What about rejecting or embracing Love in general...? I do both of those sometimes, depending usually on my mood at the time, or for other reasons involving imperfect human to human love... I don't want to be that way with the only perfect one however...? But, I wonder if I have or do sometimes...?
But, I have wondered if rejecting Love is rejecting God or not...?
God Bless!

I'd say yes.

Don't you think that's a petty reason to torture someone forever? Let alone the fact that there's NO reason someone should be tortured forever. But for something as simple as not believing? Sounds like a threat, a scare tactic, and a "either worship me or I'll torture you" worldview.

The phrase is "Torment" and the torment is self-inflicted
based mostly on things you have said in your lifetime.
Other than yourself, there is no one to blame.

But no one would ever choose to be tortured in a pit of burning fire for all eternity. NO ONE.

And even if someone were to choose such a thing, it would probably be due to insanity, and God, knowing this, wouldn't hold them to it.

What sends you to hell is the opposite of this verse here in Romans 10

Not believing in your heart God raised Christ from the dead, not confessing with your mouth Jesus is Lord, (you must confess Christ as Lord somehow, some people can not talk). If you do not believe in the resurrection then you have no part in Christ's resurrection and your spiritually dead. Spiritually dead people go to the place of the dead in hell. Believers are buried with Christ, the old man is dead, they are raised with Christ as new creatures in Christ, they are joined one spirit with Him, and have His nature of everlasting life.

Romans 10 says whoever who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved, so not calling on Christ to save you damns you to hell to die in your sins unforgiven.

In His name is preached the forgiveness of sins.

Romans 10
Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

5 For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.” 6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or, “‘Who will descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Again, the "believe in me or I'll torture you" principle.

Again, the "believe in me or I'll torture you" principle.
Christ saves us from God's wrath.
If someone does not believe Christ died on a cross for their sins, and that God raised Christ from the dead, and dont confess Christ as LORD, then their is nothing in the future for them except wrath. God clearly said the soul that sins shall die, if you do not believe then you have no forgiveness of sins.
Yes, their is a fiery wrath of doom and destruction, burning coals of fire on the heads of the ungodly unforgiven sinners.
God repays the wicked for what they do to the righteous, and their sins against God do not go unpunished. God gets very personal with His creation, nothing escapes His notice.

1 Thessalonians 1:9-10New King James Version (NKJV)
9 For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

1 Thessalonians 5:9-10New King James Version (NKJV)
9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.

2 Thessalonians 1:6-12New King James Version (NKJV)
6 since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, 7 and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, 8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10 when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.

11 Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, 12 that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

But no one would ever choose to be tortured in a pit of burning fire for all eternity. NO ONE.

The phrase is "Torment" and the torment is self-inflicted
based mostly on things you have said in your lifetime.
The fire is in you mind, and is your regret for the life
you've lived. "The pit" is your depression, self imposed.

"Eternity" is simply the fact that time does not exist there.
"Eternity" or "everlasting" is the closest words we have for
a place with no time.

Look at how scripture "role plays" a persons visit to Hell:

The Rich Man and Lazarus
(John 5:39-47)

19Now there was a rich man dressed in purple and fine linen, who lived each day in joyous splendor. 20And a beggar named Lazarus lay at his gate, covered with sores 21and longing to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

22One day the beggar died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. And the rich man also died and was buried.

23
In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham from afar, with Lazarus by his side.

24So he cried out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. For I am in agony in this fire.’

25But Abraham answered, ‘Child, remember that during your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things. But now he is comforted here, while you are left to suffer.

26
And besides all this, a great chasm has been fixed between us and you, so that even those who wish cannot cross from here to you, nor can anyone cross from there to us.’

27‘Then I beg you, father,’ he said, ‘send Lazarus to my father’s house,

28
for I have five brothers. Let him warn them so they will not also end up in this place of torment.’

29But Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let your brothers listen to them.’

30‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone is sent to them from the dead, they will repent.’

31Then Abraham said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”

As you can see, Hell allows for some limited conversation with Abraham.

'They will not be persuaded even if Christ rises from the dead', how true and the unbelieving world remains not persuaded. And they do not listen to the scriptures either. And Abraham is not going to send anyone either, Abraham will not intercede with God for these unbelievers, they already have the testimony of God and they won't be persuaded. They also saw Christ's miracles and did not believe in Him either.

John 6:35-37New King James Version (NKJV)
35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
36 But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe.
37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.

There is a lot of truth in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus and that truth is born out in Christ's words, that they see His miracles (works) and regardless do not believe . Only the sheep of Christ believe. Imagine seeing Christ and the works He did and still not believeing. Well the reason they do not believe is because they are not the sheep, which means Christ is not their shepherd, Christ is the great Shepherd of the sheep..

John 10
25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me.

26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you.

27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.

Hebrews 13
20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Simple question: "What sends a person to hell...?"

Comments...?

God Bless!

Pastor Bob Jones had a near death experience back in the '70's. He reports that Messiah Yeshua - Jesus simply asked him....."Did you learn to love?"

If we remain in un-forgiveness toward others.... that is an extremely dangerous mind set.

Dr. George Ritchie in a near death experience in 1943 saw parts of hell. He saw some people
wrestling with extreme guilt after committing suicide. He saw another realm where people were lashing out at others, blaming all their problems on others.......... as opposed to taking responsibility for their own sins.

I often quote those verses as well.
That's why I did.

It seems like people are tormented by things they said,
which is why his tongue is so tormented.
