The word meditation comes from the Latin word meditārī, which has a range of meanings including to reflect on, to study and to practice. Christian meditation is the process of deliberately focusing on specific thoughts (such as a bible passage) and reflecting on their meaning in the context of the love of God.

Jonathan Edwards is widely regarded as "one of America's most important and original philosophical theologians". Edwards' theological work is broad in scope, but he was rooted in Reformed theology, the metaphysics of theological determinism, and the Puritan heritage... Edwards played a critical role in shaping the First Great Awakening, and oversaw some of the first revivals in 1733–35 at his church in Northampton, Massachusetts.[4][5]

I consider this consistent with Paul's teaching that Christians are saints who can still sin. And this sin is determined by God not ourselves or our community.

Don't be so binary. I meditate on both in agreement with Philippians 4:8

"8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

Additionally, here are Bible passages that I meditate on every day, maybe not deeply, but consistently)
-The I AM statements of Jesus
-Psalm 23
-2 Peter 1:3-11
-Psalm 138:2
-Psalm 34:4
-Colossians 1: 9b-14
-Ephesians 3:16

What do you make of Hebrews 8?

Have you meditated on that TRUTH?
Sure, I have meditated on Hebrews 8. Lots of good stuff there. And sure, I have meditated on TRUTH. In fact, I have more TRUTH than everyone I know. (Proud people hate it when I talk this way, humble people just roll with it.) Back in seminary, the student-leader of my prayer prophesied to our group the I was "a man of TRUTH".

So in Hebrews 8 do you agree that (under the NEW COVENANT) no man will need to teach another, know THE LORD. for they shall all know HIM...from the least to the grestest?

You agree with Jeremiah 31 and that today and even now, through faith in JESUS, this NEW COVENANT is being poured out upon those who believe in JESUS as SAVIOR and LORD

Because all who believe in HIM, who are baptized into HIM, have risen in HIM and are led by HIS SPIRIT

Why?
He prophesied to all of us in the group during a prayer meeting that I was a man of truth. Why? That is what he sensed that God wanted him to do. It surprised all of us. It was more for them than for me.

The background is that a group of about 7 "spiritual" students was having a weekly prayer time together. One of my close friends was in it and I asked to join. At the prayer meeting, the others were skeptical of me as I did not have a "spiritual" reputation. After the prophecy, everyone in the group felt they could trust my participation. I stayed in that group until graduation.

And this other group of peers after it was said that you were s man of truth trusted in your participation in what

And what exactly is a "spiritual" student according to the group leaders

Regarding Hebrews 8 - I don't think we have reached the point where everyone knows the Lord and no one needs teachers. Maybe we will during the Millenium. Regarding Jer 31, yes the New Covenant has begun but the promises to Isreal have not yet been fulfilled. So we are experiencing the "Now and Not Yet" Kingdom of God.

The Apostle Paul professed his credentials as did other writers of scripture both OT and NT. So did Jesus. I am following the standard Biblical model. As I said on another thread, the messenger is more important than the message. When I was young, I was taught mostly by godly men and now that I'm older, I'm taught mostly by the Holy Spirit.
