I get you about the impulses, brother. I never knew what they were; I usually don't ask myself questions about things like this, I just deal with it and fight it off using prayer.

From a fellow troubled man - if you don't mind me saying that - I would suggest seriously praying to God about fully surrendering yourself to Him, and then getting into little bits of prayer and meditative bible reading throughout the day; from my experience, impulses will either reduce or go away completely.

However, don't fall into sin again, "Lest a worse thing come upon you.".

I saw a criminal on TV recently (a guy who I'd been moved to pray against)

He was being escorted by cops and was smiling and all; I thought of us as similar. Not in the sense of being like him, no, but rather that without Christianity, or if I fell into sin, I could easily end up there. It was the same a few months ago when I saw another criminal on TV.

It's quite scary, but it is to me like this:
Some people have to burn their boats once they reach the shores of the Christianity, so that they can do better; or God burns their boats to get them serious, but men like us are folks who have no boats. If try to leave, we'll drown and die.

The good part about it is, you can really tell people exactly what divine grace is, and the power of it working on the heart, when you derive your very humanity from God.

Try some calmer styles of music, man. Ask God to change your tastes by His grace to suit His will for you. The thing is, a lot of the stuff we listen to now isn't acceptable to Him. Don't listen to anything you wouldn't consider spiritually wholesome and acceptable - but this is an acquired sense.

You have to seek His will about it. Pray about what's acceptable to Him and what isn't.

Hi! No, there's no reason that a sociopath cannot follow God. In fact, there are plenty of people who have this personality disorder who are very devoted Christians. One of my favorites is David Wood, you can watch his videos and his testimony on YouTube.

A word of advice: Because your conscience is impaired, it would be very prudent to be as diligent about reading your Bible as you can be, because this will help you discern good from evil. Also avoid situations in which you can easily fall into temptation, because your impulse control is also impaired.

Romans 8
