"And I saw and, behold a white horse; and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him, and he went forth conquering, and to conquer."
Holy War, AKA JIHAD, authenticated by bin Laden on Sept. 11, 2001. Either he or Muhammad is the rider. Probably Muhammad.

The bow.
Typically an article of war but most people have no answer why this rider has no arrows. It's a bit unusual for a warrior to carry a bow without arrows. The word is used figuratively of the decendents of Ishmael, and associated with falsity and evil.

The bow is also used of God's judgment and figurative of a counterfeit truth. A bow can signify a doctrine of truth, or a doctrine of falsity.

The bow also denotes falsehood and deceit. (Ps. 64:3, 4; Hos. 7:16; Jer. 9:3).

Jeremiah 9:3 And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.

Hosea 7:16 They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.

I associate the four horsemen with Islam and the Arab's because of the bow. In the bible, the bow is symbolic of "evil conquest and designs," and a "struggle "against much travail in order to obtain a goal."

Bow from Strong's...
5115. toxon tox'-on from the base of 5088; a bow (apparently as the simplest fabric):--bow.
At first it says a 'bow.' Then it mentions a simple fabric.

I have seen some Greek lexicon's or root word translate bow as "bough". (Turbans?)
The word bow is from the base word Tikto #5088,
notice...
1) to bring forth, bear, produce (fruit from the seed)
a) of a woman giving birth
of the earth bringing forth its fruits
c) metaph. to bear, bring forth

The bow indicates the offspring of people that are out 'conquering and to conquer.'

There are only a few people in the bible to whom a bow is personally attributed. They are Esau and Ishmael. (Joseph and Elisha) Ishmael and Esau are the fathers of the Arabs. Islam is the religious offspring of Ishmael since Muhammad is his descendent and whose followers are currently engaged in a global holy war.

The little harlot's of Islam, the jihadist, are followers of one of the most primitive religions in the world AND will use some of the most sophisticated and horrific weapons in the world to commit the greatest abominations mankind has ever seen. They will bring the US and Europe to economic collapse and the entire world to tribulation. Nuclear, biological, and chemical attacks are coming....and some! America and Europe will soon become very familiar with Islamic jihad.

Conquering and to conquer...

I'm convinced that the quote "conquering and to conquer" reflects Islam's conquest of the infidel and conquest/domination of the world through demographics and terrorism i.e. THE "STRUGGLE" OF HOLY WAR." DOMINATION BY ABOMINATION

" And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword."

Iraq and Saddam Hussein...
This rider is given two things. Power to take peace away from the earth, and a large sword. The sword is the most significant identification mark of the rider. The word sword is more common a biblical term than the bow. The words "sword and swords" are used 444 times in the bible and has extensive literal and symbolic use in the bible and Koran. This could be symbolic of the 'sword of Allah' or the Islamic symbol itself of two crossed swords. AND it could identify the rider.

Some Greek translations of the word 'sword' in this passage indicate a literal and extremely large sword, creating some confusion among scholars as of it's interpretation.

There's a very compelling symbol of two swords crossed over the entrance of the festivities or celebrations park located west of Baghdad that Saddam erected celebrating his alleged victory over Iran in the mid eighties. What's interesting is that there are two hands of steel holding the swords that were casted on the basis of a mold taken of Saddam's own hands at his command. You know the symbol, you use to see it quite often on the news.

A pair of two arched swords in Central Baghdad consists of a pair of hands that are cast from a mold from Saddam's own hands. The two arches mark the two entrances to the Celebrations Park that Saddam built In recognition of his greatness and to commemorate his alleged victory over Iran.

7355617.jpg

Saddam Hussein also received a gold sword from Mohammad Amr Bin Yusuf and Abdul Rahman Ahmed from the United Arab Emirates. You may have also seen film footage of Saddam removing it, a large six foot gold sword, from its sheath.

Who knows how many statues there are left of Saddam on horseback with him holding a sword. There is or was one near the Procession Park west of Baghdad that was built in the nineties. On the main road from Jordan going into Iraq, there again WAS Saddam on horseback wielding a sword. There are images of Saddam throughout Iraq. He was obsessed with himself and Nebuchadnezzar.

