Why do I feel so weak and helpless? I'm 33 and still haven't accomplished anything in life...i feel so unsure and my life seems so meaningless now...all I do is sit around all day and think how I can change my life for the better. I am thinking about it now. I feel like I can't achieve anything even though I want to do so many things...i also feel so lazy....all the time...i just feel stuck where I am......i really need help but I know only I can help myself....and my faith is not good...i am worried that I might not be saved and that God is disgusted with me...so literally It seems like I have nothing and there's no hope for me anymore

Christ is your only hope. God may be putting you in a place to be humble so he can speak to your heart on your current crisis. I'm 34 and have given most my life to the devil. I'm 100 pounds overweight from idleness and gluttony. Sin, its sin and it's destroyed my life. Yet now Christ is throwing down my old person, and renewing me as a new creature. Let Christ be the finished achievement in your life! God can help, sometimes it takes prayer and quiet time to listen to God's words to us by reading the Bible. We, you and I, and everyone else needs to repent. repent simply means to turn our back on sin and our direction toward Christ to heal our hearts.

Jennifer, I pray for you now, and I will type it out. Lord God, I lift up Jennifer right now to you, may she see your love, grace and power. Your arm is not too short to reach and lift us up, may we come on your terms Lord and face the reality of our situation and come into agreement with it in Jesus's name.

God bless you, it's not easy to share circumstance such as this. Call on Him. He will give you direction

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Change your focus.

Thank you. It just feels like I'm living for nothing. Like there really is no hope left. I think I've done and made the biggest mistakes of my life. And I'm scared.

Jesus Christ is the LIVING God. He is only hope, when we focus on Him, He will impart to us His perfect love which casts out fear. :) 1John4:18 "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." NIV Translation

Lord thank you for Jenniferdiana's honesty and pray for You to hold her in her brokenness! Lord give her the comfort of Your presence in a way that she will understand, thank you Lord that you came as one of us to show us how you care for us, and that you yourself experienced brokenness so that we can know you understand our brokenness, with the pain of loneliness that we often feel

I think when most of us get in a rut like you are in now, we feel totally alone. We feel like its our fault, and above all we feel impotent, powerless to change things.
The good news is that our life can be changed. Can be transformed for the better. Partly by our effort but mostly by our awareness that if we let Jesus Christ run the show instead of our ego, we will discover the meaning of our lives and be happy.
God Bless.

Truth is life isn't great at times. For some its never really great. But what is this life really in the end? Its just temporal. Me? My life isn't that great. Sure I finally got married at 31, but my life isn't that great when you compare it to most people. But I'm happy still. Why? Because this 6o or 70 or 80 years of my life will be over at some point and will be nothing compared to the infinite amount of life after I die where I am healthy, not geeky, not "fat", not unable to do alot of things. My faith is in Jesus about the future. He is my joy as is His promise of what comes next.

Does this mean don't care about this life? Of course not. We should care still. But realize whatever happens this isn't the end and things will 100% get better.

Now as for being saved why would you think you are not saved? Because your not a missionary? Not out going to church every Sunday? Not reading your bible every day? These things are all well and good but they don't determine your salvation. BTW not saying you don't do those things of course, just was an example.

Ask anyone and you will never find a person that says there life is 100% perfect right now. We all have ruts and times of "laziness". Or in some cases literally can't do much. Actually the fact you care so much about all this shows your doing well. Because those who aren't saved or are truly lost don't ever think or care about their salvation or how God feels about them. Not that we should question our salvation constantly of course.

Brokeness is common also. I spent nearly 20+ years of my life in a dark pit of despair as a broken christian. I made a endless amount of mistakes. Some that are so dark that I wish I could take back for sure. It wasn't until my late 20s that someone helped me change my life back around. And when my wife came into my life... wow.... things got so much better. Though it was God of course that brought her to me and vica versa.

I've been in a rut for 5-6 years myself.

It's very strange to have yourself be your worst enemy, but it does make you a good fighter, at least.

I would suggest looking into herbs and supplements. Sometimes you just need something physical to give you that kick. We're only flesh and blood, in the end.

Also, may I suggest getting your health checked? When struggling with such issues, it's always good to get the physical side checked out. They may be causing or adding to your problems.

If you feel like you're going through some thing of an early-mid-life-crisis, I can relate..... I am educated, but run a register for a living. I often feel stupid and far behind where I "should be" or think I should be. At times I feel that life is passing me by, as well.

It occurs to me that I am something of a failure at life. A failure at success by the world's standards, at least. It also occurs to me that every stuck or disappointing life situation we're put in can be an opportunity for "little monasticism". A death of our will, ambitions, ego, and personal dreams as a way of giving all honor to Christ.

If you have sinned, ask God's forgiveness through Christ, and if it's something you're still involved it, stop, or call it off. If you're simply feeling useless or depressed, don't worry; you're not alone, and God can and does work through smallness, in awesome ways.

Look at Teresa of Calcutta. Such a small woman, living in the slums and serving the poor, mad, ill, dying, and unclean. She could have married, had children, perhaps had a comfortable and "successful" life, but she chose smallness, and God used her smallness as a mirror of His own love for us, and a striking and silencing image of what a Christian can and should be.

If you feel small and stupid, don't worry. I suspect many, many folks on CF feel the same about themselves. When we give God everything we have, He can make us truly lovely no matter where we are in life, or how much we earn. Just give Him everything, and ask that His will be done in your life. You can't go wrong with that.

