Reflexive profanity comes from a part of the brain you don't have a lot of control over.
Try singing or poetry and see if that overcomes the problem.
Perhaps even humming a tune might help.

Praying for you brother. If you focus with your will on it you can for a time have control, but is temporary by your effort alone. We need His grace to overcome and fight the battle. Those are homing landmines placed by the enemy to discourage you and set your mind away from Jesus. I sometimes have thoughts that i know are not my own so i rebuke the enemy in Jesus name every time they appear. It happens because we have not closed all the doors and the enemy can influence us by placing thoughts to disturb us. Much prayer is needed on a daily basis and reading of the Holy Scripture and living a righteous life.

God bless you, brother in Jesus name. Keep your mind on Jesus and give Him praise.

I do seem to have control over it in social situations though, so it should be feasibly under my control when I'm alone.

Swear words start and or end with hard consonants. They are not really "words" so much as basic sounds, or grunts of pure emotion. People with severe brain injuries and unable to speak will sometimes swear out of frustration with no speech issues. The swearing comes from a different, more emotional part of the brain. And who doesn't have unspoken frustration in their lives?

Good to hear brother. I noticed they attack me when i am down, feeling remorse for my past actions. They know exactly what to use to deal most pain and damage. So for me the hidden ace card is to keep something that cheers me up handy. Right now that is praise music.