The color red is "fiery red" or a "horse of fire." The word is "pyrros." It is the same word used in Revelation 12:3 of the red dragon. Thayer's and Vines say's it indicates the cruelty of the devil. Rev. 6:4 and 12:3 are the only two places in the bible where this word 'pyrros' is used. This word for red and it's connection to the dragon is just one way I connect the rider, Saddam Hussein, to the possible anti-christ.

The Fourth Seal The pale horse, and it's rider.

Revelation 6:7-8 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Pale is better translated pale green and implies being "sickly."

Muslims embrace death. Islam can easily be labeled as a demonic and a "sick" religion, especially when they will use some of the most horrific means to obtain their goals.

The name death means physical death for those who are subject to his evil influence and persecution. And physical and spiritual death for those who follow the rider. I think it indicates one quarter of the earth as in the Middle-East region, or 1/4 of the earths entire population. Islamic terrorism is a global problem.

Muslim's may spread disease worldwide and even sacrifice their children in holy war. After all they murder their own family members in honor killings. Muslim's are the only ones I know of both willing and capable of commit these crimes. By these abominations, Muslims will follow one another to hell. .
These are some of the conditions brought upon by the horrific means of Islamic jihad or the "holy war" depicted in the first seal.

The words "to kill with sword, hunger, death and beast," are literal. Islam is the only religion capable of bringing this to pass. ISIL has been known to behead children in front of their parents who wouldn't convert.

To kill with hunger...

Starving people to death by withholding food is a old weapon. Today it's used by Muslims in several countries especially in Northern Africa. In the future, it wouldn't surprise me to see ISIL starve people to death who refuse to convert.

To kill with sword,

The sword is Islam's favorite weapon and beheading is their prefered method of persecution in the book of Revelation. Muslim's cut the heads off of their own family in honor killings, why should we be surprised that ISIS is doing it today? Even today there are stadiums full of people watching an honor killing in the Islamic world.

To kill with beast...

They will throw people to the lions and dogs and put it on video like they are custom to do. A video of wild animals in an amphitheater type setting will happen once again in our day and Islam's way of "Conquering the infidel." It will become a televised Islamic form of 21st century entertainment. ISIS is already doing it's recruiting and be-heading videos. Maybe they'll just tie up someone in the middle of the wilderness and let the wild animals go at them.

To kill with death...

This is suicide bombings or biological terrorism. Muslim's will sacrifice their own Children in holy war. ISIL has already blown up the baby of a woman who wouldn't convert ia a training video. In the devils religion of Islam, the father is often the one who throws the first stone in the honor killing of his own daughter.

Suicide bombers, they're found here too...
Revelation 9:16-17 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them. And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.

I don't know who the rider is.

It symbolizes a weapon, a long range ballistic weapon. If God meant someone specific, certainly with regards to the bow there would be a direct connection in the text. The term for 'bow' is used one time in Scripture and the etymology of the root seems utterly irrelevant.

There are only a few people in the bible to whom a bow is personally attributed. They are Esau and Ishmael. (Joseph and Elisha) Ishmael and Esau are the fathers of the Arabs. The west has the largest arsenal of nuclear and chemical weapons on the planet. It seems very unlikely that the Middle East could come up with something to neutralize it. As a matter of fact, I think Islam will try to fight this guy and lose like everyone else who challenges him.

Don't take my response to your exposition as a rebuke, I just think it's a faulty exposition. Still, I think there is a strong argument that could be made that the Arab Islamic align themselves with the Antichrist, they aligned themselves with the Germans twice. He appear to spend a lot of time in the Middle East and Europe, Asia doesn't get involved till very near the end.

