What it is, the story behind it, why you like it....

Mine first.

It is Will Turner (left) and Henry Turner (right) from Pirates of the Caribbean 5 (Dead men tell no tales?).

The scene where Henry goes looking for his father who is (for reasons never explained) still under a curse he should have been freed from a few years earlier. The kid finds where the Flying Dutchmam is submerged (dead crew doesn't need to breathe) and ties a weight around his ankle to sink to it. Will raises the ship up and tells Henry to stop looking for him and I think to stay safe with his mother or to not spend his whole life on breaking the curse (which he pretty well ignores). He tells Henry he loves him but since they cannot be together he cuts the weight and submerges the ship so Henry floats and cannot follow the Flying Dutchman.

This shot to me is sad and loving, and shows a pure connection between family. I often feel lonely so I am fond of this picture.

It's one of the Hamstar hamsters from the Kia promotion a few years back. I've had other similar ones, but like this one the best.

Antonio Ciseri's Ecce Homo.

It depicts Pilate showing the scourged Christ to the crowd. I chose Quid est Veritas as my name, What is Truth, and I find this moment where Pilate points to it after having uttered these words quite poignant. I also like the way the focus is shifted from the distant crowds to the figures of Pilate's court, as it reminds me of CS Lewis' contention that we have shifted the expectation from being judged by God, fearful of God, to ourselves judging whether we believe in God or not (God in the Dock, as it were).

When The Lord instructed me to create this profile, to call it "Serving Zion", I pictured New Jerusalem and I remembered what was written in Revelation 21.

The verse of Revelation 22:2 seemed like a perfect picture to show the purpose of serving Zion: the paradise earth.

In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
Revelation 22:2 (ISR)

So I did a Google Search and found this beautiful painting by the late Bob Ross :crosseo:

Bless his heart! You may watch as he explains how he goes about painting this picture:

Mine is a cover illustration from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. It and the other books in the series have had plenty of different covers, but this one (by Pauline Baynes, from the first paperback edition) is easily my favourite. I remember it very well from when my mum first read that book to me when I was 5 years old. It was the Chronicles of Narnia, really, that first clearly introduced me to the concept of a loving God and they are still very precious to me. :blacksunrays:

It's a tamarin monkey. They are typically born in twins and have two fathers. If you like baby monkeys and David Attenborough's voice, this is your day

I'm sure most people know - but "fiat lux" is Latin for "let there be light", and the symbol below is ChiRho, an ancient Greek Christogram.

Mine used to be an avatar version of myself with a beanie cap, beach clothes, and flip flops. I changed it just recently to reflect my true source of living and desire for all people.

It is a dove flapping in fire. Goes along with my name. If everyday believers lived "ByTheSpirit" a bit more, the world would truly be a place of peace and rest.

Sometimes it takes some fire of sorts to get the job done. Fire can destroy things, but it can also purify. The imagery is this:

The Holy Spirit comes to burn down the things in our lives that hinder our walk with God, thus purifying those who accept such.

Galatians 5:16

Mine is an artists supposition of what Polycarp may have looked like. The tag line at the bottom is Polycarp's statement as he was being led to martyrdom. When I first read that years ago, I wondered why he gave his full age when it is unlikely that he knew the Lord in childhood. As I considered by own life I realized that Polycarp was acknowledging the goodness and the hand of God in his entire life, even when he was in rebellion as a sinner. Half my life I did not know Jesus until the clear new birth when I was 32, yet when I survey my entire life I recognize the goodness of the Lord from birth. How good HE is!

My avatar reflects my love for sunsets/sunrises and God's creation [nature]. I especially love the color combos and the peaceful scenery. Despite being an artist [although I haven't CG painted in years], I did not paint this avatar. It gives off an 'anime' feeling to it. Something I also enjoy. However, I am quite picky with what I watch. Speaking of which, I just finished a great anime called 'The Royal Tutor'. The first season just finished..which was quite sad but I like the ending despite the possibility of a second season. I highly recommend it : ) One of the characters prays at one point [very late into the anime season] which warmed my heart immensely.

John Cleese as 'Basil Fawlty' - a fictional hapless hotel owner. "Fawlty Towers" was a BBC comedy from the 70's that would never make it past the first episode today.

I am too young to get that one I guess, still, I like comedies.

I can't remember if I had seen that cover or a similar one before. Still, it's sweet that it is precious like that/for that reason.
