I'm not the person who originally figured this out, but just sharing here.

Original footage:

Now the ABC "highlights"

Key moments from James Comey's testimony

The same footage is found at around 30 secs in on the YT video, and 1:20 in the ABC video. By placing that comment there, it changes Comey's response to Senator Burr's question about Lynch and Clinton's tarmac meeting to a response about whether Trump was attempting to obstruct the Flynn investigation.

Now the article that accompanies the video correctly labels what is being talked about, but the video itself is the problem. How many people do you think just watched the video compared to going down that far into the article to see the context?

What? In the video, Burr clearly changes the subject, he even says to 'go back to', the meeting between Lynch and Clinton on the tarmac, and that is what Comey is responding to. There is nothing missing between the question and the response. Someone would have to be deaf or stupid not to make the connection between the question and the answer.

Was only one camera filming the hearing? OR Was the YT recording from a different camera recording than the ABC camera recording?

In the ABC video there's a flash to denote a skip, but it never goes back to Burr before Comey mentions the same lines.

Please don't think I'm directing this statement at anyone in particular, I'm not, just saying that because of "the media spin and the different takes on it (me included)," you can’t even find out how people are really doing in your own circles any more. If you ask them how they feel – better or worse about the nation’s direction? Is their personal situation better, worse or no change? You’ll most likely get a media junkie type answer and not an actual evaluation of their own personal situation. It’s sad how easy we are now swayed, one way or the other, watching all this stuff 24/7 instead of taking stock of our true condition.

Where is there a 'flash', whatever that is, in the video that you posted? And the video follows the exact wording of the transcript, so I still don't see what the problem is.

Please explain how there is any confusion between the question and the answer in the video compared to the transcript.

Are you talking about the sound that sounds like either a hang up in a tape or a skip on a record?
So what? It is at the very end of the video around 1:18 or so. By this point in the video it is clear that they are talking about Lynch and Clinton, not Trump or the Russian investigation. Absolutely nothing is different than the written transcript.

So again tell me what the problem is.....

You realize that there's two videos, right? The Youtube one I have posted in here, and the one in the link to the ABC website. 1:24-ish on the 5 minute ABC video.

You should watch Fox News once in awhile; they have an uncanny ability to completely ignore certain facts. There is no news org. that twists the truth more than Fox, and, yes, I listen to Fox along with the others so I know what they are all saying.

Yike! Duh! Now I see what you are saying by a 'flash'. Sorry for taking up so much of your time. I appreciate your patience.
Yes, I have to agree that they way they stopped and started each of their key points made it hard to follow, and the facts of that point are especially elusive, even in the written article.
I don't assume that this was done on purpose to deceive but was definitely very poor reporting.

If you don't listen to or watch all of the programs, how do you know you are getting a comprehensive perspective? How do you know how to compare the programs? I'm a liberal and I listen to MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News for a range of perspectives.

I agree that it is hard to follow, although I didn't really find it "deceptive". Then again, I watched the full 3-hour testimony session itself, so I already knew what I was hearing.

As noted by the OP, it was described correctly in the verbiage of the article.

I would describe it much more as "poor" editing than "deceptive" editing.

I personally don't think ABC was trying to be deceitful. The main reason is because they could have done so much better if they had been trying. Anyone who is aware of the context (granted, some people watching the video might not be up to speed on all the details) could tell, for example, that because he mentioned concluding that he "had to do something separately," he must have been talking about why he chose to publicly reveal the decision about the email case. The video is a bit confusing at first, but I agree with whatbogsends that it's more careless ("extremely careless"?) than purposefully dishonest.

I feel for the old people and poor set in their version of MSM truth. As we learn (I am old too, lol) of narrative manipulation . Good thing they forgot about the web and furthermore made computers the learning standard in schools which in effect has made MSM a dying source of truth. We are seeing the MSM news as watch and attack dogs for the power structure by manipulation of narrative. It no longer functions as watch or attack dogs TO the power structure, the peoples watch dog is no more. To and For, are the keys. Yet the biggest key is silence/omit of a truth. We have to look up D.A.P.L , DNC lawsuit , Michigan water poisoning because our watch dog apparatus now chews on that money bone while real news passes it by.

So , keep em coming truthers  .