About salvation:
Do you feel being beyond salvation because you feel you must earn God's love to see the truth if you are convinced you might need to join the church ? You earn it just by repentance which is what you have to do anyway. I suspect that is the reason I.e theology because it can't be your sins as you know God accepts the prodigal children

I said that to encourage even those who are troubled by what the church says if they are not assured by their relationship and that they can get one that even the church gives them some hope

I said if Protestants are not witnessed to with power I hope them to be saved just as any orthodox

However I believe one should be open to learning about the church if it will harm no one so you can make a decision that harms no one Jesus giving you maturity to know to present orthodoxy well and faith that He looks after your concerns that He can solve better than you. You dont have to do it all day but just intend to when you have nothing else you want to do. That is your heart not being closed but I'm not sure even that is possible to be sure on your own orthodoxy is truly God will for you now because of how you will be perceived as orthodox by family without being witnessed to with power

I have good reason therefore to hope that those Christians not witnessed to with power about orthodoxy being good for them to embrace now when they seem unready that they will be saved and equal as any orthodox but as orthodox we need not declare Protestants are saved but must not judge them. The position is we know where salvation is in the church and her sacraments but we do not know where it is not. I understand concern for people family I think it is valid but God wants us to love Him above all even if no one else chooses Him but I believe we have a duty to them

We may differ on opinion of what His will is for us or certain people or how we think we should do His will even though we or I may be misunderstood as judgemental but we can only be sure God knows the truth

You must believe it or Hope it but the greatest proof of salvation is when you feel God speaking to you in your heart and accepts you and is in your life I don't think that is only for saints but atleast it should be for saints

Remember it is the cowards who don't enter heaven. I think I may see people in heaven who kept believing God love them and didn't give up on God despite their struggles

About your life:
My theory but could be wrong is God does not want us to focus on gaining more knowledge to serve Him if we have not applied it by trying to save others who some don't want to hear your words. We end up hurting ourself and also others. We help best when we are well ourselves. Yes we should always wish to help others but we can not sometimes if we are not well. Many people though can help and are well and do not want to. We should always try to help and offer words of help if we have it and we must try to get it.
Knowledge always helps us serve God and offering good words is important but sometimes it is best to be short so you can say it better later when you become more wise and apply things to your own life.

We read the bible because it benefits us not because it is our duty to do good works to repent. I often told myself you are given another day to repent you should be thankful. But it is also another day given for you to be happy so you repent out of thankfulness. Measuring our day whether we repented and did only spiritual things and did not fall is what makes us fall more often

We have to ask how did we apply what we learned ?

Notice these good works below are called fasting. That is we naturally do them when we stop sinning. It is not about how many good works you need to do to be well it is about confessing false things you taught by your words and life by repenting of former conduct for salvation and good works are recommended for wellness here

Isaiah 58
Fasting that pleases God
1 “Cry aloud, spare not;
Lift up your voice like a trumpet;
Tell My people their transgression,
And the house of Jacob their sins.
2 Yet they seek Me daily,
And delight to know My ways,
As a nation that did righteousness,
And did not forsake the ordinance of their God.
They ask of Me the ordinances of justice;
They take delight in approaching God.
3 ‘Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and You have not seen?
Why have we afflicted our souls, and You take no notice?’
“In fact, in the day of your fast you find pleasure,
And exploit all your laborers.
4 Indeed you fast for strife and debate,
And to strike with the fist of wickedness.
You will not fast as you do this day,
To make your voice heard on high.
5 Is it a fast that I have chosen,
A day for a man to afflict his soul?
Is it to bow down his head like a bulrush,
And to spread out sackcloth and ashes?
Would you call this a fast,
And an acceptable day to the Lord?
6 “Is this not the fast that I have chosen:
To loose the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the heavy burdens,
To let the oppressed go free,
And that you break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,
And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;
When you see the naked, that you cover him,
And not hide yourself from your own flesh?
8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning,
Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
And your righteousness shall go before you;
The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
9 Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.
“If you take away the yoke from your midst,
The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,
10 If you extend your soul to the hungry
And satisfy the afflicted soul,
Then your light shall dawn in the darkness,
And your darkness shall be as the noonday.
11 The Lord will guide you continually,
And satisfy your soul in drought,
And strengthen your bones;
You shall be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
12 Those from among you
Shall build the old waste places;
You shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach,
The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.
13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
From doing your pleasure on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight,
The holy day of the Lord honorable,
And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,
Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking your own words,
14 Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord;
And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth,
And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.
The mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

God is not capable of being disgusted with you; that is not who he is.

There is only one thing that you need to worry about. Are you being faithful to God, and being the best version of yourself that you can be, with his Grace? Do what you have to do as faithfully as you can, and trust him for the rest.

Nothing else matters.

Thank you. It just feels like I'm living for nothing. Like there really is no hope left. I think I've done and made the biggest mistakes of my life. And I'm scared.

I hope and pray that I have also made the biggest mistakes of my life, because that means they are all behind me. That would be good.

As for being scared, well, that is natural; life can be daunting. Just trust in God and keep going. Perhaps find a church if you haven't already got one.

I was very lazy person for 20 years , i was depressed because i had no meaning for life but after i accepted Christ you know what cheer me up? That i don't care anymore about this life , because it's short , real life will start in heaven . Did you know that science says we can only see 3% of all matter in universe ? I wonder what is in that 97% where God is , there must be something fun to do here .

If you want ethernal life , read this , maybe you will get one .

1 John 5:13
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
rom 3: 10,23
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
rom 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rev 20:14
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
acts 16:30-31
And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
2cor 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him
1 cor 15:1-4
1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Gal 3:26
For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
1 Peter 1: 18-19
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
1 Corinthians 6:15
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Your feel helpless because you are. Lean on Jesus. God is not interested in your accomplishments. He wants to be close to you and for you to know Him. No matter what He does through your life, you will always remain just as helpless and for Him to work, you must be dependent on and trusting in Him.
