....some friends of Trump have been floating the idea of dispatching Mueller and another claims Trump is "considering perhaps terminating" Special Counsel Robert Mueller:

Gingrich, who last month called Mueller a "superb choice" for special counsel, accused Mueller of hiring partisans” to run the investigation.

Several Trump allies blasted Mueller's decision to hire investigators who have given campaign donations to Democrats, including Andrew Weissmann, who’s on detail from his post as head of the Justice Department’s criminal fraud division.

Attorney General Jeff “Sessions never should've recused himself,” conservative activist and Trump supporter Ann Coulter said on Twitter. “Now that we know TRUMP IS NOT UNDER INVESTIGATION, Sessions should take it back & fire Mueller.”

Republicans to Trump: Hands off Mueller

A friend of President Donald Trump says that the president is “considering perhaps terminating” Special Counsel Robert Mueller — an action that, if carried out, would mean a crisis over the rule of law in the United States.

The friend — Christopher Ruddy, founder of the conservative website NewsMax — told Judy Woodruff of PBS Newshour that the president is considering firing Mueller, who is overseeing the Russia investigation. “I personally think it would be a very significant mistake,” Ruddy said.

Trump friend: He’s thinking about firing Robert Mueller

If Trump fired Mueller, tens of millions of Americans would march on Washington and their Congressmen and Senators' offices, telling them, "Do your job! Do your job!"

If they had done their jobs from the beginning, perhaps a special counsel would not have been necessary.

LOL we've seen how far these types of stories have gone before. Replace "anonymous sources" with "friends of Trump" and rinse, repeat.

And then replace "friends with Trump" with an actual name like "Christopher Ruddy." Pffhh. Clearly that name's made up.

The article says "Trump allies", not Trump himself. It's probably a suggestion rather than something Trump actually said. Considering the previous thread, the media is back to doing hatchet jobs rather than reporting real news.

He's stupid and arrogant enough to do it too. I believe Comey's firing has to be for misconduct and he has to have 30 day's notice. Someone said Trump could possibly redo regulations and pull it off. We'll see.
I disagree with the first part of the post. While I don't feel that Trump particularly cares about the moral justifiability of firing Mueller, I do think he cares about his political future and I think he is at least smart enough to follow his advisers' suggestions. They have to recognize (and hopefully he does too) that firing him would have disastrous PR consequences. It would also be counterproductive, since doing that would increase suspicions and he'd probably end up even more likely to face consequences. I think they know that, anyway. On the other hand...
Yeah, he's done stuff like this before. Sometimes it seems when nearly everyone says he shouldn't do something that just encourages him to do it.

If that were true would he still be using twitter?

Trump's already had more folks protesting him than wars. He just makes up crap about them being paid. You'd have to a special kind of stupid to think the millions all got paid, but well, there's some special folks out there. So I don't think that would matter all that much to him.

It's a good bet that Trump is innocent. He's not even under investigation as far as I know. I'd say just let him finish and be done with it.

He sure hasn't acted innocent.

How do you act innocent to those who hate him? The only thing he's done that might make him look guilty is fire Comey, but it was already confirmed that would do nothing to stop the investigation. It wouldn't even slow it down.

It would be more than just PR - this would be considered obstruction of justice. If Trump did fire the special council, Congress would just reappoint him as independent counsel. This would put him one step closer to impeachment. This wouldn't be a joke.

Oh, he definitely often ignores political advice. Twitter is something that's counterproductive for him. And like I said, sometimes it seems like he does things specifically because he's told not to. But firing Mueller would be such an obviously massive mistake I'm not sure that he would make a solo decision here. Maybe I'm wrong. Knowing him it wouldn't be a huge surprise.

Trump is 70 years old. He never actually wanted to win, he just wanted to drum up PR to make money for his business. He has no interest in a political future. His children maybe, but not him. He has less freedom now than before. And his actions have brought scrutiny to all his former business ventures, threatening his fortune. Soon Ivanka is going to be under investigation, if she isn't already due to her business ventures. She and Jared have hired the Clinton's former lawyer.

Trump is impulsive. He has no self control. He is the exact opposite of every fruit of the spirit we are supposed to use a guide. He doesn't listen to anyone around him. With Sessions in the hot seat now (A judge has said he has to release part of his clearance forms to the public) everyone soon will be looking out only for themselves.

I agree his "friends" may be floating the idea to evaluate the blowback....but I do not consider the reporting thereof to be a hatchet job. Gingerich, Rep Franks, Coulter and Christopher Ruddy of Newsmax fame are all quoted...

I would not put anything past this President.

By expressing concern that the Russians tried to interfere with the election and demanding that investigators get to the bottom of it.

The only thing he's done that might make him look guilty is fire Comey, but it was already confirmed that would do nothing to stop the investigation.
That, and the constant lies.
It wouldn't even slow it down.
No, it sped it up and focused it on him.

Good. So there should be no reason for Trump to be even consider such a suggestion....agreed?
