Yes, social issues involve everyone. I didn't say other wise.

In terms of social issues, it seems liberal because they don't agree with you.

It "seems" liberal because they have thrown out the rule book along with common sense.

If that is the case, then both are destined for failure since love cannot be forced from anyone. It has to be freely given.

Exactly. Government should not be part of any Christian's action plan.

First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.-- 1 Timothy 2

We Christians pray for what we want, right? Why would we pray for what we don't want? Why would we pray for less than we want? If scripture tells us to pray for something--to ask the Big Guy to do something Big Guy Style for us, we'd ask for the very best thing, right?

So what does scripture urge us to pray for with regard to government? That government leaves us alone. That's all. Scripturally speaking, that is the only thing Christians should hope for from government: "Benign neglect."

Strange that so many of us (myself included) have so much to say about politics, and so little about evangelism and missions. We really have to think about Biblical priorities.

Isn't there a balance between principles and compromise?

Only if one is weak on principles. If I'm asked to compromise I say "Please excuse me".

Maybe Americans are too stupid to under more than a two party system?
I do not see how a multi-party system would be any better, especially with all of the back room wheeling and dealing to try to come up with a coalition that yields a majority.