You could make the argument the Antichrist comes originally from the Middle East. The little horn uproots three large horns, perhaps in the opening events represented by the seals. Notice the kings of the east, if there is an overlapping meaning here these original three kings could be the three horns uprooted by the Antichrist:

“Now then, I tell you the truth: Three more kings will arise in Persia, and then a fourth, who will be far richer than all the others. When he has gained power by his wealth, he will stir up everyone against the kingdom of Greece. (Daniel 11:2)
Now this was fulfilled with Persia and Alexander the Great, but perhaps there is an overlap.

Grace and peace,
Mark

The first Great Federation being brought to judgment has a crown & has been conquering. This is the British Commonwealth (& America originally from Britain) which is ruled by a Monarch, (crown). These great powers work together.

The second Great Federation has shed much blood. This is the Russian Federation that has killed over 40 million people in its prisons & concentration camps.

The third Great Federation has brought economic poverty to the world. This is the European Union with its philosophy of a common market (free trade), that the world has embraced. These nations are brought to Christ`s feet, ready for judgment.

The final Great Federation only comes to power in the tribulation & treads down the others, for Satan himself & his demons give it his power & authority. This is the demonic force of Islam.

The Four Horsemen are the same guy, the first four seals represent the rise of the Antichrist. The fifth seal reveal the martyrs beneath the alter asking how long will God wait to avenge their blood. The sixth seal is cataclysmic wrath and they all hide in the dens and caves of the rocks to hid from the 'Lamb'. In the opening scenes the Antichrist is seen as the World Conqueror, followed by World War, World Famine and finally World Plague. It's all the same guy but at the same time he is raising an army and creating a terrible mess.
I agree with the first four, and even the 5th if you are speaking tribulation martyrs, but the 6th Seal doesn't bring the wrath per se, even though it is wrath, all 7 Seals are the Lambs Wrath. The human race only understands they are in the Day of the Lord when the Supernatural Event of the Sixth Seal comes to pass. The Lords Wrath is what made him loose the Anti-Christ. He rescues/Raptures the Church and releases his wrath. God is symmetrical, he doesn't start things in the middle. All of the Seals are the Lambs Wrath.

But I agree for the most part.

My response was about when and whom. 'When' does make a big difference because any person that existed many moons ago is disqualified.

The Four Horsemen are a part of the Seven Seals

The Seven Seals are the Lambs Wrath. He allows the Anti-Christ (White Horse) to come forth by opening the First Seal, he goes forth conquering and to conquer, which is what a White Horse stands for, but this Anti-Christ turns into a Beast when he conquers Jerusalem (42 Months). The other three Seals are effects of what the Beast/Anti-Christ/Little Horn does to the earth when he comes forth.

The Second Seal (Red Horse) is the Anti-Christ taking Peace from the earth, in other words this signifies that all of the Peace/Security deals he negotiated were just feints or deceits, he never intended to honor them, he only used these negotiated deals to gain leverage and trust over many including Israel. That is why Daniel 8:25 says he destroys many via peace. He Conquers and thus brings War to the world with has by-products which we see in Seals three and four.

Seal Three is opened by Jesus in Heaven. Famine comes forth unto the world. With wars commerce usually suffers, shipping lanes are attacked be they in the water or air in these latter days. And of course Jesus might take rain from the earth with the Black Horse.

The Fourth Seal is opened by Jesus, its the Pale Green Horse (Think Sickness). Its color is best described as Slime Green. It represents Death and the Grave (Hades). One fourth (1/4) of mankind will perish via these Four Seals or Four Horses. That could mean as many as 1.5 to 2 Billion people perish, according of course to how many people are Raptured and of course when this comes to pass, population wise things change of course. In my opinion, this timing right here (Four Seals) is when the Anti-Christ destroys the Harlot (All False Religions), and comes after the Woman of Revelation 12 (Israel) who Flees and is protected by God, then Martyrs the Remnant of the Church. He will wipe out all Religions, that way he has no competition, and can demand to be worshiped as the ONLY GOD !!

