The Bible says things like, "Be ye holy, for I am holy." And, "Be perfect, because your father in Heaven is also perfect."

Except, I don't know how to be perfect and holy on my own. I feel like this is a command that is impossible to keep. He said that when He knew we are all sinners, so why does He expect us to keep His commandments when we are not saved? He knows we cannot lead a sinless lifestyle without His help.

I am trying to think logically, but nothing makes sense.

I am also afraid that anyone who does not measure up to God's perfect moral standards He will judge, even though He knows that none of us are perfect and no one can really keep His law. Does that mean He is an unloving, harsh judge after all? I am afraid of being judged and hurt and tormented like I already have been so many times. What I need is love and understanding, not judgment and condemnation. I hope He understands that.

I am so paralyzed by fear I can hardly move. How can I get over the fear of GOD judging me and sentencing me to Hell?

I am afraid of Hell. I don't want to go there. I would gladly give up any earthly possessions I had if it meant I could go to Heaven.
Hi Little Sister,
The world's standard, which is built around the lies of the devil, who was the one that got us into this mess in the first place, is God is not good enough, God doesn't care about you, and you will never certainly be worthy enough for Him. The Truth is God is much more loving and good to us than we'll ever know in this world, He cares enough for every single person to have sent His Son Jesus to bear their sin on a cross and makes you worthy by giving the Holy Spirit to all who ask.
  • Luke 11:13 “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
Sometimes in our life the only voice we physically hear is akin to Job's nagging wife who after he lost everything and was desperately ill said to him; "Why do you still hold fast to your integrity, curse God and die." - Job 2:8
Now we know why the devil took everything else Job had but purposefully left her to further trouble his faith. :) Yes, be aware that there is spiritual warfare against the saints but stay resolute in trusting God and wait upon the Lord for your deliverence; for He is faithful and true and a rewarder of those who persevere. Do not think it strange that the enemy may attack from without and the enemy may attacks from within. Even Charles Spurgeon struggled with depression at times but he allowed himself to be shaped by it. So I guess its true what doesn't kill you make you even stronger - perhaps God is preparing you like he did Paul after He knocked him off his high horse and blinded him by brightness of His being. Think how he felt blinded lying there knowing He had been persecuting God's people thinking he was serving him, and by that very act learned he was persecuting Christ Himself. He was sweating it out but God was already preparing Ananias to lay hands on him to receive the Holy Spirit. Just let God shape you sister His refining work may melt the metal and re-twist your form from its former self but what He reforges in your soul will be strong and everlasting. The devil has no chance against our loving refiner and no one or thing can pluck you from the hands of the one who gave His life for you! This I know from experience and from the testimonies of others.

Also remember that Saint Paul also had carried the continual thorn in his side but was told the Lord's strength is made perfect in weakness. 2 Cor 12:7-10
If I've learned anything in my walk with Christ it is to trust God and wait upon the Lord for He has our six and I need only set my eyes on Him and not my flanks nor backbiters behind me Isaiah 52:12 and Isaiah 58:8.

So just keep giving yourself to Christ the Beloved and hold nothing back from Him; for His desire is to not only save you from your sins but make you into His light bearer of love to a dying world. God loves it when we depend on Him in faith for His righteousness. We don't always get grace because we tend to think of love in worldly terms rather than in God terms. Be astounded by God's love for you and for perishing humanity. Go through the Gospels and soak in all the compassion you see in Jesus and His great love for us. Marvel at the purity of His sacred heart and retell stories of the love and kindness that you see in it to the people you meet and your story will be His story and His song.
  • Pro 22:11 He who loves purity of heart and has grace on his lips, the king will be his friend.
H rather than depend on what we think we can bring in self-righteousness. The source of the living waters resides in Him and not us so swim downstream in the current of the Lord and He will bring you to the fruitful land nourished by His rivers of love for you. Here are some verses for you my young sister in Christ, let God's Word richly seep the truth of His love into your troubled soul till His love fills your heart with joy.

  • Matthew 9:13 “But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
  • 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
  • 1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

May the blessing of Christ be upon you
In Jesus Name, Patrick
