Heaven is a fascinating topic to discuss. Unfortunately, many people have a myopic view of what Heaven is like. A lot of people think it's just some place with clouds and harps. But, in actuality, word's don't fully do justice to how beautiful Heaven is. It's a realm of perfect peace, happiness, beauty, and love. And it's not just one place, that looks the same for all; Heaven is multi-dimensional, it has an infinite variety levels.

I've even heard people ask the question "will I get bored in Heaven?"
That question comes from a lack of understanding of the beauty of God, a lack of understanding of who God is. God is eternal, boundless, and infinite. His glory cannot be contained - it never ends. You will spend eternity discovering greater and greater levels of God's radiant beauty.

Heaven, fundamentally, is being directly in the presence of God and experiencing his glory.
So, really, to be in Heaven is to be absorbed into God, or to be in God; the realm emanates from him.

Heaven does not look like just one thing. It is finely tuned to each individuals subjective preferences. God values our unique identities -it is what makes us special. Diversity is beautiful.

Heaven will be like anything you find to be beautiful and grand, but multiplied by infinity and in perfect HD quality.

The glory of God is boundless. This is the beginning of an never-ending journey with God.

Besides near-death experiences, which I've listened to, I believe our dreams are somewhat a reflection of what we might experience in the spiritual world. In dreams, we don't feel our mortal bodies and I've had some dreams where I could actually fly. Upon waking up I felt let-down, like I didn't want to wake from the amazing spiritual experience. On the other hand, I've had complete opposite experiences. Just the other night I had a dream where I was in prison and I remember having emotions of being scared, lonely and extreme hopelessness. Upon waking up from that dream, I felt very relieved. I will spare the details, but it wasn't nice.

But the good dreams can be amazing.

I envision Heaven as an overwhelming loving community of souls where everyone knows their purpose who've been there a while and will train and show newcomers the way, whatever that may be. There has to be a purpose of our trials here on earth, I really do think that when we reach Heaven we will remember some of our lives on this planet, but we won't dwell upon it because the overall joy and love our souls will experience will far outweigh any grief left behind. If we didn't, what would be the purpose of our lives here? We are here to learn and get the experience of a fallen world, living among evil, so we can appreciate God in Heaven that much more.

We live in a world with aching bodies, stress and sorrow. I think Heaven will be the complete opposite and I honestly look forward to the day when I can finally experience my eternal home in the presence of God and all the goodness it will bring.

I don't think us being mortal humans can even comprehend the spiritual world, but I do believe it will be so amazing that earthly words and emotions that we know could ever come close to rationalizing it.

The things we deal with here on earth seem trivial when you see the big picture.

Hello MessianicMystic, and welcome to CF and to Traditional Theolgy.

Our Tradition does not go deeply into details about what the life in the age to come will be like, but you have hit on a very interesting and correct answer. We will indeed grow closer and closer to God, being ever amazed by the depths of His glory and Presence, because He (being the uncreated God) is forever "more" than the creation can ever fully comprehend. No, we certainly won't be bored. :) And we don't envision harps and sky-clouds. Though Revelation certainly tells us some things about worship in the presence of God. :)

Again, welcome to the forums. If you need help navigating or have any questions, feel free to ask. :)

We also teach that our experience of Heaven will be based of the experience of how we react to God's pure unadulterated love and presence...which in the case of the saved is pure bliss.

I remember that Jesus says it's a place where all your wanted treasures will be

Scripture?

I know He says we ought to store up our treasures in heaven, but that's a very different thing than suggesting that "Heaven" is where all our "wanted treasures will be" which comes across as "In Heaven, you get all this great stuff!". I think if we are truly paying attention to the Lord in His teachings, we would know better, Christ invites us to turn the way we think about everything on its head, saying, "repent, the kingdom of God is at hand, believe the good news!" The word translated as "repent" is metanoia, and has the connotation of a change of mind; basically it means "stop thinking this way and think this way instead" or "stop doing things that way and do them this other way". The Lord invites us to turn everything over on its head, He says the least is greatest, the last shall be first, that the slave is greatest in the kingdom, and so on. He says Blessed are the poor, and Blessed are they that hunger, etc.

In other words, Jesus invites us to have a radical redefinition of priorities, values, and what we consider to be "treasure".

I'm also reminded of where in The Great Divorce C.S. Lewis speaks of those in Hell (described as a massive dull grey city) as getting everything and anything they want merely by desiring it.

there are three heavens that are mentioned in the bible

the first heaven is the blue sky with clouds

the second heaven is terrestial outerspace

the third heaven is the kingdom of God the golden city

i have been to all three in vision

somehow God abides in all three heavens

the third heaven is very magnifigant. the golden buildings make modern day skyscrapers look like little toys. and the largest golden building looks similar to the taismah hall.

the terrestial heaven is a very awesome yet scarry place at the same time. it resonates with sounds that sound like very loud vibrations and it goes on forever.

the first heaven is by far the most peaceful. this is where God pronounces judgement. this is where the queer of heaven sings hymns.

What I've assumed is that our relationship with the Holy Trinity will be very different in the afterlife. We pray to God in this life but I imagine that worshiping the Almighty in person for the first time will be so different an experience as to be a game-changer.

I guess to get really speculative, God will have different jobs for each of us to do. There's not much I can base that on other than an assumption that we weren't created to live in eternity just to sit on our back sides the whole time.