Seal Number Five is of course the Martyrs under the Alter. Not the Church that was Raptured and is in Heaven, but the Tribulation Saints who the Anti-Christ comes after with anger when he can’t get at the Woman (Israel). Of course he kills 2/3 of all Jews also, the ones that do not heed Jesus’ words and flee unto the Wilderness will be in a precarious situation, they must accept the Mark of the Beast or face death like everyone else. Jesus opens this Seal as a testimony against Satan, the Anti-Christ and his evil Minions. The Martyrs are given white robes and told by Jesus to wait until their Fellow-servants have been slain also, which means they must wait until the Beasts 42 Month reign is up. This makes Jesus’ anger rise up to a different level, thus the coming Sixth Seal is Supernatural in Nature.

The Sixth Seal is opened by Jesus in heaven. There is loosed upon earth a great earthquake, the sun becomes darkened, and the moon turns as blood-red. The heavens are shaken and the Stars fall from Heaven. In my personal opinion this is Satan and his Angels being cast out of heaven by Micheal the Arch Angel. The scriptures say the Kings, rich men and mighty men all try to hide themselves from what they say is the Wrath of the Lamb !! It hits them at this point in time that they are in the Day of the Lord (Gods 3.5 years of Wrath) which starts with the very First Seal being opened by Jesus in Heaven. The wicked men of earth only now realize that all of the Wars, Famine, Deaths etc. etc. were the Wrath of the Lamb, they understand it because of the supernatural happenings, the great earthquake, the sun turning dark/black and the moon turning blood-red.

Of course the Seventh Seal is opened in Revelation chapter 8, and it is the Seven Trumpets which leads to the Seven Vials. Each set of Judgments if you will notice gets worse and worse, all three sets of Seven Judgments ends with a massive earthquake that gets progressively worse with each occurrence. Is like God is warning the wicked to repent, repent, but they refuse to do so. Those that have taken the Mark of the Beast of course can not repent.

The Anti-Christ is the Man of Sin, no one will know his name before he rises to power, unless God so chooses to inform us, but he is born in Greece and comes to power via the European Union. And IMHO, he is alive and in the world and has been for awhile.

We are told that only the Lamb was found worthy to open the seals and reveal their meaning , soooooooooo.
1st horseman = Many shall come in my name saying I am the Christ and shall deceive many.
2nd horseman = wars and rumours of wars , nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom.
3rd horseman = And there will be famines.
4th horseman = And pestilences and earth quakes and what ever.

And as usual , it's always the first horseman and what he equals that causes discussion. Is Jesus referring to Christians and Christianity or is he referring to heaps and heaps of people claiming to be Jesus Christ. The answer as always, is what ever you want to think.
All four things you named come before the Tribulation. They have nothing to do with the Four Horsemen Brother. Matthew 14 Starts the Tribulation period, anything before that is from 70 AD to the Rapture, I should say Matthew 24:7-13-14 is from 70 AD to the Rapture, Matthew 24:1-6 is from Jesus to 70 AD.

Matthew 24:15-26 is the Tribulation period.

What!!! Muhammad died over a thousand years ago, it's unlikely that he is the Antichrist and you will never get what your saying from that text.
You assume the white horse and rider are the anti-Christ, I don't. The anti-Christ isn't mentioned until much later in the book.

Seals are designed for our benefit so that we in the last days can recognize the 'times of the signs'. They are the opening events to a greater course of coming prophecy and of bigger things to come.

Seals are "authenticated and no longer a secret" when we see events pass that resembles them well keeping in mind the sequence they're written. I'm convinced the first seal is HOLY WAR, the second seal is Saddam Hussein and the fall of Iraq, and the third seal is ISIS. That means that the Mid-East will soon go bad, much worse than it already is in the fourth seal where persecution and Islamic terrorism will really take off and could have something to do with Damascus, Turkey, or Iran.
The bow is some kind of a weapon and his initial conquest is probably based on intimidation.
Intimidation? Where do you find that? A literal weapon isn't indicated here. If it was said that the rider was going hunting or into battle then YES. The passage does not imply he was going to war or what or who he was out "conquering."

Consider this...Maybe the rider himself is the ammunition just as the jihad warriors of September 11 were. Arrow is translated "missile" and the 911 jihadist had no missiles except the planes they were in!

