Our Beloved, Y'shua, told us to learn the parable of the fig tree in 3 different gospels (Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21). Why? Because then we would know that the end is near, even at the doors. He went on to explain when the parable is seen: This Generation Shall Not Pass. The Lord did not want us to be ignorant of this parable so what, or who, are these figs?
I believe the heart of the parable is found in Jeremiah 24 when the LORD asks Jeremiah what he sees? Jeremiah answers, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil. Now figs are food, they are neither good nor evil; so what were they really telling us? Our Father was telling us to watch for these Peoples in the end times that we could understand the end is near, even at the doors.
Who are these figs then? Well, who is before the Temple of the LORD today? The remnant of His Jewish children and the Palestinian people. Your thoughts are welcome.

The fig tree is the Jews (Zechariah 11:14). Israel is the Body of Christ, the Church, the Assembly.

"And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Near and at the door in God's view of time or near and at the door in Mans view of time?

Did James not know the parable, and which "near at at the door" (God's or Man's) was meant when he practically quoted it?:

8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near.
9 Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!
James 5:8-9

Surely James would have known NOT to say that if He hadn't seen the signs, right?

Well, who is before the Temple of the LORD today? The remnant of His Jewish children and the Palestinian people.

How are these people "before the temple of the Lord today"?

Via reading Matthew 24 its pretty clear that the Fig Tree becoming ripe means that SUMMER is near, and likewise when you see ALL of these signs (mentioned in Matthew 24 by Jesus) then you will know my coming/return is NEAR.

What are the SIGNS?

Jesus said that the Temple and City of Jerusalem would be Destroyed, but that the end was NOT YET. Jesus said that before that happened there would be false chirsts (the Pharisees tried to force a Messiah to the fore).

Jesus said that Kingdoms would rise against Kingdoms, pestilences and earthquakes would abound, the Disciples would be BETRAYED and Martyred. And false prophets shall arise and deceive (this is the 2000 year period). The love of many will wax cold, but he that endures till the end (of ones life) shall be saved. So all of these signs must also come to pass, BUT......That's not ALL......Jesus said all of these things must be fulfilled, or ALL of these signs must come to pass.

The Jesus said the Gospel has to be preached unto all the World, the Abomination of Desolation must happen, Israel has to Flee to the Wilderness. There must b a TIME OF TROUBLE like never before and thus God/Jesus had to minimize this time period to Seven Years to keep mankind from utterly destroying himself. BUT...That's not all the signs still.

There will be an Anti-Christ and False Prophet that works WONDER/MIRACLES and they will try to deceive the Jewish peoples, but will not be able to because Jesus forewarned them right here.

Then finally the Sun will be Darkened, the Moon will turn blood red and the Stars of Heaven will be shaken, whether that is actual stars or Angels being cast down to earth don't know for sure.

So when we see ALL OF THESE SIGNS, understand that Jesus Coming will be VERY NEAR. I do not see the Fig Tree per se as about Israel, its an analogy about who a Ripe Fig means summer is near and how when we see all of Jesus prophesied signs, then Jesus' return is also NEAR.
