Actually my first primary Bible was the KJV.

I agree with the Textus Receptus Greek texts being the best source.
I know exactly what you are talking about, related to the Sinai texts.

However, the Geneva Bible of 1599 is also a tremendous accomplishment.
It was what the Pilgrims brought to America.

For some the KJV has taken on a "cult-like" following that tends to ignore any problems.

As I said before, all translations have their problems.

Only the original Hebrew and Greek texts are perfect.

I like Mike Hoggard and have donated to his ministry before.

I also used to get Chuck Missler's newletter.

I like some of Chuck's Eschatology and his defense of God's Word, but I do not agree with his belief in Eternal Security. Many believe in Eternal Security, even Pastor Warren W. Wiersbe in whom I recently quoted. This is one doctrine I strongly disagree with.

Anyways, I like Mike Hoggard's preaching style. He is really funny. He makes some great points about the KJV. But I do not agree that we should read the KJV alone because we are not experts in 1600's English. Just as we are not experts in Greek.

Nowhere did I say that speaking from the KJV is speaking in God's original language. That is a false accusation if that is what you think about my opinion about the KJV. I said Modern Translations are helpful in updating the Eartly Modern English (the 1600's English).
I was not accusing you of anything. My little quip at the end about people speaking in old English, thinking that makes them more holy, was not directed at you. That was just a little aside.

With Bible computer programs like e-Sword it is simple to check the Greek or Hebrew.

I have a Strong's Concordance, but hardly use it now.

You still have to go off what somebody else says the Greek means by faith and there are a variety of definitions. Again, there is no way for you to truly know you are right. With English, you grew up writing and speaking it amongst real people. Nobody can pull the wool over your eyes in what the English says. In fact, the problem today is that folks ignore what God's Word says in their own language. This is a problem. God is not going to hold us accountable to knowing another language. He was able to communicate people's different languages at Pentecost just fine.

It is possible for me to see that the Greek word "diakathe" was translated as "covenant" some places in the KJV and as "testament" in other places in the KJV, and therefore I can do some thinking on my own in this regard.

I have also taken a look at the English word "temple" which is from the Greek word "naos", which is the inner sanctuary, while the Greek word "hieron" is the temple complex. The KJV translates both Greek words as "temple" even though they are not the same. Again, I can look at their use in the text myself with this knowledge.

If you want to ignore the Greek, that is fine.
However, I have already used it to better understand God's Word and you will never convince me otherwise based on the examples given above.

While I do see the usefulness of seeing how a similar Greek word is used, I do not try and act like I know Greek (even with the definitions available). I let the context determine what a word means for me. I suppose I have cut back on doing Greek studies (on my earlier years of study of God's Word) because so many people today disregard what their Bible says in English in favor of their own private interpretation on the Greek (a language they do not really know). Yet, the KJV was translated by some of the top scholars. Tons of them. They all passed it around to check their work. No other Bible was made like that since. Yes, I realize certain words are not what they appear to be. The English word "forever" does not always mean "forever." But the context determines it's use.

The NKJV is also based upon the Textus Receptus and has corrected the problem with the Greek word "diakathe". However, there are still a few places where I prefer the older KJV.

I can compare Daniel 9:24 to Hebrews 10:16-18 better in the KJV, because they both contain the word "iniquity".