911xx.jpg

Arrows aren't mentioned in the text and we shouldn't assume they are. If Esau is said to take his bow hunting, then arrows are indirectly implied. If Ishmael is said to take his bow into battle, then we can assume they are implied. This prophecy doesn't mean that a white horse rider is out militarily conquering with a bow and arrows, or nuclear weapons. The bow is symbolic of EVIL and the origin of people, the followers of Muhammad, Islam, and their goal of conquering the infidel and the world. I think the rider is either Bin Laden or Muhammad. Bin Laden called for holy war in 1998, and CNN said he has been crowned, "the worldwide symbol of holy war!"
Initially the triumphant procession goes off without a shot being fired but it isn't long before peace is taken from the earth.
Other than jet liners being flown into skyscrapers. In the second seal, the word 'earth in Revelation 6:3 implies a region. Tha region is now in Chaos.
It symbolizes a weapon, a long range ballistic weapon. If God meant someone specific, certainly with regards to the bow there would be a direct connection in the text. The term for 'bow' is used one time in Scripture and the etymology of the root seems utterly irrelevant.
A weapon isn't implied whatsoever. The bow is symbolic of something. An arrow could represent a missle since the word 'arrow' is translated 'missle!' The ONE direct connection of the bow to the text is EVIL. The rest is more difficult. The emytology of the root word is always good to look at, and it's not always irrelevant.
The west has the largest arsenal of nuclear and chemical weapons on the planet. It seems very unlikely that the Middle East could come up with something to neutralize it. As a matter of fact, I think Islam will try to fight this guy and lose like everyone else who challenges him.
You and others say that but provide nothing to scripturally substantiate it. It doesn't matter if the West has NUKES or how many they have. Israel and the Mid-East region is the focus of end-time prophecy and where most of it transpires. Tribulation is worldwide because this is the "third jihad."
One fualty exposition is that this white horse and rider represent the anti-Christ, but he doesn't come on the scene until much later. Neither does Europe have anything to do with the end, and the MUSLIMS won't align themselves with some global dictator. The global dictator you people believe in is a pipe dream. The anti-Christ comes in Islam and his kingdom is limited to his 10/7 alliance of kings in the region of the Middle-East. His sidekick false prophet is one of their revered top dogs. Where is a global dictator found in prophecy?

I use to believe the white horse rider was the anti-Christ too.

It's interesting that Muhammad is called "the seal of the prophets," and the Mahdi is said to return on a white horse....and of course the crossed swords of Islam indicate conquest.

In the fourth day of creation God set the lights in the firmament to rule the times and the seasons. So four is a number of earthly rule.

There will be four great empires to rule the world (according to Daniel)...

1. The golden head - Babylon
2. The silver chest - Persia
3. The brass thighs - Greece
4. The iron legs - Rome

Someone prophesied that there would be four to rule Germany....

1. The First Reich -Charlemagne
2. The Second Reich -Napoleon
3. The Third Reich -Hitler
4. The Fourth Reich -The Anti-Christ

Four earthly regimes (the four horseman)...

1. White Horseman - Democracy
2. Red Horseman - Communism (Note the communist flag - red with a sword)
3. Black Horseman - Islam - Note the attackers are in black
4. Pale Horseman - The AntiChrist

The Fourth Reich -The Anti-Christ - Will set up a form of government similar to that of the previous Reichs. This government will take over the worlds finances and all financial transactions will be electronic. You will have to have special code on your body in the form of a tattoo either on your arm of forehead...

is a rainbow -
a covenant between God and man
It is. But it has other symbolic meanings too.

Psalm 64:2-5 Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy. Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity: Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words: That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not. They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?

Note... There were seven generations, in which the seventh, Enoch, experienced rapture. Followed by four generations that would see the ending of the first world...

There will be seven church congregations, in which the last, Laodicea, will experience rapture. Followed by four earthly regimes that will see the ending of this second world...

