children, listen to me;

blessed are those who keep my ways.

33Listen to my instruction and be wise;

do not disregard it.

34Blessed are those who listen to me,

watching daily at my doors,

waiting at my doorway.

35For those who find me find life

and receive favor from the Lord.

36But those who fail to find me harm themselves;

all who hate me love death.”

I've heard that before, and I don't necessarily disagree, but you're basing an awful lot of theology on too few words. It doesn't explain the meaning very clearly, and one might expect that something so monumental would get a better description. The same counter argument holds true for the Satan's Flood theory, except that that idea is based on no scripture at all.

Thanks for your input. Tell me just what is not clear to you, the OP or post #2? The latter is all Scripture.

The latter is all scripture but does nothing to support your thesis. The former depends on two verses, both of which repeat the same eight-word idea, "for in his days was the earth divided."

Incidentally, your thread reminded me of this article:
An Amazing Anomalous Fossil | The Institute for Creation Research
A hand bell was found firmly embedded in a chunk of coal dug out of a West Virginia coal mine. The figurine on the handle closely resembles artifacts from ancient Babel. It begs the question as to how people from Babel ever got to West Virginia.

Like I say, I don't necessarily disagree with your conclusion, but the scripture evidence for it is extremely limited. Having already known of the continental drift, it's easy to see a shadow of it in some scant selections of the oldest passages, but one would never have come anywhere near that conclusion based on the scripture, alone.

Which post are you critiquing? # 1. or # 2.? The latter was written by Solomon, as he was inspired by the Holy Spirit. Are you suggesting you don't believe part of the Bible?

As to the original earth being a single land mass, That has been proven to be accurate for many years. I'll try and get back to you on that later on.

Yeah, no kidding. It was written by Solomon, inspired by the Holy spirit and is absolutely correct. It also says nothing about continental drift, and it doesn't support your argument in the slightest. I can't imagine why you quoted it.

Who are you talking to? Me? I never said it wasn't. Why are you arguing against things I never said? This is insane. You could have a two-way conversation with a doorpost, talking like that.

The same counter argument holds true for the Satan's Flood theory, except that that idea is based on no scripture at all.
Do you mean a total flood which happened before Noah's flood ie before there was humans on the Earth.?

If so, Genesis 1:2 is the Biblical text about the event...when the correct Hebrew wording is used.

The correct Hebrew wording is: and the Earth BECAME tohu bohu [became a waste and a ruin flooded with water]....rather than "WAS" waste and void.

God in Genesis 1:1 have not created the Earth waste and void....The Earth BECAME that way in Genesis 1:2 because God destroyed the World that then was .

Between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 EONS of time have passed...
