Simple answer.... We don't. .....

Question for you yeshuaslavejeff. Somebody came along, when I wasn't looking, and took my pride. Have you seen it? Any body seen it? Anybody know where it went?

Simple question:

How do we rid ourselves of pride?

By always giving God the glory when you understand something, do something right, receive something, etc. You have to realize everything that comes to you is a gift including understanding. This understanding is from God and there is no understanding without God.

We all struggle with it but that's the easiest way I understand it. Thinking you are away from God or separated makes you prideful bc you think its all you. So you must realize you are loved and that God is with you and always helping you. To always be present with God.

In Genesis it describes that Abraham and his tribe would dig a well for water. Then would come other peoples from Canaan tribes and confiscate the use of that well.
Abraham did not fight them over the well, but rather went elsewhere and dug another well.
Hhhmmm, food for thought.
Moses is also described as being the most humble man on the face of the earth.

And to man He said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom! And to depart from evil is understanding! Job 28:28
Behold, the eye of Jehovah is to those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy;
Psalms 33:18
Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear Jehovah and depart from evil.
Proverbs 3:7

4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it remains in the vine,
so neither can you unless you abide in Me.
5 I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
John 15:4-5

4 For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds,
5 pulling down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge
of God, and bringing into captivity every thought into the obedience of Christ;

6 and having readiness to avenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

I like that you mention Romans 6 for that entire passage is based around baptism.

"Baptized into his death... So that we may walk in newness of life"

It's amazing - and deeply concerning - to me how few Christians understand this most basic of principles of Christian living. They try all sorts of methods and strategies to deal with sin: lots of self-effort, trying hard, staying busy, charitable service, bible reading and prayer. But the strategy the Bible outlines is rather different and involves the very thing Christ spoke of as essential to following after him:

Matthew 16:24
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Anyone who has seriously attempted to "take up their cross" and enter into the life of self-denial and death that is the course Jesus set for every Christian to follow soon realizes that living this way consistently requires a power they cannot muster from within themselves. It's impossible to crucify one's self - physically or spiritually. Of course, God knows this and so He has acted long ago to do for us what we could not do for ourselves. On the cross of Calvary He crucified the source of all our sin: Self.

When most Christians hear this sort of thing, though, they glaze over and tune out. The crucified life, death to Self, sounds so esoteric and arcane (and rather unpleasant, too), and so evidently opposite to the facts of reality. Modern believers have been starved of this teaching for so long, that when they hear it these days it sounds like mystical, religious gobbledy-gook to them instead of the "meat-and-potatoes" of Christian living that it is. No wonder, then, that so many believers live in a perennial state of spiritual defeat, resigned to such a condition as the "normal" Christian life. Certainly, this is what I read of again and again on this site. Believers ignorant of one of the most basic and essential truths of Christian living trying their best to go on without it and employing all sorts of religious stop-gap measures to make up for their knowledge deficit. And as one would expect, their success in doing so is very limited; for God never intended spiritual victory over all sin to come through any other means than that which He has laid out for us in His word.

On the cross of Calvary He crucified the source of all our sin: Self.
That was the first part. Then comes the power to become and live as a Christian.
One must be born again by water and the Holy Spirit. And herein lies the first obstacle of pride.
That people argue over the necessity of water baptism and by pride deny the commandments of God.
Just as Moses and Solomon received very specific instructions on exactly how to build the Tabernacle and later the Temple, so Jesus gives exact and specific instructions on how to become the Temple of the living God. But pride gets in the way and men and women convince themselves that they can do things
better by their own thoughts and philosophies.

How are you doing this? What is your method? What makes up your typical day?
15 But if you bite and devour one another, take heed that you are not consumed by one another.
16 I say, then, Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh. And these are contrary to one another; lest whatever you may will, these things you do.
18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are clearly revealed, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lustfulness,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, fightings, jealousies, angers, rivalries, divisions, heresies,
21 envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revelings, and things like these; of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith,
23 meekness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
24 But those belonging to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not become glory-seeking, provoking one another, envying one another.
Galatians 5:15-26

Really you can only do this by the power and work of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Simple question:

How do we rid ourselves of pride?
How do we rid ourselves of pride?
Study the bible a couple hours a day.
I think that's what God wants you to do anyway.
Matthew chapter 4 verse 4
Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"
Romans chapter 1 verse 28
Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

John chapter 8 verse 31,32
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, " If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
2 John
9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
Job chapter 23 verse 12
I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.

