Here are those who will inherit eternal life.

27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. John 10:27-28

That little word "and", connects what Jesus just said, with what He is about to say.

He gives His sheep, who hear His voice, and whom He knows, and who follow Him, eternal life.

Gots news for you. No one inherits eternal life. It is a gift given to those who believe in the Son of God.

John 3:15-16
15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. 16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

John 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

John 6:40 "For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."

John 6:47 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.

John 20:31 - But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have (eternal) life in his name.

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord

1 Tim 1:16 Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.

Gal 3:22 But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

1 John 5:13 - These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

And Jesus taught WHEN one possesses the gift of eternal life in John 5:24 - “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

So one who believes HAS eternal life.

OK. So, when one FIRST believes is WHEN they first POSSESS eternal life.

Capiche?

So, recipients of eternal life are promised to never perish FROM THE MOMENT when they first believed and received eternal life.

Gots news for you. No one inherits eternal life.

This is the promise Jesus gave to His disciples, Judas included, along with the promise to anyone who
has left houses and family for His names sake.

Judas ended up becoming lost, as a traitor, and losing his promise of reigning with Christ, and inheriting eternal life.

  • 28 So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. Matthew 19:28-29

And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.

Eternal life is what we who have faith in Jesus christ, are hoping for.

4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:4-7

Matthew 19:28-29

And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.
Those who pay attention to context know that personal obedience and faithfulness (left things and people for His name's sake) will be rewarded in eternity.

The key word here is "receive a hundredfold". That's referring to something earned.

Do you believe that our salvation is earned by what we do, or given as a free gift on the basis of non-meritorious faith?

Eternal life is what we who have faith in Jesus christ, are hoping for.

4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:4-7
Always misunderstanding Scripture.

The words "eternal life" are used 21 ways in Scripture. Failure to understand both ways always leads to error and false doctrine.

One use is as a gift given, which is actually life itself; eternal life. Life that cannot perish. It's given on the basis of faith alone; John 3:16, 5:24, 6:40, 20:31.

The other use refers to being IN eternity. Or life IN eternity.

With this new knowledge, it should be evident that Titus 3:4-7 refers to LIFE IN eternity.

But our "new life" begins at faith in Christ, when He gives us His own life; which is eternal life.

An heir inherits something. In this case we are heirs, and hope to inherit eternal life.
JLB
Just like the words "eternal life", used in 2 ways, the same is true of inheritance.

First, there is the inheritance as children of God, where all of His children will live with Him eternally, just on the basis of being His children. Noted in red words.

Rom 8:17a - Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

The second inheritance is being a "co-heir of Christ", which is based on sharing in His sufferings. Noted in blue words. This inheritance is EARNED by enduring, obedience, etc.

Another passage that teaches co-heirship with Christ:
if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he will also deny us;
2 Tim 2:12

The only way to "reign with Christ" is to endure. That's something EARNED. This is NOT salvation. Not by a long shot.

otoh, if we don't endure, which means to deny Him, then He will deny us the privilege of reigning with Him.

If one doesn't see 2 kinds of inheritance, then there's no use in further discussion about biblical inheritance.

Eternal life is given at the end of a faithful live, to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality.

God, who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, Romans 2:6-8

Eternal is most certainly FORMALLY given to the sheep of Christ with all creation watching in solemn attendance, like graduation day. The goats go to hell, the sheep to heaven. They then formally inherit eternal life at that judgement seat.
.
41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

44 “Then they also will answer Him,[d] saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

BUT, and it is a big BUT,
Those who believe have eternal life NOW and have passed from death to life.
There just has not been a ceremony with all of creation partaking and participating.
They posses eternal life and are heirs of eternal life as Jesus uses emphasis to His words.
John 5
24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

Whatever you say, do not deny the words of our Lord Jesus Christ. and dont go twisting them.

You've been thoroughly refuted. Whether you realize it or not.

Furthermore, Jesus out and out promised eternal security in John 10:28 by saying that recipients of eternal life will never perish. Period.

  • You left out the context.

Here is what John 5:24 says with the context -

24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. 25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, 27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. John 5:24-29

all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

READ THESE PLAIN AND IRREFUTABLE WORDS OF JESUS CHRIST:

  • those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

Same thing Paul teaches us:

God, who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, Romans 2:6-8

God, who “will render to each one according to his deeds”:

  • eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;

Your doctrine that teaches people to live an immoral, ungodly life, then "think" they have eternal life is deceptive and not biblical.