My view of Revelations is pretty straight forward, seals at the beginning (Rev. 1-7). Trumpets in the middle (Rev. 8-14), vials of wrath toward the end (Rev. 15-21). Of course there are a lot of other things going on obviously, but that's a general outline. Toward the end of the Trumpet blasts the two witnesses finish their testimony in Jerusalem that ends after 3 1/2 years. Between the seals and the Trumpets, the Trumpets and the Vials are considerable periods of time. During those times it's all conquest and plunder.

It doesn't mean it's not the same guy, just that the circumstances are getting increasingly violent and he is tightening his grip. At any given time in the last two thousand years there have been prime candidates for this role, God just hasn't started opening the seals yet.

Always interpreted that read as those horsemen coming during different timelines, because it never sounded like they were all out at the same time ever. Each represented historical types of failures of kingdoms to me. Now thinking its the same guy makes sense.

The four horseman are the four Gentile empires. Babylon, Medo\Persia, Greece and Rome. The same prophecy is repeated with more familiar illustrations in Revelation 13. This is from an article on a webpage I am re writing so it is not up yet. I start with Revelation 13 first and then go back to the four horseman.

The Book of Revelation's last seventeen chapters of prophecy are expansions on prophecy already given, ( and mostly already interpreted,) in the Old and New Testaments. Specifically, of those seventeen chapters; about a chapters worth covers the end of the Old Testament age and the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Then 13 chapters cover the age of the four gentile empires and their end. The last three chapters cover the age that was to follow which is this age, the age of promise. The age when all the earthly promises of God made to all the generations of saints that went before that remained unfulfilled in their lifetimes. Would, in nations that meet the conditions and through great warfare, begin to be fulfilled.

These chapters 6-19 of Revelation contain two, or perhaps it could be looked at as three different prophecies about the same time period. Two, (or three) prophecies about the same events that use different illustrations to describe those past, present and future events. Whether the Apostle received all this in one setting isn't known and is irrelevant. It is hard to understate the fact that if one is not already completely familiar with the Bible prophecy already given before Revelation, especially the scriptures that interpret that Bible prophecy. The Book of Revelation will be incomprehensible. Therefore it is perfectly understandable that most will not definitively see how these verses are talking about the deliverance of the believers from the war in Judea at the end of the Old Covenant age.

Revelation 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy 2 And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. 4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power to the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like the beast? who is able to make war with him? 5 And there was given to him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given to him to continue forty-two months. 11 And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon.......
This is a prophecy that uses the same animal illustrations that the book of Daniel uses to prophesy about the Babylonian, Medo\Persian, Greek and Roman Empires. If you remove claimants to the throne of Roman Empire and only count those who won the contest for the emperorship in civil wars. The seven heads are the first seven emperors, The ten horns are the next ten. The forty two months or 1260 days are 1260 years from the beginning of the reign of the eleventh of the ten emperors in Daniel Chapter seven; Septimius Severus. The prophecy of an animal that looks like a lamb with two horns illustrates the Roman Empire that claimed Christianity divided into eastern and western branchs.
Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and observed, a Lamb stood on the mount Zion, and with him an hundred forty-four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. 2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers playing on their harps: 3 And they sang in that manner a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty-four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. 4 These are they which were not tainted with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb where ever he goes. These were redeemed from among men, being the first fruits to God and to the Lamb. 5 And in their mouth was found no deceit: for they are without fault before the throne of God.
After chapter thirteen's past, present and future prophecy about the four empires. Chapter fourteen's first reference is to the Jewish believers in Judea. This is followed by a prophecy of a great harvest of souls in the Roman empire and the great persecution they suffered at the hands of the Romans. The persecution is noted because they are in heaven, as martyrs.
6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and tribe, and language, and people, 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters......13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from now on: Yes, says the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them. 14 And I looked, and saw a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in your sickle, and reap: for the time is come for you to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.....15:1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God. 2 And I saw what looked like a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. 3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are your ways, oh King of saints. 4 Who shall not fear you, O Lord, and glorify your name? for only you are holy: for all nations shall come and worship before you; for your judgments are made manifest.
The seven angels with seven plagues that follow in chapter 15 just like all of this prophecy are an exact repeat of the same prophecy in Revelation 6-11. There illustrated as seven trumpets. These judgments are pronounced against the city of Rome for the murder of the saints noted in the previous paragraphs.