Matthew 11
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Luke chapter 21
33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
Romans chapter 10
17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
Mark chapter 13
31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
James chapter 1
25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
James chapter 4
8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Isaiah chapter 45 verse 19
I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob's descendants, 'Seek me in vain.' I, the LORD, speak the truth; I declare what is right.
Jeremiah chapter 9
24 but let the one who boasts boast about this:
that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,”
declares the Lord.
Jeremiah chapter 5 verse 1
5 “Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem,
look around and consider,
search through her squares.
If you can find but one person
who deals honestly and seeks the truth,
I will forgive this city.

*You* can't. No one can. It's like a car with its tires stuck in the mud. The harder you try to get out, the more stuck you become.

Fail to realize this, and you will have a very difficult time as a Christian.

That's precisely what I was going to say, brother. Our sanctification is as much an act of God's sovereign, monergistic grace as regeneration and justification.

It's counterintuitive, but we don't become more like Christ by trying harder. The Christian life is lived, from start start to finish, by faith.

It's not a self-improvement project. Our lives are lived by our union with Christ.

The law gives us no power to obtain godliness. We already know what is expected, but we do not have the power to comply.

I know that you already understand the above. I'm preaching to myself, and possibly helping an onlooker.

How are you doing this? What is your method? What makes up your typical day?

When I first encountered the truth of my death to sin through my co-crucifixion with Christ, it confused, frustrated, and angered me. I was a teenager (I'm fifty now) and was struggling with lust and went to my Dad talk about it. At one point, he said, "You are dead to sin, Jon. Do you realize this? Sin has no more power over you than you give it." I was puzzled. It was very evident I wasn't dead to sin which is why I was talking with my Dad in the first place! How could I be dead to sin and not at the same time?! Clearly, my Dad was wrong and so was the Bible! But, my Dad persisted, "You are dead to sin, whatever you feel and think," he'd say. I would become annoyed at the obvious falsity of this statement. My Dad would respond, "What will you believe? What you think and feel and experience? Or what God says?" I was so used to letting my feelings and experience define my reality that I had a very hard time exercising faith in my death to my "old man." I just couldn't get over the idea that my feelings and experience were what was true rather than what God said.

But God was faithful. The day arrived when the light came on fully in my mind concerning this truth and I began to settle into the reality of my death to Self. What did this look like? Well, it looked like what Paul commanded in Romans 6:11. When I was faced with lust, I began to declare the truth about my position in Christ, about my co-crucifixion with him, and to stand on it. As the temptation to indulge a lustful impulse occurred, I would say to myself, "I am dead to sin and alive unto God through Jesus Christ! Sin has no more dominion over me." I would yield myself to God in that moment and ask Him to bring the truth of my death to Self, to my "old man," into my experience by the transforming power of His Spirit (Romans 8:13). And, to my surprise, I found in doing so a capacity to resist lust that had not been mine before! It wasn't that God eradicated all sexual impulse. Not at all. But as I in surrender to God "reckoned" myself "dead to sin and alive unto God," I was able to deny the temptation to lust decisively. And the more I did so, the weaker the temptation to lust became!

This process has not changed much, really, to this day. I still proclaim the truth of Romans 6 to myself in the face of temptation. And I must always do so in a state of surrender, of yieldedness, to God. One thing I have discovered, though, is that neither surrender to the Spirit nor the declaration of God's truth in the face of temptation have the power they can have if I have unconfessed sin standing between me and God. Keeping short accounts with God is very important to spiritual victory.

I could go on but I think this might suffice for now.

Well I would like to hear his POV too..
Why?

I believe a few posters have posted what YHWH says about the question, directly from His Word - no pov involved/ distracting from YHWH'S Way.

'Religion' got in trouble (A LOT, worldwide) by following 'point-of-views'/ mankind's opinion instead of simply what YHWH says , directly.

Um, I don't know about this...We are born again by the Spirit, yes, but baptism isn't integral to salvation. That would constitute works-salvation which the Bible expressly denies. Don't get me wrong: Baptism is an important step of obedience for every believer; it just isn't salvific.