I quoted Jesus words, and wrote them out for all to examine, unlike those who state their opinion, and "tag" their opinion with a scripture reference, quoting half of one verse, and half of another without showing what the words of the scripture say along with it's context.

This is the mark of those who teach false doctrine.

My point that I made, is that we will inherit eternal life:

  • You left out the context.
  • There is nothing in the context surrounding Jn 5:24 that changes the plain language that Jesus used to tell us WHEN one HAS (as in POSSESS) eternal life. WHEN they believe is WHEN they possess eternal life. Not at the end of one's life, as you've claimed by misquoting a verse from Peter.

So, those who believe at the MOMENT of faith in Christ:
1. POSSESS eternal life
2. shall NOT come into judgment
3. has passed from death to life.

Paul taught that eternal life is a gift of God, and that God's gifts are irrevocable. That's eternal security.

The phrase "shall not come into judgment" is a guarantee by Jesus that the believer from the moment of faith will never perish, which He specifically said in Jn 10:28.

Passing from death to life is ONE TIME EVENT. There are no verses that speak about passing AGAIN back into death. Such an idea is absurd.

READ THESE PLAIN AND IRREFUTABLE WORDS OF JESUS CHRIST:
  • those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
Define "done good" specifically.

Why did Paul answer the jailer's question of what he MUST DO to be saved, with:
"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved"????

You have no answers to these questions.

I quoted Jesus words
That's what I've done. What you've done is misquote and misunderstand Jesus' words.

Nothing new to say, huh. And what has been repeated has been repeatedly refuted from Scripture.

You have done nothing but state your opinion, in the face of overwhelming scripture, because your doctrine does not come from the scriptures.

We who believe have the hope of eternal life, which we will receive at the end of a life of faith, and righteousness.

A life that bears fruit unto holiness; expressing the holy Life of Jesus Christ within.

22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:22-23

  • you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.

  • eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;

The words of scripture has thoroughly refuted your opinion.

Those who believe shall inherit eternal life.

Yes, what you teach.

And my point is that Jesus taught something totally different than your opinion.

John 5:24 - “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

Yes, hears His word AND believes.

  • he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life,

Hear carries the meaning of hear, understand and do what is heard, which is what Jesus says:

  • those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

FreeGrace, do you really not know what doing good is?

If you saw someone who is hungry, what do you think doing good is?
Another poster thinks that Rom 2:6-8 is how one receives eternal life; by doing good.

So I am interested in what he thinks that means.

Here is a brief list from Jesus.

Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
for I was hungry and you gave Me food;
I was thirsty and you gave Me drink;
I was a stranger and you took Me in;
I was naked and you clothed Me;
I was sick and you visited Me;
I was in prison and you came to Me.’ Matthew 25:34-36

Then there is:

17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:17-18

Casting out devils, laying hands on sick people and they get well are also the works of Him who dwells in us, as well as interceding and praying for people in an unknown tongue beyond our own understanding.

Loving people, and demonstrating the life of our risen Savior in our actions, as we obey His leadings in our life.

Faith working by love.

On the other hand, we can obey the lustful desires of the sin that dwells in our flesh, which expresses itself in anger, and lying, and adultery, fornication, homosexuality, stealing, idolatry, and the like.

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21

  • that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

These are are good things. But doing ALL of them will still NOT get anyone into heaven. Many unbelievers (read liberal do-gooders) feed the hungry, water the thirsty, take in the homeless, clothe the naked, and visit the sick. They are NO CLOSER to heaven than their heathen counterparts.

And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:17-18
This is a contested passage. It doesn't occur in the earliest dated manuscripts, which means it was ADDED at a later date.

Casting out devils, laying hands on sick people and they get well are also the works of Him who dwells in us, as well as interceding and praying for people in an unknown tongue beyond our own understanding.
Interesting. What did Jesus say to the crowd in Matt 7:21-23 when they appealed to Him for entering the kingdom with this:
22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’

His response to their GOOD DEEDS:
23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Well, so much for good deeds getting anyone into heaven.

But that's been my point all along re: Rom 2:6-8. Paul is basically saying that only sinless perfection (continuance in doing good) will earn eternal life.

But because NO ONE does continue in doing good, Jesus Christ HAD to come to earth, and die for ALL of OUR sins and give eternal life to those who trust in Him for it.

Unfortunately for your doctrine, Jesus is speaking to His people, His servants, on the Day of Judgement.

Here is what He said to His people on that Day:

Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