Revelation 6, instead of beginning with a familiar illustrations of the four gentile empires this vision illustrates them as four horseman instead. That is why this page was started with chapter 13. The use of four horseman throws people off the trail even though the prophecy is repeated starting in chapter 13 using illustrations that are already interpreted in the book of Daniel as the four gentile empires.
Revelation 6:1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, what sounded like the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. 2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. 3 And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. 4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given to him a great sword. 5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and saw a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see you don't hurt not the oil and the wine. 7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. 8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
Then after that prophecy of the four empires and just like Chapters 13-15. The saints who are in Judea are prophesied about. This time with a little more detail. Verse 9-11 are words to the Old Testament believers and prophets that perished at the hands of the wicked over many centuries. That their sense of justice needs to be patient because it was necessary for the New Testament believers and apostles to face the same persecution and murder at the hands of the wicked who run Judea.
Revelation 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, do you not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 11 And white robes were given to every one of them; and it was said to them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled. This is just as Jesus had said to the leaders of Israel the day he gave his prophecy this article is about:
Matthew 23: 29. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because you build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchers of the righteous, 30. And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. 31. Wherefore you are witnesses against yourselves, that you are the children of them which killed the prophets. 32. Finish then what your ancestors started. 33. You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape the damnation of hell? 34. Therefore, look, I will send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them you shall beat in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: 35. That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. 36. Truly I say to you, All these things shall come upon this generation. 37. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that murder the prophets, and stone them which are sent to you, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and you would not! 38. Behold, your house is left to you desolate.
Now after the the prophecy of the persecution and murder of the New Testament saints is fulfilled. The judgment prophesied comes to the city that rejected Gods call. Who's leaders murdered the saints so that they could rule over God's inheritance.
Revelation 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, look, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, even as a fig tree casts her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. 4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. 5 Of the tribe of Judah were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand. 6 Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand. 7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand. 8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.
There were a couple of things to notice in those verses above. First, the use of some of the exact same illustrations all three accounts of Jesus's prophecy use starting in Matthew 24:29, Mark, 13:24 and Luke 21:25 use. This is a great insight in understanding Revelations timeline that employs very difficult to understand illustrative language to describe literal events that were coming. Jesus and many others say exactly when his prophecy would come to pass. This gives you a great clue as to the timing of these events in Revelation. The next thing to notice is for the Bible "literalists." If the heavens rolled up in like a scroll and every mountain and island moved out of its place. All life on earth would be immediately be extinguished. So get real. These are illustrations being used to prophesy about literal events that came to pass with a vengeance. Lastly, the division between chapter 6 and 7 is not sequential in time but two separate visions of the same time. "I saw this then after I saw this I saw that." Not: "This happened then that happened afterward's."
On to the next paragraph and just like Revelation 14:6-15:4. A great harvest of souls and great tribulation they suffered at the hands of the Romans follows the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD.
Revelation 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and families, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb. 11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, 12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and power, and might, be to our God for ever and ever. Amen. 13 And one of the elders answered, saying to me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and where did they come from? 14 And I said to him, Sir, you know. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sits on the throne shall dwell among them. 16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. 17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
This is then followed by seven judgments on the city of Rome illustrated in this vision as seven trumpets starting in chapter 8. Those seven judgments match the same seven judgments illustrated as seven plagues starting in chapter 15. Keep in mind the subject matter of this was to show the deliverance of the saints in Judea. Not from murder or persecution but from the judgments that came upon Judea because of the murder of the prophets, apostles and saints. That the Apostle John's visions in Revelation convey the same scenario and timeline about the destruction of Jerusalem and the deliverance of the saints as Matthew, Mark and Luke do in their record of Jesus's prophecy about the end of the first covenant age. In Johns account here though, he illustrates them as 144,000.
